  1. Mark McGhee said that if Aberdeen didn't do well in the market he would try to take him back and given the way things are going for Dons having lost Kerr, Mulgrew, Grassi etc it wouldn't suprise me if he did. I wouldn't mind Duff back, another experienced head to keep the youngsters on the ground, as said he looked a good option in midfield and he said himself that he enjoyed his time here.
  2. If he played enough games he is due a medal, simple as that. Although i didn't know the 10 game rule was SPL only.

    4-2-3-1

It certainly proving to be effective. Inter also used it and went on to become European champions.
  4. Really? He said last week he wasn't looking at him. Mayb'e he has changed his mind.
  5. Couldn't help but ask.
  6. Yes but there's more to it than that. How did England's vastly experienced squad fare compared with an inexperienced Germany team based around players in their early 20's with only a few caps? And we did OK last season with pretty inexperienced players like Rooney, Hayes and Cox. I'm certainly more excited by the type of player we are going for than if we were getting journeymen who'd played for St Mirren, Killie, Motherwell etc etc. Suppose when you word it like that it makes more sense. I do hope they cut it in the SPL if they sign.
  7. Some people like to get a strip with their favourite player and number on the back. And there in lies the following question, when does the new strip come out?
  8. Don't think he could be anymore transparant... fair play for keeping the fans in ze loop. I'm a bit worried that he isn't looking at anyone with a bit more experience to help out the first team but experience costs money and we don't seem to have that at the moment. From the sounds of it Heston Blumenthal will be able to cover all 4 positions upfront and at only 20 years of age he could be an absolute steal... or another Behrami but I am hopeful because he wears a head band :) :P :P It does concern me as well that we are not bringing in experienced players. There must surely be some players unattached that may find us desirable, then again mayb'e not. Still, looks like it may be a fun pre season.
  9. Both look like exciting prospects but we need some experienced heads to add to it as well. Looking forward to seeing them in action. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8790309.stm Butcher wants another keeper as well as Johnson, Mr Bannerman got a word with him today.
  10. I thought football had it bad till i read this. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/Ridicul...ng-crazy-070310
  11. I shan't be attending that match as i'am in York that day and then have to travel back to Heysham afterwards, all in all around 5 hours worth of travelling, too much. Looking forward to Fleetwood though.
  12. He is a free agent with his most recent clubs being Wigan Athletic and Birmingham, he was a back up keeper for both mainly so i doubt he would want to play back up to Esson. I think he also said he would like to remain in England as well.
  13. Stockport have confirmed our friendly with them on their website.
  14. Mark McGhee simply because Aberdeen have no team and are struggling to bring anyone in and hold onto anyone. Should've gone at the end of last season and i reckon if Aberdeen pick up where they left of he will be gone. Danny Lennon is a possibility, division 2 to the SPL is a massive jump for players (as Barrowboy found out), they will struggle without Mehmet and Dorman as well so i would say unless they start of well too then D. Lennon could well be against it, i doubt he was many Buddies fans choice as manager so it may not take much for them to become frustrated.
  15. I look forward to seeing who are two new faces are. Pre-season looks as though it will be really good this year, by being in the SPL we will attract a higher calibre of trialists, players who will really want to test themselves at a high level and by playing sides such as Valladolid and Antwerp we will see these guys really put through their paces. Can't wait for it all to start.
  16. I see Valladolid's keeper is currently on international duty with Paraguay.
  17. Agreed with those who think Rooney will cut it in the SPL, he showed that despite being a benchwarmer most games that he can score goals at a high level, even if he gets half the goals he scored last season he will have proved his worth. Jonny will be an intresting watch in the coming months regular first team football at the highest level will be something completely new to him, he will have his days to remember and his days to forget as i'm sure they all will during the course of the campaign.
  18. I saw that in the P&J this morning too. So if this Real Valladolid game goes ahead on the 3rd August, surely this means the game at Huntly on the 4th August is off, yet it's still listed on the official site. Not necessarliy. Now that we have a youth squad we may look to blend them into that game on the Monday with just a few first team players involved, so any player on the bench against Valladolid may feature as a starter the next say.
  19. The courier says the Blackpool trip is DEFNITELY on. They have contacted Stockport county over getting a game, don't think they will get them cause i was on their site and their pitch is in the middle of being re-surfaced but Malpas said they are also confident of playing a conference team in the area if Stockport say no. The Courier website also says we are playing Real Valladolid on the 3rd August.
  20. Butch is on Sky Sports News just now, not a happy chappy. Fair play to the Germans, they were outstanding but England could not have made any easier for them. I've seen better defending on the Bught park when it's pouring rain.
  21. The saints player? Yeah...suppose :D Just in case you don't know he was a big player for us in the first promotion in 2004, left in 2008 and is still a highly thought of guy around these parts.
  22. I think it will be Killie who get the drop. They still have no manager, they've lost Kevin Kyle, Simon Ford and will probably lose others and i doubt they will be able to attract any decent players to their club.
  23. As long as we stay up i'am not bothered but i would like to beat them as they are a side we haven't beaten in the SPL yet.
  24. Good luck to Robbo, with him at the helm Cowdenbeath may just surpass their expectations this season.
  25. I hope it is just a trial given his reviews.
