Eh!

Two wrongs do not make a right. The Celtic fans (and any other team for that matter) have just as much right to complain and make a case for travelling up here at such a time in winter.
-
Is it the case that he was happy to be put forward for re-election at the time when the AGM resolutions would have been issued earlier this month, but when the AGM took place he wanted that resolution withdrawn? I hadn't taken much interest in the AGM this year but that doesn't sound like normal procedure as the board are self-electing and not normally appointed by the AGM.

Or maybe the timing has to do with the fact it was the club AGM last night?

Whilst the name "Terry Butcher" might have attracted more than a few of the current squad to Inverness, I think many of them have come to appreciate that life (and work) here is attractive and enjoyable in itself. Since news of TB's departure has broken, we've had two players commit their future to the club...and they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. You have Richie, whom many would have considered "Butchers Boy" coming towards the end of his playing career and talking about how special the area and the team is...and I reckon most would have had him down as a sure bet to follow TB to Hibs. You also have Dean Brill who's an ambitious, young (for a keeper) player with 10+ playing years ahead of him who doesn't appear to have had any hesitation in committing to the club for an extended period. Come January, we'll be looking forward to our Semi-Final...which comes after the window closes...and hopefully still challenging at the right end of the table. Any player worth his salt isn't going to want to walk away from that to go to Hibs the way things are there just now...and no guarantee that TB will be able to turn it around. I'd put money on NO players heading to play in Edinburgh...unless it's ones we want to move on...and I can't think of any that fall into that category.

And still theres no fixture list on SFA site That's one that can't be pinned on me!

That's in stark contrast to the number of messages of support coming from Hearts fans on Facebook & Twitter.

Who is this Terry you speak of?

I'm feeling a little uneasy....just waiting for the moment the authorities/police realise they've got us and County at home on the same day at the same time!

Should have invited them up for the game on Saturday....you could have met beforehand...around 12:15pm perhaps?

Game is on the Saturday with a 3pm kick-off. Ticket Info - http://ictfc.com/news/club-news/1081-ticket-info-novemberdecember

Draper signed a 1 year deal for this season back in March.
-
Think we've had a new bookies favourite just about every day since Butchers departure was announced.
-
Couldn't have asked, or hoped, for a better signing at this moment in time. Butcher being poached could/should have been a real body blow, but it's a testament to the attitude of the players, club & fans that we've rallied together and lifted the club above all that and kept it moving forward. So much so that the appointment of the new manager almost seems to have become the side show instead of the main event. TOGETHER WE BELIEVE - TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE

Sacked and then re-instated almost immediately at Coleraine (sounds like some d!ickhead Director nonsense) before going on to win the league title (by 15 points), promotion and a cup that same season. Won another cup and finished 2nd in the league the following season. Resigned after Directors started berating him following a couple of losses to near rivals a couple of seasons later. Took on an all but relegate team at Ballymena and whilst he couldn't save them, he did get them promoted again at second attempt....won 2 cups and qualified for Intertoto in the process. 10 wins, 10 draws, 10 losses was his record at Larne, a job he resigned from due to his work with the national association. How good a manager was he at Kilmarnock though? While he may have won the League Cup, how much of what he achieved was through his own quality and not having a great platform for him put in place by Mixu Paatelainen? From what I can see, there could well be a chance that he's nothing more than this decade's Ivan Golac - only more annoying! Probably on a par with what TB achieved in his first two SPL seasons. If we accept the argument that Mixu left him a great platform to work from...do we not have the same, or better, platform for him to build on here? Shiels is not the only show in town...not by a long shot, I just think a lot of people only remember him for a few rants in the press...something which he got a lot of support for by people on this forum because he was sticking it to the establishment.

You are absolutely right that the purpose of a forum is for discussion and expression of opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you're not entitled to your own facts...and it is your expression of certain facts that I disagreed with and proffered my own opinion on. I get, and have acknowledged (either earlier in this thread or elsewhere), that there were certain interviews which didn't show him in good light...but having gone and looked at a lot of other interviews, this was certainly not the "norm". Given that you, and a few others, seem to think this is the case shows just how good a character assassination job the press performed. Part of what I do as media coordinator with the club is to manage these situations and work to prevent them arising in the first place. I don't know what the setup is/was at Kilmarnock, but I do wonder why it was ever allowed to happen and get out of hand in the way it did.

So it's confirmed then...Butchers away?

The only sensation he caused with the press happened in a very small window where Killie were on the end of what Shiels perceived as some extremely poor Ref decisions. So you continue to misrepresent the man. He only made one comment about the hassle of travelling to Inverness that I am aware of. Not sure I've seen anything to merit claims that the media spin doctors are desperate to have him back in work....no more so that "A N Other" manager, who changes twice a day.

Not the TV companies who impose rules on match blackouts. FIFA Blackout period for the UK is Saturday from 3 till 5:30 (I think) and have no impact or baring on any other sports. BBC may not want to show them at the same time, but no rules I am aware of which prevent it.

Who remembers this journey? Not the only one of it's type (for us other fans of other clubs) and bad enough with a 3pm kick-off. I can also accept that 3pm on a Saturday is "league time" and you have to go with the flow in regards weather etc, but to make a concious decision to move a match to an early kick-off on a Sunday when public transport shows little regard for fan safety.

I've actually spent a large chunk of today researching the perceived "attitude problem" with Kenny Shiels and I think he has, quite literally, got a bit of bad press. Up until a couple of months before he parted company with Killie, all his interviews are what you want/expect from the manager of any club...standing up for his club, players, staff and the work he was doing with the team in general. A couple of dodgy referee decisions and the press got a couple of bites from him and they then continued to press his buttons...in fact, I'd go so far as to say they stitched him up. Granted, he should have had the where with all to see what was going on and take a step back from it, but nobody is perfect and whilst some of his comments might have upset the beaks and the blazers, it was all in defence of those I listed above (and himself). Aside from his comments about travelling so far north, he's never spoken poorly of Inverness and if you look back over his pre/post match interviews for games against us then he speaks fairly highly of the way we play and go about things as a club. The "Faith and Football" interview gives a decent insight into the real Kenny Shiels, as do the interviews and articles about the work he did in the community. It would appear that he spent a LOT of time out and about interacting with, helping and promoting football at all levels....look up references to Kenny Shiels and Youth Football Scotland to see for yourself. There's some talk about his "5 year plan" and I think Killie were only just starting to really benefit from that. Given his eagerness to build a team around young players...both home grown and by bringing some in...then I get the feeling his ideas are not a million miles from some of the stuff already in place/progressing at TCS. I've not pinned my colours to any specific replacement managerial mast, but Kenny Shiels ticks a lot of the boxes on my list of things we should be looking for. My only question mark is whether or not it's all KS or if the success is in the partnership with Jimmy Nicholl...if it is, then it would need to be a dual appointment.

Thank feck there's double doors into the stadium...!
