  1. The whole not marked "fire retardant" argument is quite laughable. Where's the risk of ignition coming from in this day and age when smoking is banned from stadia? How many people own clothing, hats & scarves that are worn to football that are marked "fire retardant"? The next time anyone is challenged on taking a flag into a ground on the basis of it not being marked "fire retardant", start stripping off yer clothes and showing them the labels.....see how far you get before the point sinks in!
  2. Taking nothing away from Richie and unlike a few others I had far from written him off in pre-season....but, I don't think it's true to say that we can't do without him (on the park at least). We coped pretty admirably without him in the Charlton match. Not sure there's any player you could put in the "can't do without" box at the moment because we have very capable cover for every position on the pitch. Not only that, but we have a depth of squad that allows us to be far more adaptable than perhaps any other season in the SPL that I can recall. In fact, you could leave out every player that started against St Mirren and we could still field a strong team, IMO. FWIW, I'd have his name as one of the first on the team sheet every week....and despite putting his body through the ringer at the end of last season, he came back looking leaner, sharper and fitter than ever.
  3. I think a new amp might have gone in since then and a lot of time was spent repositioning speakers and the like as well. The last prices that were got came in at around £30k...and that included "favours" in regards to installation. You can get cheaper systems...but there's no point in replacing with same/inferior when the aim is to improve the quality.
  4. 1 Where were you born? Raigmore 2.Where did you spend your childhood? Dalneigh 3 When did you start following football in Inverness? Dunno, I wasn't a huge football fan as a young kid, but I have plenty of memories of jumping the wall at Telford St and it just kinda went on from there as the "habit" of going to football on a Saturday stuck with me. 4 What is you current location? Dalneigh
  5. I find it hilarious the number of people who buy in to the Ross County PR/Hype, even though the wheels have been falling off that wagon for a longggg time. Not for one second do I want ICT to operate the way they do in any aspect. They talk the talk and spin a few good yarns, but the financials do not stack up....that's why the last sets of accounts showed that they had debts of £4.8 Million...and that'snot including the cost of the most recent infrastructure upgrades and re-laying the pitch (twice). If someone from Ross County told me the sky was blue I wouldn't believe them and would have to go out and double check.
  6. As the person on the mic (although I've now retired my position) I share your frustration, as do the club. I will take a wee bit of the blame as I tend to get a bit carried away and I know the system struggles to cope with my screaming into the mic...lol. We will be spending some time with the new stadium announcer ahead of the next home game tweaking it to better fit his voice, but in reality the whole system needs replaced and it won't be perfect...just the best we can make it. I'm sure if anyone has a spare couple of hundred thousand then the club would be happy to relieve them of it. The tannoy wouldn't cost that to replace, but it's not top of the list of priorities and a few other things need money spent on them first.
  7. 19350 & 18212 Was a third number for a smaller prize of £15 but don't have the winning number for that as it was relayed to me verbally in the announcers box.
  8. Doran has been at his best in pre-season when playing from the middle and then cutting out to the edges of the area...inevitably dragging defenders with him...and then delivering some deadly balls across goal for others to knock home. Not sure we should be expecting him to contribute 10 or 12 goals...although it wouldn't surprise me if he did...but I'll wager that he will tee-up the majority of what others score. Those who didn't see the earlier pre-season games also haven't had the pleasure of seeing Marley Watkins. Of all the new signings, I think he is the most likely to be a contender for one of the wide spots.
  9. Did I miss the news that Richie had been tried and found guilty of anything?
  10. No club footage from Arbroath and Wick, but others will all be up in due course. The higher number of games that get played during pre-season have given us a wee bit of a back log.
  11. Dunno...Bournemouth aren't that big a draw.
  12. Yeah. Terry has tended to step out of the dugout, leaving it to Mo & Dunc to manage the games where we've had a primarily U20's squad out on the park. The only exception to that was Arbroath as he was out of the country (he's back now).

    U20s

The U20's league is based on the setup each club has at that level. All SPFLSP teams are required to meet the level necessary to compete in the SPFLSPU20's and it's optional for all other teams across the leagues. Rangers missed a year, but are back to having a setup which allows them to enter.
  14. Premier League (the real one) also has a lion as it's logo. All we need now is for the Highland and Lowland leagues to be renamed the North Conference and South Conference.

Sky took my order, confirmed it, gave me a date and now say there is a delay of an indeterminate amount of time!
  16. There you go Luke. The league table is just a collection of stats, do you think that's drivel aswell? Here's the stats you're ignoring, I just assumed these would be obvious. Celtic won 21 games when taking the lead and lost 4 when going behind. We won 12 taking a lead and lost 8 games we were behind in. Why don't you guys think its a problem we can't hold onto a lead? Do you like draws? To have taken the lead as often as we did was a vast improvement on previous seasons, so we didn't hold it a few times...hey ho, we're not Bayern or Real Madrid!!!
  17. No, that was a testimonial.
  18. The four games I missed last season must have been the ones where we had this "play for a draw" mentality. It's my opinion that the reasons we did so well was precisely due to the fact that we didn't adopt such an approach.
  19. Many of these highlight reels etc being produced by clubs throughout Scotland are being done by volunteer fans who are working with little or no budget. I can assure you that fancy graphics are way down anyone's list of priorities.
  20. I'm quite glad that the club avoid falling into the trap of "Glamour Friendlies". Especially during the pre-season when it's more important that the team are concentrating on preparations for the competitive matches. If it were deemed appropriate to play a "big name" club, then it should be as part of those preparations and priced in-line with any other of the pre-season training games. Any club looking for a fee to play us should be politely refused. It's quite clear that Ross C*unty v Man U was nothing more than a means to rake in a bit of cash....although I have to admit that it was better than last years "Give us £20 for feck all reason" scheme.
  21. I'm reading nothing at all into the game. It was quite clear that a few of our guys weren't going to risk heat stroke by running themselves ragged in what was just a friendly. One of the Raith staff said the thermostat hit 30 during the game, so perhaps understandable that they decided to take it a bit easy. Not great for those there watching, but as I've said elsewhere, pre-season is not about entertaining the fans.
  22. I see little point in going abroad. I can't see how training and playing under baking heat is good preparation for coming back here where (last couple of weeks aside) the weather is totally different. Ok, so maybe it allows a bit of "bonding", but we never seem to have had any trouble in that regard. I think it's probably become more of a kudos type deal...and a means to getting clubs to pay for players summer holidays! Our pre-season so far has seen the team pitted against increasingly physical opposition, but that's probably as much to do with luck of the draw and who was available when as it is anything else. It's all about getting the players game time to blow out any cobwebs from the summer; getting a look at new players in a competitive match setup and experimenting with positioning and maybe a few things from the training ground. Whilst "glamour" ties are great for the fans and maybe even a chance to make a few quid from pre-season, they're not going to achieve much else. The Charlton game is, I imagine, a chance to piece all the bits together and get a look at what you might think would be the starting squad for the league against an opponent which is more on a par with that level of competition.
  23. Having a complete memory blank on Danny Williams for some reason...surely can't be getting that old already!!!
  24. First off, apologies for no updates via club Twitter account, Brora isn't blessed with much in the way of a 3G signal. Like the Elgin match, the Brora game didn't provide much by way of classic entertainment. Brora came out all guns blazing for the first 15 minutes and kept us a little on the back foot but we coped with it well and stopped them doing to much to threaten the goal. We started to take control of the game from there despite Brora being quick to close us down and trying to foil our passing game. Doran had a great game as #10. He looked a lot more confident and decisive in his play and showed no signs of the hesitancy that sometimes thwarted him last season. He was running plays straight through the middle and also cutting out to the edges of the box and knocking balls back across goal pretty regularly....one of which resulted in our first goal when it evaded the head of Tokely and was brought down by Mckay and despatched into the back of the net. I think we missed Doran in the second half. Nick Ross and Ben Greenhalgh were doing well out wide and I can't wait to see them play a game on a wider/longer pitch where they'll really come into their own. Richie was his usual passionate and vocal self, keeping the players on their toes and issuing directions. With some of the knocks and things he's had over the last couple of seasons I have to admit to having been a little concerned about just how much more he could take, but he's looking a lot leaner this season and I suspect he might actually be in the best physical form he has ever been since joining ICT. Raven looked a bit rusty to start with, but that's to be expected as this is his first game of the pre-season...not helped by the fact that he had the worst area of the park for bumps and hollows to operate in. Graeme Shinnie continues to be what I call "The biggest wee guy I know". Solid as ever in defence and should continue to pose a threat going forward this season. Time off doesn't seem to have impacted on him at all and he looks every bit as fit now as he did at the end of last season. Warren and Meekings are the same...obviously worked hard to maintain fitness over the summer and it's like we'd never had a break. Draper is going to be the "unsung hero" of the squad I think (I mean that in a very positive way). He rarely puts a foot wrong and is a real rock in the middle of the park. It's all "no nonsense" solid football which rarely gets the plaudits and recognition it deserves, but will continue to be vital for us this season. Just like the Elgin game, this was a tough one for Mckay who often attracted the attention of 2 (or more) defenders and had to work in an often packed defence. In saying that, he was getting in to some nice positions, making some nice runs and dropping back/wide to assist when needed. He was linking especially well with Doran and once they get a few more games working together in their current rolls (assuming Doran is kept there) then I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they will prove even more effective than the Shinnie/Mckay combo. James Vincent came on in the second half to replace Doran and whilst I think we missed Doran, Vincent looks like he could be more than adequate cover for that position...and perhaps even as cover for Mckay. This is handy (and interesting) because he has already shown that he can also fulfil the job done by OTJ last season. I don't think he'll struggle to get game time this season, just not sure where yet. That's everyone I can remember seeing enough of to give a view/opinion...and I grow more confident for the campaign ahead with each game because we continue to work as a unit despite the many changes in player that you witness pre-season.
  25. Sounds like an interesting read....right up my street. Off to order a copy now, prepare for me to get even more annoying than usual when it comes to matters of "fact"
