Boring stuff. Scottish football fans should stop being so small minded. All these shops just sell tartan tat, Edinburgh is full of them. News Update!

Flybe End Sponsorship Deal
Buckfast should sponsor us, as part of a PR fightback to repair their tarnished image. They could provide free refreshment for away fans travelling by train.

Raith Roll Call
Don't think I am making it to this one. Will only know on Saturday morning.

The Scotsman Sutherland interview.
Have we ever made money from selling on a youth player? We brought in guys like Xausa, Wilson, Robson, Brown, Cowie on free transfers from other clubs and sold them on. When you consider the market at the moment and the lack of anyone spending cash on transfer fees, the cost of running a youth system is such that you'd have to sell on a couple of players for a large fee every year and I don't think that would happen.

Scottish Cup 1/4 final draw
Hibs have to be favourites against County, although County will be flying at the moment. Dundee will fancy their chances at getting to the semi's. Huns v Arabs could be a good wee game, with United over thei post-Levein slump. Celtic will surely romp it over Killie this time.

The Scotsman Sutherland interview.
I'd rather we didn't base our team on where someone was born. Presumably you wouldn't want Barry Wilson to ever have played for us as he was born in Fife, or Ross Tokely as he is from Aberdeen?

Weird Friendlies
Owen COyle and Alan Stubbs were in that Bolton team as well.

The Scotsman Sutherland interview.
I'd rather we adopted the ethos of playing the best players, regardless of where they come from.

Barrowman
Who cares? It really does sum up County fans though - they are winning 9-0 at home, an amazing result, and are having their best season ever yet all they are interested in is singing songs about us and having a communal Caley hate-off. Gawd luv 'em.

The Scotsman Sutherland interview.
To be fair to David Sutherland, it's Cyril that said he'd put ?5,000,000 into the club. Poor journalism really, to be expected from him. I wonder if he followed Sutherland into the toilet to check how the magnate 'measured up' after the interview finished.

Stadium ownership
How long is the lease that the club has on the ground and who is it held with? Also, I recall in 2002/03 a planning application was made by Asda to build a supermarket on part of the ground, which was rejected by the Council. Surely this would have a bearing on any potential development at the stadium site.

Barrowman joins County
Abysmal signing for us. It all looked so promising on his debut as well but really a very poor signing who did nothing in 30 odd games after that to show that he was an SPL or First Division player. Perhaps he'll be one of those players who does well with one particular club.

New announcer dude on the park
It does sound as though the board have been high-handed with this. As pointed out earlier in the thread this is something that's been the case in the past as well. When I was a nipper I sold raffle tickets and the guys within the club who dealt with us were usually a bunch of d1cks. I remember thinking when reading some of CaleyD's posts on this forum that it was something of a contradiction that he regularly posted criticism of the board while being employed by them. Clearly this got too much for the board.

Imrie
Will the Accies fans still sing that charming 'Imrie, die' ditty if he signs for them?

Bulvitis away?
I have to say, just about every time I've seen him I've thought he looks a bit suspect.

Investment Needed NOW
Big companies like Tulloch/Rok etc don't have evil masterplans where the board all get together and decide to run down a football club in order to get them to move stadium so they can develop it. If they did want to run us down, why did Tulloch invest in the club in the early 2000s and continue that through the decade, subsidising the construction of our new stands and our time in the SPL?

You can't take a slab of TL and a couple of bottles of Buckfast on the supporters bus though can you?

Renegade's January Quiz
The North Stand was going to be called the John Scott Superdome. That or the Martin Bavidge End.

Away support
I once went to a midweek friendly with Deveronvale where myself and my mate were the only Caley Thistle fans, unless you count Robbo's kids. It was the week before we beat Celtic in 2003 I think and we drew 1-1 - Tony Low scored.

Investment Needed NOW
I don't think County are in that position anymore. Certainly Roy McGregor used to put substantial sums of money into the club, until he got bored of burning his cash and stopped. If some sugar daddy 'puts ?100k a year' into a club all that tells you is the club is running at a loss of ?100k a year, at least. Even Abramovich has got sick of losing money at Chelsea and has scaled down his spending - investing in football clubs in that wayis an easy, easy way to lose your money. Anyone 'investing' in Caley would basically be handing over their cash for no return and there isn't anyone who would do that, unless we have a secret fan who is an oligarch in the former Soviet Union or an Arab sheikh once met Pele in a casino. Why has this thread been closed?

Investment Needed NOW
Investment in football is always a strange option. What investment do people want to be made? Do they want the current board to have a share release and buy the shares, or arrange to have them bought by interested parties? Should the investment come from someone doing the classic 606, football-fan-cliche and 'putting money into the club'? Say our current board 'put ?xxx,000 into the club' - what should be done with it? Buy a load of players? Build a new stand or club shop? The fact is that approach is disasterous in the long run. Clubs who have benfactors put money in usually end up paying over the odds for players who are bought in a haphazard way. Most of these benefactors end up losing their money and often the clubs end up in financial disaster. If the club started building new stands or club shops then they should all be sectioned - these would be a giagantic waste of money and unless someone was willing to actually pay for them (and I mean actually pay for them in cash) they there's no way they justify the capital expenditure. I'm interested in those on this thread, and elsewhere, who talk of administration - what basis should we be put into administration?
