If you are talking about the stadium sale made when David Sutherland took over the club, have Tullochs not invested over half a million pounds in the club since then? Also, in what way would you say that Sutherland has been bleeding the club dry?

Didn't we also bring in Don Cowie that summer? Yeah, I was going to add that - if it wasn't for us signing COwie and Gretna getting promoted that season, we could have been playing in the First Division last year.

The main point where our performance started to go downhill was the summer of 2007. We had finished strongly but lost two talismanic players, Darren Dods and Craig Dargo. Neither of those players were replaced. From memory the only defender we signed that summer was Steven Watt and the strikers we brought in were Dean McDonald and Marius Niculae. McDonald was a total failure and Niculae wasn't the type of striker we needed. When we had Dargo in the side he offered us a pacy outball, Niculae was a more cultured player but lacked speed (probably due to injuries). If we had bought better in that transfer window I think we'd still be in the SPL. I don't think we actually bought a defender anywhere near as good as Dods until we got Mihadjuks earlier this year! Considering that everyone knew Dods would be off in late 2006 that's absolutely disgraceful. I still don't think we have enough pace in the side, hopefully Imrie or Eric can offer us this when they get to full fitness. I don't buy all the saviour talk about Alan Savage either. He was chairman during that transfer window, wasn't he?

We started poorly, the goals we gave away were very poor and although we probably had more of teh game after that we never really stretched County or made them work hard. Bulvitis can f*ck right off, he is absolutely abysmal. Tokely also didn't do much. Despite his goal I thought Rooney was crap.

That's true actually - there's been nothing on the offical website saying people have to buy tickets and my mates were just going to pay at the gate. Let's hope that there aren't fans locked out.

Both good points. McBain does have a good engine and is naturally left-sided, perhaps giving a better balance to the midfield. Barrowman would benefit from having more forward thinking players pushing up around him and would hopefully get more chances in this formation. however, you can't really tinker with a team that won 5-1 the previous week so I'd expect Butcher (correctly) to stick with the same XI. Also, I see Morton have appointed james Grade and Allan McManus as managers until the end of the season - link.

As I don't get to many home games I have missed his influence. I really do wonder what he is for though - what has he contributed to our club?

In the league this season Rooney has scored once every 164 minutes. If Rooney played 90 minutes of every game and scored at that same goal/minute rate he'd score 19 goals a season. However, that's a bit of a false statistic because he has only started two games - the small sample size is skewing the figures. For example, Derek Holmes is leading goalscorer in the First Division but if you take his goal/minute ratio then it's much the same as Rooney's. this is only because Holmes has played the full 90 minutes most weeks.

His four goals have come against Annan and Albion in the league cup and Partick and Ayr in the league. He started all these games except the Partick game and the Partick goal was the only penalty. Foran, Hayes and Proctor (!) have all scored more goals than Rooney in the league. I don't really know what to make of Rooney, he's often very unimpressive but occasionally produces a good finish or a piece of endevor that really rewards the team. I do think that he doesn't have the pace, strength or skill to be a prolific striker for us though.

He's the ideal player to have on the bench, I think.
