  1. Have you seen him play though? I wonder if that's why we signed him actually. Whether or not he'll be as good as Shinnie is is one thing, but I do think he'll be a first team regular within a couple of seasons.
  2. Disappointed if true, but from what I've seen of Ryan Baptie, he's got to the potential to be a more than adequate replacement in the long run.
  3. HT - ICT 0-1 Accies FT - ICT 2-1 Accies ICT 1st scorer - Warren Accies 1st scorer - Gordon Time of 1st Goal - 28
  4. Is a 4-3-3 with three striker something that could be looked at, to have right go at Accies, essentially trying to overpower them? Something like this - Brill Raven Warren Meekings Tremarco Draper Tansey Shinnie Sekajja Mckay Watkins Subs - Esson, Devine, Ross, Doran, Vincent, Christie, Williams
  5. I'm led to believe this is a fairly regular thing and he did it before when he was at Falkirk. Never witnessed it myself though as I don't sit in the Main Stand, mainly due to the fact I'm not a multi-millionaire!
  6. Aye, Spartans could be a real banana skin!
  7. Nah I've done it a couple of times. Just a tactical mystro!
  8. Expect a surprise appointment. Craig Brown, Jim Gannon and McCall were quite left-field appointments at the time.
  9. I take it that's what's normally called "Jubilee Park" and not actually inside the academy? By the way, is it not a bit weird that County use Grant Street, while we use a pitch behind County's ground? Could we not use Inverness City's ground or somewhere?
  10. I see the next game (Tuesday at "home" to St Johnstone) is down on the SPFL website as being played at the Highland Academy. Where is that? The pitch behind Victoria Park?
  11. Draper's out for this one remember. I'd go with something akin to what we did after Mckay and Christie came on yesterday - Brill Raven Warren Meekings Tremarco Tansey Vincent---------Shinnie Christie Mckay Watkins Subs - Esson, Ross, Devine, Sekajja, Doran, Polworth, Williams
  12. The thing is though that you pick a "scorer". If you put down "no scorer" then you believe no-one will score. If no one indeed scores and you said no-one will score, you do not get the points, because the points are for the scorer and as no-one scored and you said "no-scorer", you do not get the points because there was no scorer. The moral of the story is, name a scorer even if you think no-one will score.
  13. HT - Celtic 0-0 ICT FT - Celtic 0-0 ICT Celtic 1st scorer - Guidetti ICT 1st scorre - Watkins First Goal - 53
  14. No thanks. Seen enough of those neds for one year.
  15. I went to Meadowbank last season prior to our semi-final to calm my nerves watching Edinburgh City play Gala Fairydean Rovers. The amount of stoppages there was while players chased lost balls over the running track was nuts! Also, in the second half, the Gala manager watched the match from the sport centre cafe. Very strange!
  16. I have a bizarre desire to see us get Edinburgh City away at Meadowbank (providing they get past Brora of course). It would just be the most bizarre away trip ever. (And the scariest! That stand's like Ben Nevis!)
  17. Possibly not all were signed. He might have "brought them up" for trials and transfer talks which never came to anything. I see that Kyle Whyte has now gone on loan to junior side Nairn Saint Ninian. I seem to recollect some people saying that they thought he'd make the grade with us.
  18. Is that an opinion or a statement? Granted, Hughes has shown at times that he is capable of mixing it up somewhat, but at times this all-out passing to death, isn't attractive at all - it's mind-numbingly boring. Attractive at times? Yes. But the most attractive ever? Well, considering Steve Paterson's team was once labeled the "most entertaining team in Britain", I have to disagree.
  19. Yeah it was. There's been calls umpteen times for a distinct "singing section" but it's never worked.
  20. As others have said, credit where it is due. I always felt he'd be a better manager with a pre-season behind him and there are certainly aspects to his managerial style that are better than Butcher (who I always thought was rather overrated and not the untouchable genius some people made him out to be). He seems to be a bit more tactically flexible and seems to have more plans about certain scenarios and things like that. The players also seem far fitter under him. I do wish though that he wouldn't be so conservative for some matches and believed in his players' ability a bit more. The cup final and the Rangers games were classic examples of this. Taking the game to two teams who were no great shakes, could have seen a very different outcome. We don't ever need to "take the sting out of the game" in some matches, we need to grab hold of the game and inflict our style of play onto people in every game. Bar none.
  21. You could always take Williams out and put Christie wide left. He played there in the second half against County and I actually thought he looked better there than he does in the centre. As you say, Williams was reasonable yesterday but I think Christie would offer a bit more going forward. What's happened with Doran by the way? Usually one of the first names on the teamsheet, throws a minor tantrum coming off against County and hasn't played since. Wonder if there's been a fallout there.
  22. Seemingly, the Celtic defence struggle against two strikers. With that in mind - Brill Raven Devine Warren Meekings Shinnie Vincent Draper Tansey Watkins Mckay Subs - Esson, Sekajja, Tremarco, Christie, Ross, Williams, Doran Contrary to what I've said earlier, I'd like to see how Mckay would get on as a front-two, with Raven and Shinnie bombing forward.
  23. Remember in 2012-13, Mckay was dropped early on in the season, with Foran taking his place up front. When Mckay eventually won his place back, he was on fire for the next year or so and showed the hunger and prowess we all know he has. Mckay looks frustrated and bereft of confidence. Let's see what Sekajja can do and see if that spurs Mckay on to win his place back. It worked last time around and no player should be immune from being dropped. It could do him the world of good.
  24. Presumably, Mark de Vries was a Dutch citizen and under Dutch law, would have to give up his Surinamese citizenship. This meant that from then on, he would only have been able to play for the Netherlands and not Suriname as well. Some places have him down as Surinamese, but he was never capped for them. Presumably, had he been allowed to, he would have done. EDIT - I also missed Sissoko out of my list. He played up here for Kilmarnock and is from Mali. I also missed Yoann Folly out. He's from Togo and Pa Saikou Kujabi. He's from Gambia. That's 79 nations then.
  25. There's a couple I didn't include - Ryan Baldachinno played for Gretna and expressed an interest in playing for Malta but never did and Mark de Vries was born in Suriname but left after six months of age and never played for their national team. I was always under the impression that he was down as Dutch. A few years back, we had a Colombian centre-back on trial called Enrique Pia. Did he ever turn out for us in a reserve game?
