What really made me sad was not the bad result or the poor performance. It was the behaviour of those Rangers "fans" next to the away end. What were they even there for? Most people go to matches to watch their team and enjoy the game, but they seemed to be the total opposite. Most seemed to be young teenagers, led by gaunt, shell suit clad adults just looking for a fight. Hardly any of their songs were in support of their team. The majority were aimed at us. I knew beforehand that tensions would be running high because of the referendum and the death of Ian Paisley, but I fail to see what that, Union flags or songs about Bobby Sands have to do with a match between a team from Govan and a team from the Highlands. Most brandishing 'No Thanks' signs didn't seem old enough to vote, let alone have an in-depth knowledge of British and Irish politics. What chance do these kids have in life? That was the saddest part of the day of all.

We might have been beaten, but I will continue to support Caley Thistle. Just like my father and his brother Charlie. I will continue to support Caley Thistle, in the name of Jesus!

So you don't want to live in a foreign land, yet you were quite happy living in France?! Once again you play the part of the patronising Englishman, who's moved up here and look upon the locals (who you've described in the past as "bigots" who live "hum drum lives") as less important than you. This stuff about postal costs and crossing the border is just scaremongering. As anyone who's crossed the Irish border will know, you barely know where the UK ends and the Republic of Ireland begins. I can't see us being any different. Maybe as well, if you indeed haven't posted on here much due to "childish jibes" and "idiotic comments", you need to look a bit closer at your own posts and the attitude to which you deal with others. Comments such as those is very much a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Five or six years ago, I'd have jumped at the chance to sign James McFadden. Not anymore though. He was totally anonymous every time I saw him for Motherwell and is barely a shadow of the player he once was.
-
I hope he takes the job myself. Butcher took over at Motherwell and should have been relegated in his first season. Butcher took over at ICT and was relegated in his first season. Butcher took over at Hibs and was relegated in his first season. See a pattern arising here?

There is a depressing parallel between that farce and the independence referendum incoming. Voters were told by the leading parties and the media that proportional representation wouldnt work in the UK as it does in other countries because people here are too stupid to figure it out. We were told that it would confuse us having a different looking bit of paper to tick, ushering in the apocalypse when trying to count votes. The problem with that referendum is that it seemed a lot of people just voted against it because of what Nick Clegg did. For what it's worth, I'd like to see us have an election system akin to the French system.

What made you think "MAHNIOOOOOO" is a person? Could be a chimpanzee mating call for all we know!

Why did you reply to CaleyDawson's post then, when it was a reply to someone else?

The 3rd round games are due on the 23rd and 24th September. No date for the Rangers away game yet though - I've heard speculation that it maybe the week before (16th or 17th September). Oh jeez, they'll be Union Jack/Britain mad!

Been linked a couple of times but was only interviewed for it in 2004 I think. Does anyone else remember the ex-Millwall manager Willie Donachie wanting it when Brewster was sacked? The Highland News linked Henrik Larsson with it last time as well.

ICT U20s played Inverness City tonight apparently. Don't know the score and didn't know it was on!

Manager-wise Rudi Gutendorf has the record for the most international teams managed and signed Steve Paterson for some team in Japan! He's managed Blue Star Zurich, Luzern, US Monastir, Duisburg, Stuttgart, St Louis Stars, Bermuda, Schalke, Kickers Offenbach, Sporting Cristal, Chile, Bolivia, Venezuela, 1860 Munich, Real Vallodolid, Fortuna Koln, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Botswana, Hamburg, Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji, Nepal, Tonga, Tanzania, Hertha Berlin, Sao Tome and Principe, Yomiuri (now known as Tokyo Verdy), Ghana, Nepal, Fiji (was so good they brought him back!), China, Iran U23s, China (again!), Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Mauritius (again!), Rwanda and Samoa! Bizarrely, in his playing career he was a one club man and played for TuS Neuendorf for nine years!

James Vincent has been capped for England C and I think Raven has some English youth caps as well. Seem to remember talk of Vincent switching to Northern Ireland but he wasn't eligible.

There was a thing about Pfannenstiel in FourFourTwo a couple of years back. I see he'd played in New Zealand, Canada and even at the Maracana! This one of the best ones/fall from graces I've come across is Trevor Benjamin. He's even played for two different national teams! Apparently, he was also on trial at Clyde in 2009! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevor_Benjamin Ten points for anyone who can spot his one foreign club!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/i/inverness_ct/3978561.stm Here's an article from 2004, talking about Richard Gough wanting the job. Interestingly at the bottom, it says that Eric Black was being considered and there was even talk of Pele coming back!
-
Kevin MacDonald would be a good for us I reckon. The other two don't seem very exciting though. From what I remember as well, Csaba Laszlow was the first to apply for the job when Butcher went. I think he'd have done a reasonable job, but the football would've been as boring as anything to watch.

Free agents can be signed at any time. There's also a different loan transfer window as well I believe.
-
There's probably a lot of truth in that. The baggage that seems to attract some people won't help either. Obviously not all fans of these clubs are like that, but for some reason there does seem to be a nastier element to their undesirables for some reason.
-
Does anyone remember who else was linked when Baltacha left? I believe Pele was on the radar for a while, but was anyone else linked?
-
True, but there is this line - Wonder if he's counting on Celtic looking to loan him out at some point to get him playing every week, as they did last season sending Jackson Irvine to Kilmarnock.
