  1. Dundee rodgering Rangers added to the fun unless you are a Dunfermline supporter.
  2. Scotland on Sunday's article has a photograph showing Dado Prso and goalscorer 'Bain' in action recently. Someone point out to Moira Gordon that our number two is none other than Big Rossco. Decent article despite the error.
  3. As Elgin make an impressive late charge up their league, Ross County dither at the bottom of theirs. County fans should be worried because Manager Scott Leitch is planning to take them back whence they came. On 30 October after a rather squeaky win against rock bottom Airdrie he said : "I think it's turning for us, slowly perhaps, but turning the right way." On 4 November they lost to rock bottom QOS.
  4. Congratulations to Tommy and the background staff, the players and everyone upwards to Charlie. Ironic that another SPL club tried unsuccessfully to copy our model of club management the last time the club received the MOM award. That's the circle completed. Let's get down to business and move onwards and carefully upwards. Continuous improvement has to be the aim. In some ways it's utterly amazing because as Barry has said and we have seen, we're not actually playing that well at present. Keep it up Charlie.
  5. We are often watched by small crowds when we create history. Aberdeen supporters tend to keep the money in the bank till the last minute to extract the last drop of interest on their money.
  6. When Baltacha took over we became better defensively but boring. For most seasons after he was replaced we attacked teams at all levels and built a formidably reputation. We met SPL teams and found them boring machines who often panicked when attacked. We joined the SPL and caught the disease. We need to defend like **** in this league, keep the ball, but as we showed against Falkirk attack is a tremendous form of defence. Every time we sit back and defend a lead we get punished. I recall Stewarty getting a hat trick against the Dons in a friendly we actually won. In 6 SPL games between us there have been just 6 goals. I hope we rebuild our home record based on continuous attack behind our sound defence and fit midfield and that we start on Monday with Denzil and Harty leading the initial charge. One good win against the Dons will give us the confidence we need and bring more spectators into Caledonian Stadium. Aberdeen were initially at panic stations against Hibs but stabilised and eventually got the break with KJillen's sending off and the late goal.
  7. Craig Levein is a clever guy. On buttons at Raith after picking up a package from Leicester he's now guaranteed about £125,000 when the grocer loses faith in him. I felt he looked terribly uncomfortable with a Dundee United scarf and tie on yesterday. His first task is to survive until the transfer window and if United are adrift his best bet will be to hire consultants and hope they are good footballers too! If Division 1 looms, long term contracts for quality players will be unlikely. Dunfermline look as though they have a good squad. Brewster got rid of his good players and has demoralised the rest.
  8. Judgement time is next Monday night. Let's keep the powder dry and ambush the Dons and see how Grampian report that result without mentioning ICT.
  9. He said: "It's going well and I'm enjoying my football but it's the travelling aspect. I want something closer to home.'' Well buy a house in Inverness. Your girlfriend and any offspring will love it in Inverness. Look how happy Craig Brewster was when he lived and worked up here.
  10. Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson said, “I felt it was in the best interests of the Club to move swiftly and appoint an experienced Manager without undue delay. I have made extensive enquiries with knowledgeable people in the game and Craig Levein not only comes highly recommended in every category of the criteria set by the Board, but has a proven track record and an excellent reputation for man management. He also has extensive contacts in England and abroad and these will be important as we look to strengthen the squad in the next transfer window. I am delighted to be able to announce his appointment today.” Craig Levein said, “I am delighted to join Dundee United and to be back in the SPL. ............................... when Mr Thompson spoke with me about this job I felt I had to take the opportunity to come here. I fully appreciate the scale of the task before me but I am confident that I can help Dundee United to climb the league. I am under no illusions......................................................... .......................... that there will be an easy quick fix, but I would not have taken the job if I did not believe I could make a difference nor would I have considered coming to Tannadice if I did not believe that there was a determination to succeed within the Club. "I have some experience of managing change .................................................................. ............ this is not a club ‘in crisis’. ......., the budget is reasonable, ................the playing squad is better than the league position suggests. ...... I am confident for the future.” THE END.
  11. Not as cheap as this: "Inverness tried very hard to keep us, with a contract offer through to 2009, but I just feel there's great potential at Dundee United," continued Brewster. "The fans believe they should be better than where they are because there are good players, but I say the league position never lies. But there is potential - a great stadium, good training facilities, a great fan-base and, sure, they've got some decent players. Terry Butcher's Sydney team drew tonight and his chairman may help Dunfermline make the correct decision.

    WYNESS

With some very hard fixtures coming up it's time to make Denzil very angry. He's due some goals on his return possibly from midfield to give us more options.
  13. Barnsley are the Dundee United of Yorkshire..... 22 Barnsley 14 -10 12 23 Southend 14 -13 10 24 Hull 14 -10 9 Darren Dods is contracted to ICT until May 2007 afterwhich it is possible both his suitors will have been relegated.
  14. That's bad news for us - we play at Celtic Park on the Saturday before their Tuesday game against Manchester United. Looks as though we will be given more attention that the Red Devils.
  15. The thread should be serialised by the BBC and given the title 'Donedee Disunited' or 'ET go home' staring Jim MacLean.
  16. Ralphy Boy Who said I was criticising Brewster in its entirety? Dundee United have deep rooted problems and Brewster's failing was that emotion and money sucked him in. Money will suck him out and I am sure he will then head to Greece to lick his wounds and start work again. Potentially he is a very good professional person and I give him great credit for the way that he has built himself up in society and looked after his physical fitness. Very few people today would suggest he has done a good job for Dundee United this time around. In fact he has been brutally honest that his record is completely unacceptable and his use of inexperienced players yesterday shows that like Bertie, he lacks faith in the squad he built up. Why did he ditch highly experienced players and then argue a few months later he didn't have any experience in the team? Craig feels you have to plumb the depths before you can start climbing again.Clubs need decent fans like yourself to stay to the renaissance.
  17. It's like Dad's Army, bottom by one point, 25 or more games to go, 2 more wins likely and with the crowd shouting 'Don't Panic'. Stillie dropped after calling a crisis meeting to support the Manager. The press think it's all over, ......
  18. He needs the pay off - the Grocer will offer £150,000 and Brewster will go fo £80,000, hesitate and go back and ask for £65,000.
  19. Post match BBC Radio Scotland 'Right at the start of the game we lost a goal at the start. It was either going to go one way or the other given the team I put out. It went the other way.' He must be an inspiration in his team talks.
  20. Barry Robson today "If we can start turning draws into wins you'll see us climb the table.''
  21. Should the question not be : Which club is in greater turmoil Hearts Dundee United
  22. Heard a Hearts fan on the radio last week point out that Romanov had not spent a penny on Hearts. OK his bank might just be servicing its debts but Romanov was far from a white knight. Virtually all the players were on loan deals and as we saw during the week some transfers are being questioned. We now know he plans Scotlands first car boot sale for football players come Sunday if Dunfermline can extract three points.
  23. 13 January 2006 Brewster takes over at Tannadice Brewster added: "It's very difficult to walk away but I've been given an opportunity that I feel is right for me at this moment." I'm setting no targets other than to get the best out of the players. I'm looking for better performance levels, and if we get that, we'll get results. 23 October 2006 The funereal atmosphere around Tannadice these days is understandable. Mair ''God knows what direction we're going in," Alex Smith. ''Craig needs help.''
  24. 24 October 2006 Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson insists it is 'business as usual' despite speculation over the future of player-manager Craig Brewster. 16 December 2005 Dundee United manager Gordon Chisholm insists it is "business as usual" even though he could face the sack if his side do not beat Dunfermline Athletic.
  25. The Grim Reaper - My heart has always been at Tannadice and I hate to see them in the position they're in.........and anyway Craig Brewster's still the manager.
