  1. Agree with IHE - Zander looked very impressive in his cameo role against Dunfermline. Equally Rory is only a brilliant goal away from leading the line on a regular basis. If we bring in mercenaries we change the culture of the club. We develop our own unless we find hungry guys looking to add to ICT's traditions. Riordan whinged and whinged at Hibs for a big money move. Many players have screwed up through greed and unrealistic ambition. It was one reason we offered Ian Black advice to get his game right before taking a move.
  2. If you are a big team you have to start somewhere. Celtic home in their next game whilst Motherwell entertain Dunfermline. United will have a chance to show the SPL where their old firm training regime has taken them. Bottom place! A swap with Gretna would be Brewster's next target. Thank goodness they don't want to become a diddy team like us.
  3. The Scotsman Dundee Utd Grant Smith has agreed a short-term deal with the Terrors after he impressed during a trial at Tannadice (BBC Online). The 26 year-old midfielder was a free agent after being released by Bristol City. Craig Brewster welcomed the new man, saying: "Subject to clearance, Smith will turn out for the reserves tomorrow. All being well, he will be included in the squad for Sunday's game against Hearts." Insert mean-spirited crack about Smith never having played for Caley Thistle here. Craig Brewster has revealed he's going to cut back on his playing duties so he can concentrate more on running the team (Sun). He said: "I enjoy it more when I'm on the sidelines, so the ideal scenario from now on is either to be a substitute or out of it altogether." And think of it Craig, you'll have even more time to scout Inverness Caley players. I really must get over this obsession.
  4. We may be just four points off the bottom which is clearly better than 2 if it had been 0-0 so lets be positive. Rossco really wanted the win yesterday. He will inspire others to want to win and by that I mean guys like Rankin who's finding it quite hard at this level. Barry has been driving like **** to get breakthroughs. Mark and the back four worked very hard as a team yesterday. That's four league games without defeat. Rangers is a massive game because they will regroup after the internationals and will prove very dangerous. We could be Kilmarnock supporters today! Or Elgin or Forfar or Ross County supporters. We do give the impression that behind the current malaise which has its roots in Brewsters unethical and childish behaviour, that sooner rather than later, we will up the work rate and produce a great performance.
  5. He left for Champions League experience eventually. Mark Brown may well leave at the end of this season and he should get a ,assive thank you. Denzil and Barry have both gone out and improved their pension rights.
  6. Charlie is right about the TV money being greatfully received. I can see both sets of fans having grievances and we might lose money. We have a great chance to get a first win if Aberdeen continue to whinge.
  7. They are in a cup final after beating the mighty Albion Rovers 4-1.
  8. Alan Freeland to Falkirk's Stephen O'Donnell 'Have you been booked already?' The ref asked me the most stupid question ever,” O’Donnell said. “He asked if I’d been booked already. I said ‘no’.”
  9. Next week's game at the Pittodrie Tulloch's Seaside Stadium was always a key game. The club psychologist will have his work cut out but the fans can help.
  10. Charlie Tell the press that our vote of confidence in Charlie is miles in excess of our belief that you will one day become a fine athlete. This thread has been populated by a very small sample which is probably hardly representative and from your professional day job, it is inconceivable that you would regard your current superficial findings and conclusion as scientific.
  11. It does make extremely good sense. Assuming he can still play the odd game it also gives us cover.
  12. In the days when we went into the league we attacked all teams with a Braveheart thrust. We saw higher level teams playing dull football. We thought it was a malaise caused by their fear of losing or their arrogance at swatting the diddy team from Nessyland - we had no fear of losing. Football was fun and exciting and we were a great cup team. Now that we are 'better' we are in a cup malaise ourselves. We seem to be demotivated. I hope this is temporary. Maybe in the minds of the players they want an Intertoto place and feel let down by UEFA this summer. The CIS Cup ends at Hampden so the carrot is not there. Maybe we will be driven by the need to survive in this league at Kilmarnock this Saturday because a defeat and home defeat by Dunfermline and a few wins by Motherwell would put us well and truly where the sun don't shine.
  13. If it goes to extra time and penalties we will get better value for money so lets hope for 4-4 at full time, 6-6 after exttra time. I recall the days when 0-0 was an extreme rarity now we get two in three home games. No, I am hoping we are losing 4-1 at half time and then recover to win 5-4 in full time.
  14. Little bit unfair I feel some of the comments have been. Have you run around in baking sunshine for 95 minutes? Dundee United at back, held the ball, and although we gained good chances, we didn't make the beakthrough. Luckily Dundee United didn't either. So it's onwards and upwards against Falkirk and then an even trickier game against Kilmarnock. But hey, would you rather be watching County?
  15. Said in the Courier that Richie Hart was suffering from a cold - so end of conspiracy theory.
  16. Kenny Clark has been designated to take care of Robson who returns from suspension after just been made Captain to curb his behavioural problems.
  17. On reflection we should cheer Brewster onto the technical area when he comes out. Build his arrogance to a new peak and then systematically slaughter his new bunch of travelling mercenaries. Then clap him off at the end. I cannot see the need to be cynical or nasty. Just teach him a lesson before he gets in first.
  18. Don't write off McAllister and Bayne going on a good run. Who knows Keogh might remember he was a prolific scorer when he joined us. Barry could yet start scoring regularly.
  19. Fair and decent and one who does not tolerate whingeing ginger wingers or player managers.
  20. If we sneak this one, Dundee United will be in deep mud or peatbog especially if Motherwell beat them. Dundee United have a very difficult run of games. Having said that, if we blow it, we sink again so this game is titanic. For Brewster it might be the straw that broke the Camel's back and send the Arab to Greece for a long term holiday. This is a massive tug of war and it would be sweet if Barry had the last laugh with Brewster. This game will definitely be our toughest in a long time. We have to be much hungrier to win this game. It means more to us. We have to be tight at closing down Conway's delivery or Robson's delivery and shots.
  21. Brewster felt United ended a good run today so with Robson back next week we must prevent them overtaking us. Tactics will be interesting on both sides. It won't be easy.
  22. We've put him in the shop window to sell to an Aussie club.
  23. In the last few weeks I have heard commentators remark on a number of international goal keepers make mistakes or mis a cross. Leighton dropped a major cross at United. In the world cup top keepers made errors and most needed a spot of like. Mark has worked hard on improving his game. Niemi's career did not take off until his late 20's. Mark will one day crack it at international level but the problem seems to be Walter Smith has something on him from their Ibrox days. Next week Smith has to do a Bullock against Hearts whilst Mark has to hold Brewster's heavily pumped up squad at bay - with some help from everyone else including I hope a big crowd.
  24. It is just a game and our thoughts go out to Ross McCabe for a quick and full recovery. Equally I trust Jimmy's dislocation has been sorted successfully. The Hinckley lad's family have our full support and sympathies.
