  1. 26 goals in Scotland really only equates to 13 goals in real life (European football). If you then take into account that there is such inequality in the SPL, in terms of players available to Rangers (& Celtic), then goals scored alone, is no way to judge a player when trying to pick your international squad. George Burley is more than aware of this, as is Walter Smith. This is why Miller gets picked because if he was judged on goals alone, he wouldn't play. If Boyd was good, he would get picked. It's not in a managers own interest to leave thier top goalscorer out of the side for no reason. That's as simplistic as picking a goal keeper based on goals conceded. Norway have players with far more experience of European football than we have. Why are they regarded as a poor team? They must look at us and feel they dropped two points, not the other way round!! Riise is better than any player we have, as is Carew and Braaten and if James Mcfadden is a national hero in Scotland, what would it be like if Pederson was Scottish? He would be first minister!!! Burley has an impressive record with Ipswich and Hearts, even if his time with the latter was cut comically short. The results in the friendlys don't matter, thats why less people go to watch them. Macedonia was poor but, again, have Scotland had a player as good as Goran Pandev to call up in recent times? Why is Macedonia away judged to be an easy 3 points? Gordon's kicking let us down in that game (constantly kicking possesion back to the opposition), so thats Burley's fault!? When we lost to Georgia away because the players were allowed to go out and play under the belief that the game was already won, no one blamed Mcleish. Have you looked at N.Ireland recent results over the last three qualifying competitions? They ain't that bad. I believe that Burley is the right man. I also beleive that no manager, no matter what his record, or without consideration for the problems his squad (or the fringes of his squad) are causing, will ever get full backing. Even if it was Fergie.
  2. Hopefully just for this season.
  3. I don't live in Inverness but my 'source' tells me Gellions only had 2 players the other night..... and that they are 'not that good' but will hopefully get better...........
  4. Right, I need to stop posting on this topic or, I am going to turn gay(er). I also think Elliot is quite cute.
  5. People are going to keep falling for this one.........
  6. Ha ha! I sniggered like a wee boy there!!!!
  7. I have those same thoughts when i'm asleep but I call them dreams. Brewster is my 'drinking buddy'.
  8. Aye, but Boyd probably wouldn't have got that chance because he is the most imobile (speeling?) 'sportsman' in the history of humanity. You can't legislate for people missing chances like that............
  9. Do the players read this forum? I hope Barrowman doesn't, poor chap.
  10. I don't actually see what the problem is with Burley. See if Iwelumo had burried THAT chance against Norway, we would be siging Burley's praises......
  11. I'm gay, i'm sure of it.
  12. I went to watch Rovers V Millwall (everything people say about them is true!!) last year and the atmosphere was brilliant!! Standing all the way.
  13. Butcher thinks he's a dik. He must do, cause he is. We're going to draw 0-0 with them and the Dons fans won't like it one bit........
  14. That's a different point entirely... I also think we have/had stronger candidates for the captaincy but I can't understand how anyone can suggest that Duff is a better player than Munro. Duff has had a hand full of appearances in his very short career, most of which we lost and most of which he was a culprate for 1 of the goals..... yes Duff has potential to be a very good player but it sums up the mentallity of our support to suggest that on so little evidence they think that he is a better player than Munro. Similar to Zander.... just because you have seen him do some keepy ups at the side of the pitch doesn't mean he has the standard required to mix it in the SPL. Brown Tokely Dods Munro Hastings As I mentioned previously, the above defence let in less goals than every other team apart from the old firm. Fraser, didn't work out for whatever reason but now we have Esson who has been excellent this season. Dods was a big miss, we had a massive hole in the centre of defence until Mihadjuks turned up but now he is in the team we look as solid as ever... get Hastings back in the team and we'll be back to our best defensively. Munro is a tried and tested centre half who sweeps perfectly for the ball winner... Well said. Take out Lionel, and we're sound!!
  15. Of the top of my head..... Trezeget, Van Bronkhorst, Davids, Seedorf, Zidane, McCall, Gough, Goram, The white guy for Trinidad and Tobago, Thuram, Karembou, Owen Coyle, Ray Houghton, Tommy Coyne, Camronasi, Olisadebe, Kanoute, Jimmy Floyd, Maloney, Deco, Eusebio (if he hadn't, would he still be remembered as a great player? I doubt it!), Di Stefano (3 different countries I think!), Puskas, Hemdani (SPL's most under rated player?), Kompany, Mpenza, Mpenza, Hargreeves, Poldoski, Klose, Dhorasoo, Darren Gison, Phil Babb, Rossi, Adu, Senna, half the UK basketball team, the Ghurkas and 'The Edge' have all done a 'Mcgeady', and prospered. Giggs did a Giggs, played for Wales in the qualifiers, and pulled out of every Wales friendly he could. He regretted picking Wales, I'm sure of it. He played with Robbie Savage, whilst Hargreeves gets to play with Gerrard. Maybe Mcgeady would have played for Scotland if he didn't think he would have to play with **** like Ferguson. Who knows? Mcgeady WANTED to play for Scotland school boys but the SFA wouldn't LET him. Plus, with the way he gets treated for his desicion, he's hardly going to regret it is he? P.S Whilst I realise that my spelling of some of the above names are nothing short of an assault on the English language, I hope my point still remains valid........
  16. Something I just read has made me change my mind on this. Spare a thought for the normal Newcastle fan. I've read there are some out there. Ones that actually doubt that putting an inexperienced manager in charge will help them. We never get to hear what they say though because, they don't turn up in a replica top, to the latest messiah hailing press conference, shouting "Shearer's black and white army". They stay at home, or work (how do all these people manage to turn up through the day anyway?) cringing..............
  17. If you can't beat caley with Zebi-Zadi giving you the ball like that, you have to wonder! St Midden and Killie will be keeping an eye out for each others results I think. Falkirk have some decent, experienced players and showed they can put the ball in the net against us, whilst Hamilton have a wee bit of talent in their team. As long as Foran and Morias (when he's trusted enough to get on) keep running at people, we'll be alright.
  18. Mcgeady wasn't allowed to play for Scotland schoolboys because he played for a pro club (or summit like that) but, Ireland didn't care who he played for. Ireland got him young. It's not his fault. It's the SFA. I'm not sure about McCarthy. He STILL hasn't been capped and can change his mind until that happens, or he turns 21........
  19. yeah, I saw it on Rangers TV yesterday, it didn't look good. Get well soon.
  20. The only thing that could make Newcastle funnier would be if Barry Ferguson was made manager and Mcgregor his assistant!!
  21. well done to Rangers and the SFA. We will be fine without them.
  22. Very good point indeed......
  23. Well, they can't be very good if, as is suggested in this article, Barr may get on the park!!! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle5971234.ece Doomed!
  24. which Mason are you? The one with TWO s in his sir name and refused to play for his school after some really poor team selections.... :thumb04:
  25. That is fecking hard question to answer but, McNiel. He seems to just have confidence issues wheres as Yves is really bad.
