I wouldn't worry about that, studies have shown than children of that age often start with a more radical view point and grow in to sanity as they get older. Radical I can handle mate, vile blatent hatred is a bit harder but I can see where you're coming from. C'mon now Oz, don't be so sensitive. It's rivalry and banter. People use the word rascist far too readily nowadays. I have had to listen to things like "jock scum" and "jock c***s when I was working in England. I just shrugged it off. Believe me in England there is far more animosity towards the Scots than vice versa. Dam, Believe me mate I'm not the sensitive type. After 22 yrs in the army I have learnt to tell the difference between banter and hatred. I have lived with all nationalities, be it "Jocks", "Taffs", "Paddys" or any of the other diverse range of people that I have come into contact with. I have lived with the Falkland Islanders, The Bosnians, Germans, Cypriots, Spanish, Danish, Canadians, Australians, South Africans, etc etc etc. Some of the above nationalities have experienced real racism and hatred. During this time however I have also experienced great banter between the different countries. My point is I believe that I can pretty much tell banter from plain hatred and nastiness. Most on here have a normal outlook on the English and their team ie: Don't really care about the former and want the latter to get beaten every game. That is normal and I have no probs with that, unfortunately there are the odd few that carry a deep resentment towards the English in general and find the need to vent this whenever possible. This I find offensive and sometimes falls into the racist area (**** the English wankers). If I was to say (and I wouldn't dream of it) "**** you Scottish pr1cks" would you not find it offensive or would you think it was banter? Now before you answer, take into account the person saying it is well known for his anti everything views and his quickness to belittle people. Anyway ref your experience with the English, you obviously need to hang out with a better class of people. B)

Agree totally with your top point and the bottom one causes no offence just a rye smile as I see it for what it is, banter.

I had better clarify my point. Hating the team is not a problem even though hate is a bit strong. It's all banter and I'm all for that. I expect there will be a lot of "banter" between now and the end of the world cup or at least until England are out of it. A dislike of county is also not racist unless you call them one of the many colourful names that have been used in the past. "**** the English wankers" is not banter it is racist and it is offensive. Especially coming from DornochCaley given his stance on all things English. (From previous "chats") By all means have fun at the expense of the English or anyone else for that matter but don't cross the line from banter to racism or offence. Nuff said PS: I think the Tshirts are quite funny actually. Predictable but funny

Actually I think you'll find that your first statement is racist but then again I expect nothing less from you.

Here we go again. Just once I'd like Scotland to qualify to give the anti English minds something else to think about. I must admit most of you see this as it's meant, banter but there will always be a few small minded folk who take it too far. Come on England

  14. I've had a couple of disputes dealt with by paypal. I was the buyer in both cases but it is pretty much the same in both cases. One of you will start the dispute by going to the resolution centre on paypal. Type in the complaint. Paypal contact the other party and then adjudicate over the issue. When they have reached a decision they let both of you know and issue/retrieve money as necc. Hope this helps
  15. Congrats to you both. It's nice to see some happy news in amongst all the doom and gloom.

  17. Yep. A defender who just hoofs the ball up the park and doesn't go on surging runs up the wing should fit in with TB's style of play. He can do cartwheels if he scores goals like that every game.

Top6, this is not aimed at you this is just answering the question in general. Maybe we should start by not sending 20,000,000 to Haiti or the millions sent to Iraq to rebuild what we destroyed. Don't get me wrong I feel very sorry for them but I feel just as sorry for the lads buying their own kit because the government wont supply it or the people who had their houses destroyed in the floods or the people living on the streets or the old people who choose between heating or food in the winter. Maybe we should start by cutting MP's wages and expenses. Making sure that all these MPs forced to step down at the next election due to dodgy expense claims, don't get big fat golden handshakes. Now that would save us a few quid. I find it strange that the Uk can always find money to help others but never to help our own. Rant over

Why are you attempting to put words in someone else's mouth? The OP said nothing of the sort but you're trying to make him out to be in favour of Islamic extremists, when it's pretty clear he's against Christian/Western extremism, exemplified by Bush & Blair. Or should I say how disappointed you are that you can't vote Blair in again as you fundamentally believe 'our boys' should have the right to invade any non-Christian country? Probably not, but you take my point? Georgios - your posts are very difficult to read and I'm still not sure what you're saying. Do you mean that the torture by Americans was an excuse for the torture of Americans? Or is it the other way around? Nevertheless, the invasion of Iraq was a huge catalyst for the radicalism of young Muslims and a breeding ground for racists too. Withdrawal of US troops from Saudi Arabia (would Catholics like Muslim soldiers in Vatican City?), a creation of a Palestinian state (to think how close Rabin was - how different the world would have been without that assassination) and a hands-off approach to other countries would take down the extremist threat (both from fascists and islamists) to almost zero. And you know what? It's also the right decision too. Starchief, I was not attempting to put words into anyone's mouth or suggesting that anyone is pro anything. If that is the way it seemed I am sorry. It is obviously the way I phrased my question. I have now edited it so it should fall in the acceptable guidelines of questions. If it is still not to your liking, well hey as the song says "That's life" Just for the record, I don't agree with the Iraq/Afghan wars, we shouldn't be there but while we are I will defend the boys/girls out there giving up there lives so that we can get a bus/train/plane without the fear of not getting to our destination.
  24. I think I would have to agree with Birdog on this. The only arguement I can foresee is, it may depend in which capacity he is visiting. Is he visiting as the head of a country (The Vatican) or as the head of the Church? If it's the latter the church should pay for his security. Others may argue that it is an honour to have him here so we should pay but as I'm not a religious man why should I pay out of my taxes for his visit. I think this one will run and run. :D

Don't you think that the pictures from Abu Ghraib Prison in Baghdad, during Tony Blair's illegal war in Iraq, which clearly showed Iraqui people being tortured by their US captors, might just have had something to do with the radicalisation of young muslims in this country? Those "extremists" you refer to that live in the UK may very well be extremists now, but they weren't always extremists. Just because they saw some photos of alledged torture in Iraq doesn't mean they become Jihadists overnight it is bred into them over a long period. It's not a case of "Oh I don't like that picture I think I'll go and blow myself up and take some innocent people with me". If those pictures upset you please don't watch all the videos on the net showing those same extremists cutting people's heads off whilst they beg for their lives. On a slightly less violent scale DO you think it right that the muslim protesters that jeered our boys homecoming had nothing done to them but the brits that stood up to them were arrested on the spot?
