  1. I find myself genuinely ambivalent as to whether JH signs a new contract with us or moves to Dundee United who, despite not being the force they once were, would be in a position to offer him a 50% increase in his own personal salary and in his player budget. If he opts to stay and sign a new deal then we have a manager who has proved a few doubters, including this poster, wrong and who will be a safe enough pair of hands going forward. If he decides to go then we have replaced better, if not necessarily more successful, managers in the past and am sure that the club will continue to progress and move forward in his absence with his name indelibly etched on our honours board as the first but, in due course, not the only manager to guide us to a major trophy. For these reasons I don't want him to go but will not be unduly upset if he does. The only manager I ever actively wanted to go was Craig Brewster (second coming) and the only managers I was ever particularly sorry to see leaving were Pele and Robbo. Management teams come and go and our club continues to progress and prosper. It will be the same this time if Yogi decides that he prefers tangerines to Subway sandwiches.
  2. A well deserved call up he is, without doubt, international class. Actually, he's been international class and the best left back in the country for at least the last two years. Pity the Scotland management team failed to recognise that until now.
  3. Kingsmills replied to izzy's topic in Caley Thistle
Thanks. Thought it was more than 2,200. It must be at least 2,500 as our record crowd is 7,753 against the former Glasgow Rangers and you are right about the Main Stand capacity.

Do the South and North Stands not each have a capacity of 2,600 ?
  5. I remember how buzzing I was the first time I saw that advert! Getting a bit off topic in terms of books and magazines, but I remember a programme with Gordon Ramsey where they were sitting at the Caley stadium during a game an had an Aberdeen Angus burger at half time, don't ask me what it was about though! Sad enough to know that was 'Kitchen Nightmares' and an episode featuring Abstract at La Riviera.....
  6. Off topic I know but well done to St Johnstone last night for popping the Rangers balloon. They clearly learned their lesson from last season when, just like ourselves before them, they treated the Ibrox club with too much and unwarranted respect. Last night they treated them as the Championship team they are and got their just reward...
  7. Even then, be careful, they are pasta their sell by date...
  8. The prospect of County finishing ahead of us in the league is bad enough.....
  9. Does nobody recognise irony when they see it ?......
  10. I'm not sure we are in a position to field a weakened team with much confidence of winning. I would much rather have a confidence boosting victory.
  11. Can't agree. Yes there was contact and if the ref sees it it's a red card but there was never anything like enough contact to send him down. That was pure gamesmanship. I realise it's part of the modern game but I'd rather not see our players indulge in it.
  12. Because he once played for Celtic.....
  13. A huge step up in class for Gary when he takes on Olympic Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in London tomorrow evening. The Highlander is the outsider but is not without a chance of maintaining his 100% record and truly announce himself on the World stage. All the best Gary.....
  14. Mainly that I'm on the committee at Whitehill and we took Lothian's manager and their 4 best players. the other bits are just hearsay. Bit of a hike for Whitehill....
  15. The let him prove it and score against the big team.....
  16. All guess work on the part of journalists I suspect.
  17. Well said Laurence, and, more to the point, it's just part of football life and has been since the professional game was established a century and a half ago. Smaller teams lose their best players to larger and wealthier rivals. The small team invariably survives and, if lucky, goes on to develop further young talent and the cycle continues. Those who are having a dig at Ryan would almost certainly do the same as he has done where the fortunate enough and talented enough to find themselves in the same circumstances.
  18. What was the lad meant to do put on the Celtic top which he would have been requested to do so by his new employers and sit with a glum face to please the likes of yourself? He should have refrained wearing the top until after this loan deal whether that be in January or the summer All he has now done is alienate himself to a section of the ICT support Dougal A very small section in my view. Most fans will still be behind Ryan as long as he is still wearing an ICT shirt...
  19. The cash from UEFA is approximately half of what you suggest. Just enough to convert what would have been a significant deficit on our European venture into a very modest five figure profit. The net figure from our cup win is substantial but a good bit short of half a million.
  20. That's very harsh! We've not had a good start and things are not looking particularly rosy either but I think we all know we want to keep Yogi here. (obviously not the folk who are desperate for the day they can say "I told you so - never wanted him in the first place" but we'll ignore them) Personally, I think the manager's contract position should be considered in January and the performance of the team, now very much more his team, between now and then should be a determining factor in whether or not his contract should be renewed and on what terms.
  21. The boy is a Celtic fan, he always gave his all for ICT and contributed greatly to our success last season and am sure will continue to give 100 % until he leaves. His sale has put some much needed cash in our coffers. Give the lad a break.....
  22. Eddy Ofere still appears without a club. Without breaking the bank, we could probably offer him a little more now than we were able to at the end of last season. In the absence of anyone else coming in, that might be worth a punt.
  23. Would you point me to a single post I have made suggesting that ' the animal should be put down' during Yogi's tenure ? I have only ever called for the club to part company with one manager in our whole history and that was Craig Brewster towards the end of his second spell in charge. I note that you are not a 'happy clapper' Accordingly, when you are searching for posts of me calling for the manager to be culled you might also point me to some of your own posts in any way critical of the club. One thing I do agree with you on is that we all have differing views and opinions and thank goodness for that or these fora would be very dull indeed. Incidentally, are you still of the view that we will finish ahead of Aberdeen and are likely to be the only team to come close to Celtic in the league this season ?
  24. I have kept quiet long enough, I am sick of the doom and gloom merchants telling us how clever they are by telling us our manager is not doing the right things. Next you will be saying that J H has done nothing for the club. You didn't want him in the first place and now you are ' calling ' him again. Why can't you lay off and give him another chance to prove you wrong and the same goes for our new arrivals, they haven't even unpacked their cases and you are not satisfied with them. What a welcome what a wonderful impression of our Club and supporters you are giving them.......sad sad sad! There was me hoping you might stay quiet for a little longer Seriously though, you need a little bit of perspective, there is not a single soul calling for the manager's head as might well have been the case with fans of other clubs. We all give the manager a great deal of credit for, together with Russell Latapy organising the team he inherited so well that we had unprecedented success last season. However, Russell has gone and that team has lost many of it's key figures and it's no secret that this season has not started well and that few of the new recruits have started the season setting the heather on fire. I know that expressing concern, even in a constructive way, upsets the 'happy clappers' but doing so simply reflects concern for the club we all love and support and is in no way being disloyal to the team or the manager. Those of us who voice legitimate fears and concerns will be every bit as delighted as those of you who are never critical at all if and when the team and the manager turns things around but, for now, these concerns remain and the events of the last couple of days have done little to dispel them.
  25. Are you arguing that Ryan was contracted to the club for two more full seasons subject only to triggering the club's option ? If so, I think most fans would be very surprised and disappointed indeed that he was sold today for a figure that would suggest that is not the case.
