  1. In our current circumstances the only priotity has to be points on the board and that was achieved today although I admit much of itb was not pretty, As far as Imrie is concerned, he is always enthusiastic and hard working but he's not one of nature's natural strikers.
  2. Funnily enough that echos the sentiments of many Thistle and Caley fans a decade and a half ago and just look how far we've come since then !
  3. The award for February goes to Motherwell's Mark McGhee which seems fair enough to me. I'd be happy to see Butcher pick up April's award which would surely mean ICT were safe from relegation.
  4. Wouldn't have a problem with that - in fact I think the word "Inverness" in the name alienates us from a lot of folk in the Highland region. A name like Highland F.C. would I think extend the appeal of the club to a much larger area and would surely benefit our attendances. Having survived the trauma of one merger I would have no difficulty in principle with another if there was a genuine prospect of furthering professional football in the north. If the figures are to be believed County regularly attract crowds in the region of 2,500 if even half of these could be persuaded to watch a combined team in the SPL and at least half of their commercial income could be retained then that would equate to additional turnover in excess of a million pounds which, prudently used, could see the combined team regularly in the top six and making the occasional foray into Europe.
  5. My son's a goalie and it's been a bugbear of mine for years I can't get him an ICT goalie top.
  6. Seems to me that ICT are no worse than many clubs in this respect and better than most.
  7. He's moving back to his native Edinburgh and more than doubling his salary at the same time. Can't see him changing his mind.
  8. My initial view was that there had been contact and that Russell was making the most of it. TV replays clearly show that there was little or no contact and that he was cheating. Russell is one of my favourite players his contributions often going unhearalded but his actions yesterday in trying to get a fellow professional wrongly sent off were a disgrace and are shameful both for himself and the club. In my opinion, having seen the TV replays, he was more deserving of a red card than Lionel.
  9. My initial impression was that although Russell went down a bit easily he had been the victim of a head but. TV replays clearly demonstrate that there was, in fact, little or no contact. The fact is that he cheated in order to try to get a fellow professional wrongly sent off. I'm a geat fan of Russell's I believe he is one of our unsung stalwarts but his conduct yesterday was a disgrace. He should be ashamed of himself !
  10. The penalty and sending off changed the complexion on the game which we were increasingly coming to grips with. The referee was extremely poor but had no option than to award the penalty. The fault for our defeat today does not lie with the ref but with Lionel. He had appeared a different player under Butcher but his revesion to type may well have cost us our first ever national final given the way other quarter final results are panning out. Lionel's rush of blood to the head may well have cost the club ?600,000.
  11. Defeat to Motherwell may well deprive him of the Manager of the Month award for February thereby avoiding the curse that normally goes with the award.
  12. I wouldnt be too sure. It might only be a cup game but Falkirk are going to come out all guns blazing as they need to prove that they are up for a dogfight. St Mirren are only 4 points ahead of us and 5 of Falkirk so if St Mirren get another few draws before the split and both Caley and Falkirk win then they it will be a 3 way fight. Killie (H) Falkirk (A) St Mirren(H) Aberdeen(A) Accies (h) We have every chance of winning our remaining games whilst Falkirk have to play the both the OF, whilst St Mirren have to play Rangers. If we win when they 2 play the old firm then we can leave the dogfight to these 2. I can actually see it being a four way fight with Kilmarnock being dragged into the equation.
  13. I'm quite happy to be distracted by a couple of days out at Hampden !
  14. Personally' I'd be disappointed to see us take less than 4 points from our next two league matches. Anything less would be a setback. 6 points would be a real bonus anmd would go a long way to securing our league future.
  15. Never doubted that he would continue to be committed to the cause in just the sane way as Dods when he had signed a pre contract with the Arabs.
  16. That's what I thought. Looks like history's on our side !
  17. The difference may well be that he didn't have Maurice Malpas with him at Brentford. Neither have a particularly good record of managing on their own but as a combination they seem to have something.
  18. When's the last time a team defeated one of the Old Firm and were relagated in the same league season ?
  19. His doubters, myself included, who are expecting him to revert to type and have an absolute howler may, with a bit of luck, have a very long time to wait.
  20. Is there no provision for voting for the referee ? !
  21. It would be interesting to see whether any of those who thought it was a good idea to give Craig Brewster even more time are still of that opinion.
  22. So far so good.......
  23. The Old ICT spirit is back ! I was quietly confident we could sneak a point but the win is a real bonus. Nobody would have contemplated winning at Ibrox 6 short weeks ago under Brewster.
  24. Not to mention the same Poster's annual ICT based pantomime !
  25. Aberdeen's last minute equaliser in Paisley keeps St Mirren nicely in sight as well if we can gather two or three victories before the split.
