  1. Another frustrating afternoon. It's getting close to the point where County will be out of sight as far as automatic promotion is concerned. I can honestly now see us finish the season with fewest, or even no, defeats and least goals conceded and still not make a play off place. Someone needs to impress upon those managing and coaching the team that the object of the exercise is to win games not merely to avoid losing them. The fact that we are on such a long unbeaten run is looking increasingly hollow and irrelevant.
  2. We are struggling financially in the Championship and, should we not gain promotion this season, will do so even more in the future once the parachute payments end to the point where full time football may be difficult to sustain. We have no divine right to be in the Premiership and promotion will bring it's own challenges but, until we overreached ourselves in the last couple of seasons in the top tier, more or less broke even every season. If we are to prosper as a club and maintain full time status Premiership football is essential in the next year or two.

Every little helps from a financial perspective at the moment.

Of course it matters. He is still developing both physically and in terms of experience. A great future prospect but it would be wrong to expect too much too soon.
  5. A single 25 goal a season striker, far less 2, is a forlorn hope. What we do need is for the forwards we have to be more mobile and more clinical. White does not seem to have that in his armoury. Time to give the others a run.
  6. As DD says, a club used to winning. No room for complacency.
  7. Dundee United benefited from a new manager bounce when winning away at Patrick, a side better resourced than us. We played reasonably well today but, as has become the norm, struggled for creativity in the final third. Donaldson will be a loss against Alloa next week as he has probably been our most consistent performer this season. Unlike some of our most recent draws, a point gained rather than two points lost.
  8. I can see a certain attraction but, from a personal point of view, it would make it difficult to attend most home games and I suspect that many others will be in the same boat. Accordingly, it's a no from me.
  9. Word is that Jim McIntyre will be confirmed by the weekend.
  10. Surely the most bizarre suggestion of the year.
  11. Well said Carl. It's all well and good being unbeaten but a succession of draws is never going to get us into the promotion mix come the end of the season. We need to focus less on not losing and much more on winning.

Don't see him replacing the wonderfully consistent Mark Ridgers. Hopefully, he will find a new club in January which will be good for him and good for us. I doubt that any reasonable fan is blaming him for insisting on being paid the generous salary that we were only too happy to offer him at the time.
  13. Whatever we have been doing at development level we have been doing it wrong for a very long time. For those of us privileged to see naturally talented and highly entertaining Scotland teams of the 60s 70s and 80s watching us deservedly lose tamely to Israel is just heart breaking.
  14. Maybe she was concerned there would be some cutting remarks.
  15. A run in the cup would be a nice bonus. Automatic promotion would be great but, at the very least, a shot at promotion through the play offs is essential this season.
  16. Very good news, as I've said, that Robbo has committed for a further three years. However, I honestly don't see where any significant investment will come from. It looks like we are going to have to continue to live within our current limited means. The good news is that JR seems to have the ability to and, perhaps more importantly, is willing to do that.
  17. nail/hammer interface. Credit where it's due though. The continuity in securing the manager for another three years had to be good though. The fact that it was decided not to inform the fans for weeks is, however, sadly typical of what's going on at the moment and wholly unnecessary.
  18. I very much doubt you would have that view if we had won.
  19. Because we do not have a natural finisher. All the more reason for Daniel McKay to get an extended spell in the starting XI. If you're good enough you're old enough.
  20. The dedicated email address is very well qualified to address these sort of issues.
  21. Quite right after all Highland Derbies have ended in a bloodbath. The joy of Highland League football is the mingling of fans and lack of stewarding. Had been swithering about staying over last night and going to this. Rather pleased that I opted for an afternoon at home by the fire instead.
  22. Perhaps we should concentrate on our continuing inability to score and win matches rather than the misfortune of a player who served us extremely well for a number of seasons before being helped out the door as a cost cutting measure.
  23. They each need to be given the opportunity of starting the next half dozen games at least.
  24. He may have taken the wrong player off but he certainly, on that occasion put the right player on. Calder was the best player on the pitch for the last third of the game.
