Inverness CT -V- Dunfermline
John Hughes oversaw the start of our demise and complained very publicly about his player budget which was the highest in our history and about three times what we have available now. He could not save Raith Rovers from relegation from the Championship and, in the process caused huge dressing room unrest and division. He is certainly not the man to lead us to promotion now. We are two games in to the league season. We are unbeaten and yet to concede a league goal. Why not just get behind the manager, coaches and players and support the team.

Our youngsters
The manner in which Duncan Shearer was dismissed was appalling and a PR disaster but may well have been the right decision. Our youth system has only produced half a dozen players who have become first team regulars in all the years we have existed and only one to be sold for a significant sum. I think we have to give the new development team at the club at least another two seasons to see if they can do any better before passing judgement.

To be fair, there are a lot of much older fans who went when we were in the Premiership who are nowhere to be seen now.

Who would you like to see at ICT next season?
Billy McKay had three very good seasons from which we were fortunate to benefit. He was distinctly mediocre before that and worse than mediocre since. We need to look forward not backwards.

I agree too that, in the circumstances, John Robertson picked the wrong team for the match and that any criticism of the young players involved should have been done constructively and in private. In public, the manager should have had shoulders broad enough to accept the bulk of the blame himself. However, JR has probably dine more right than wrong in his second spell and I can't think of anybody who is likely to do much better with what we have to work with. Although he has something of a record of walking in such circumstances, I hope and believe that he will stay and try to complete the task of getting us up as difficult as that might be.

Ex-ICT players' news
I see that Don Cowie has signed for County. I imagine he will be on quite a salary by Championship standards.

Bans
That length of ban would seem to me to be entirely reasonable and proportionate. Those calling for lifetime bans should bear in mind that there is a despicable character who has been judicially determined to be a rapist able to earn a living as a professional footballer in Scotland. Those responsible for Saturday's appalling behaviour did a very bad thing but hardly in the same league of evil.

The point being that the majority of people when given a second chance don't abuse the privilege.

How will you know if you don't give them the chance ?

Getting off topic but more often than not people take full advantage of a second chance but, as with everything in life, there are exceptions. How, back onto discussing the actions of the club rather than the policy of CTO.
-

Yes. People very seldom get banned from this site and those who apologise for their actions and give an undertaking not to repeat them will almost always be given a second chance.

Disgusting indeed and bans are appropriate but for life is too harsh. We all mature and learn and we need to encourage as many young and enthusiastic fans as possible. If these people can demonstrate that they are truly remorseful then they should get back. If not, as I've opined before, they should be banned for the rest of this season but with the proviso that if they offend again in a similar manner once they get back that ban will be extended to five years.

Personally, I believe that if those banned are prepared to apologise either in writing or, better still, in person to Liam Polworth then the bans should be lifted immediately. The conduct was terrible but we all make mistakes and deserve a second chance. If, on the other hand, they are not prepared to acknowledge that they did wrong and say sorry, then I would have no difficulty with those involved being banned for the rest of the season.

I have to disagree. This sort of conduct has been going on for far too long and came to a disgraceful and completely unacceptable head yesterday. Fans are entitled to show frustration and disappointment but what happened in a small section of the North Stand was wholly out of order. Pleased that the club are conducting an enquiry and I hope that the culprits are identified but I don't accept that that should stifle debate on the subject. This is an opportunity to lance this boil once and for all otherwise, once Polworth is gone, those responsible for hounding him out will just pick on another victim and scapegoat as they've always done in the past.

He's One Of Our Own
Some of our 'support' stooped to a new low yesterday directing abuse at a member of a player's family. One of the best players to have come through our youth system and an Inverness lad will likely be away in January or the end of the season and who can blame him.

Surely, that was never in doubt.

We all did stupid and I'll considered things as teenagers. It's part of learning, growing and maturing but directing abuse against the entirely innocent members of a player's family just because he might not be having the best of games is utterly appalling conduct whatever your age. It's not the ICT way and needs to stop now. Some acknowledgment that it was wrong and an apology to go with it would demonstrate an element of maturity that was missing from those concerned yesterday afternoon.

Entirely agree. It was a poor performance and a hugely frustrating afternoon but getting on the players back is not going to help. We need all the positive vocal support we can muster but it seems to me that too many of our fans only raise their voices to criticise rather than chant or shout support.

It was a bad day at the office and we effectively threw away two points not just through the penalty miss but through a complete lack of creativity or any sense from the manager that he knew how to change it. However, we are two games into the season, have four points on the board and no goals conceded so it's hardly a disaster. As for You, offering violence to fellow fans or indeed anyone else is wholly unacceptable so you will find that that was your last post in this thread.

Match day tickets
Hopefully, that will remain the case for a few seasons to come. Still not everyone has easy access to the internet.

I know that he had a testimonial many years ago but can the club please look into organising a benefit match for his family ? I am sure that the ground would be well filled whatever the opposition.
