  1. Ah! Well, son. How can I put this gently to you. It's like this. Your mother was having a spring clean at the weekend and things like old balls, shirts, programs, videos etc found their way into the bin. I said they were precious to you but you know what she's like. "If they're so bloody precious to him he should have taken them with him to bloody Wakefield." she said. Well, I couldn't argue with that. Only joking! Don't worry. Until you can keep them in a place of your own they will be safe. I will guard them with my life!
  2. It seems like a case of shifting the blame to me. Of course they will be desparately disappointed not to have won promotion but they are not a bad team and these are not bad players. They won the Alba cup and came 2nd in the league only because of an exceptional run from an exceptional side. If Dundee were to keep the current squad they would still be a good bet for promotion next year if only they could get the right manager to get the best out of them. This will be great news at Victoria Park.
  3. The dolphin is an endagered species - I don't know that I like the sound of that. On the other hand I like the idea of the eagle soaring majestically above everything else and looking down disdainfully on the staggies way below.
  4. Links from the Sunday Times today. The kind of things we don't want to see from our players but well worth a look. A shocking tackle (and referee) http://snipurl.com/vwd0g A shocking miss http://snirpul.com/vwcwc and shocking simulation http://snirpul.com/vwd22
  5. As late as that! Things are looking up.
  6. No. What I have said is largely positive about a great day. Just noting that there were party poopers about. Not quite clear how you think it's wrong for me to include a little objective criticism in my posts but it's OK for you to criticise me. It's Sunday now so hope you don't mind me saying this :D
  7. It's party time so let's start with the bad and end on a positive note. 1 Bad. The club was happy to allow fans onto the pitch but not to climb all over the goals. I know there was lots of excitement but I am sure everyone could understand that was a moronic thing to do. Had the goals broken folk could have been injured and there could have been serious repurcussions. It could have ruined the fun for everyone else. 2 Bad. The number of "fans" who just can't help themselves from having a go at the players and criticising them. I know it wasn't the greatest of overall performances and one or two players were very poor today but hey! we've just won the league by 12 points having been 15 points behind at one point. What's to criticise? Despite it being the "Party at the Park" one moron close to me shouted "for F***s sake (players name) you're f***ing useless". It makes me worry just how quickly a large proportion of the crowd will start barracking the team next year when we aren't winning all the time. Please, if you must criticise players, go and watch County and criticise theirs. 1 Good. The real fans. Lots of singing and lots of different songs. It really lifts the players so keep it going in the hard times next season guys! 2 Good. Great to hear the high pitched cries of "Caley, Caley" coming from the South stand from the mouths of the youngsters who had been given tickets for the game. They are the future of the club so hopefully they enjoyed themselves and this will encourage them to be regular attenders in the years to come.
  8. or as in Eddi Reader of Fairground Attraction fame.
  9. Someone, Jonny Hayes, I think, threw a pair of boots tied together by the laces into the air. I saw them rather late as they descended from up above and had someone taller and more agile not caught them, I might well have been garrotted.
  10. I know we shouldn't read too much into the game when there is the party frame of mind but we were distinctly 2nd best until our player of the year slotted home the goal. But as has been the case recently, lady luck was with us. Dundee nearly went ahead when Esson made a superb save to deflect a well struck free kick onto the post. Then a Dundee player decided to fall on his *rse well before the tackle came in when he was well placed to score - should have been booked. A further attack saw a pretty cynical challenge from Bulvitis not penalised and then the ball moved up the other end of the park for our goal. Bulvitis was very poor today and will struggle at a higher level. The rest of the back 4 were excellent. Hayes was terrific and put the fear of God in the opposition. Often there were 3 or even four opponents on him which created a fair bit of space for the rest of our midfield which they failed to take advantage of. They dwelt far too long on the ball, first touch was poor and so was the distribution. Even Rooney, apart from a well taken goal seemed to lack control. We looked a much poorer side without Richie Foran. Nice to see Nick Ross get a game - he did OK. Eric missed two golden opportunites and then Ross missed another but more than a single goal win would have flattered us. But the main thing is - we won! again! We seem to have learnt the knack of winning when not playing well and if we can do that in the SPL I will be more than happy.
  11. The speculation was more entertaining than the reality
  12. Our paths crossed from time to time at work. A real gent.
  13. Yes, we could do with some cover for Rooney.
  14. Great effort. But if they fall behind, they can always hitch a lift on the Dundee supporters bus - should be plenty of room. B)
  15. If the club is determined to stop fans coming onto the pitch during the game then the answer is to stop all this winning nonsense. Let's get back to the early season dross and there should be no worries about any pitch invasion repercussions. However, just in case the club do not take this sensible precaution and our team do to Dundee what they did to Ayr last week, I have taken the precaution of procuring a seat right at the back in the middle of a row so that it will make it extremely difficult for this middle aged git to leap over the wall and skip onto the pitch to the great embarrassment of the club and my family alike. I urge everybody else to take the club's statement seriously and take whatever precautions they deem necessary to restrain themselves at times of such overwhelming excitement. Those sitting nearer the front might want to tie their shoe laces together, for example.
  16. Many thanks Doofers Mum still ahead of me with one set of matches left. Hmm.
  17. Scotty, are you updating the league prior to the last match of the season and allowing predictions for the final week? It would be good to know how many more places I have dropped following recent dismal predictions. Thanks.
  18. If you do travel by Ryanair it will be important to read the safety card. Most folk don't bother and therefore may have missed some important changes.
  19. And losing 1 - 0 to a Marrowman penalty
  20. He's English. He's running a Scottish Team tho Should have added the laughy smilies :) so you'ld know it wasn't a serious reply!
  21. 33 could be the number of appearences Andy Marrowman made in the 2008-9 season for the massive haul of 2 goals.
  22. I don't often buy a lottery ticket but yesterday morning I decided I would. And rather than do the normal (un)lucky dip I thought that I would use ICT as my inspiration and chose the following numbers. 7 - being the number of games in the winning run (before the Ayr game) 9 - being the mumber of points we were leading the league by 19 - being both the number of matches we had gone undefeated and the number of matches won 22 - being the number league goals Rooney had scored 32 - being our goal difference 34 - being the number of games played With the lads producing a stunning 7 - 0 victory things were going well - and then the draw was made with the following numbers 1 4 12 23 33 40 Not a single feckin number right Oh well. Back to reality.
  23. And much less expensive..... Cheaper and less expensive? Yes, I've heard them bleating about how much they get paid.
