  1. Seaside league is now the Astroturf league.
  2. Cammy has been very patient over the years. As far as I can recall he always looked decent and has never let us down when called upon. Pains me somewhat to suggest it but who knows, had he been playing in the games v Hamilton, we might not have been relegated? Such an unfortunate time for our number 1 to have a bit of a ‘mare (which he has apologised for on X) - but he still made fewer mistakes in the tie than most of our other players, and was one of our best players over the course of the season.
  3. It’s still likely to be rather excessive relative to the amount we would be willing and able to pay now, ie since the cost cutting started mid-season, and exacerbated significantly by the relegation. Previous contract commitments risk being millstones around our neck. As for Billy, we had no credible alternatives up front.
  4. Absolutely, the role is one that we just cannot afford. The irony is that if Administration is at all on the cards, he would be the club’s expert on that given his background and no doubt having closely followed every detail of what happened at Rangers!
  5. Not necessarily due to Ferguson’s view on Devine, the problem here is perhaps that Devine’s contract would have been done when we were splashing the cash, but over the last few months we have had to cut costs severely and cannot really afford to retain him on those terms. Even worse now that we are League 1.
  6. At this moment time we’d love to be Falkirk! But yes, I know what you mean.
  7. Bollan has 12 years experience of being a manager in his own right the Scottish leagues. He ought to be a huge asset to Ferguson and to the team, and ought to be capable of managing a League 1 side like us, but I just cannot imagine that anyone will be considering him seriously for the job as he must be seen as partly culpable for the dismal style of play and performances this season.
  8. Well, we have some in common with Man City! I was looking into this question and found that they were relegated with positive goal difference in 1937/38, the season after they had won the league. In terms of the modern era, we might have a pretty unique claim. Found a Guardian article from a few years back that investigated if it had happened in the modern era and, apart from when there were points deductions, the only example they found was in the Greek 3rd division in the late 1990s, but it looks like there was some league restructuring happening because 5 teams in a 12 team league got relegated. ICT - still making history.
  9. It seems to be generally accepted that fans can come on to pitches at the end of a season to celebrate an achievement, without repercussions. We’ve done it home and away (Ayr) and at least one team had previously celebrated on our pitch (Dundee Utd). I don’t recall any trouble at those, and I don’t begrudge giving Hamilton fans the opportunity to celebrate their promotion. You can blame the club or stewards, but surely it also comes down to individuals taking responsibility for their own conduct.
  10. That's a shame, I was thinking that League 1 football would offer the opportunity to prolong his career with us by another season at least.
  11. Indeed. What assets do we have to sell, and who would buy them? The battery firm is either worth nothing or worth up to £3m depending on the appeal outcome, but the club now seems to own only 1% of that company after 3 directors subscribed for new shares in it.
  12. Worth noting that going into administration won’t get us out of the obligation to give DF his assumed 6 figure payoff, because of the football creditors rule - basically a club that goes into administration has to settle debts owed to players, managers, other clubs and footballing authorities first, and if it doesn’t have the funds to do so it gets wound up ie ceases to exist.
  13. Oh geez, just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse.
  14. I also wonder if there are relegation clauses in our player contracts. There certainly ought to be.
  15. It’s very unfortunate that in these pivotal matches, our normally reliable keeper could have done a lot better when conceding 3 of the goals. Otherwise, who knows how things might have transpired. Not saying it’s his fault, the poor season overall is certainly not down to him.
  16. We have a player who has now been relegated 5 times.
  17. We must also be the first team ever to get relegated with a positive goal difference?
  18. I think we still hold the record for the highest points tally ever to get relegated from the Premier (37). I think we now also have the highest tally ever to get relegated from the Championship with 42.
  19. Just noticed I said League 2 not League 1, things aren’t quite that bad yet, although I was think8ng earlier how quickly Brechin slid from Championship down to League 1 to League 2 to Highland League, where they still are.
  20. Even before considering any merits or otherwise of either, it would be ludicrous to have people on their salaries whilst in League 2 so both have to go, I just hope we can afford the payoffs without it putting us into administration..
  21. 2 matches v Hamilton and over the piece we lost pretty resoundingly, fair and square. I shouldn’t be surprised but I’m still stunned.
  22. 8 m8ns added time but even if it was 88 I don’t think we’d score. The side should have been fighting for their lives in this 45 but we’ve offered nothing and that is a disgrace.
  23. Game fizzling out and we seem less likely to score goals than we did in the first half.
  24. I’d sub Longstaff at half time, he’s having an off day even by his standards.
  25. It’s been frantic, end to end stuff and we’ve already created more than we normally do in a full match. The irony is that if we played our usually negative anti-football, we’d still be in the tie.
