We Need A New Manager For Next Season
A manager has to be judged on the course of a season, not just a run of bad form......particularly if the bad form has its roots in factors outwith the manager's control. There are quite a few causes for concern, and I really don't know if Brewster is good enough, but just remember this - we lost our first 6 games of the season, and the majority view here at the time was that we'd settle for Brew getting us up to 11th place and giving us another chance in the SPL next season.

ICT -V- Falkirk : matchday thread
Paying customers are entitled to express their views. But surely you can see why the players and management feel that such comments don't really help. Give support when the match is in progress, give them pelters afterwards!

You're not missing anything!

caledonian and thistle today
Caledonian - Would have got into the SFL on their own, if not in 1994 then when Peterhead and Elgin got in. Now a 2nd division club. Still playing at Telford St, with Billy Urquhart up front. Thistle - mid to lower table Highland League, as before.

Gary McSwegan
Bringing in 2 retired players.........good to see Clyde building for the future!

Relegation a reality?
If as reported Gretna had some of their kit nicked, it would almost certainly have been from somebody who is owed money by them, probably an employee. "I'm not going to get paid what I'm owed so I'll take whatever I can instead" is what happens in every company insolvency, and I've seen cases where the police know who did it but take no action because they consider it to be fair.

Relegation a reality?
The club could be saved if Charles could get his BBC Scotland colleagues to donate ?1 for every time they have used the word "fairytale" in a Gretna/Mileson erselicking context during the last 5 years.

Another week Still no Contracts
There's not much competition in that area!

Niculae called up to Romania squad
Good for him. And if he gets a game he could earn us a transfer fee this summer........which would be the best outcome for all concerned. And the one that was planned all along, I suspect. I'm sure IHE will be along soon to clarify :015:

Duncan
Just one promotion in his 7 seasons with us! But I know what you mean.

GRETNA RESIGN FROM SFL
In the last 10 years, 3 clubs made a rapid ascent up the leagues to the SPL. 2 of them spent ridiculous amounts on player wages before going into administration. One of them makes a profit every season these days and is considered by many in the game to be a model well run club, living within its means. And yet we still seem to criticise every decision!

GRETNA RESIGN FROM SFL
They'll just have to go back to supporting Rangers.
-
Relegation a reality?
It's a bit of an SPL tradition that when the football season ends, we are kept interested and entertained by legal disputes and appeals through the summer!

Dean McDonald to Toronto
No, he has the word "Arsenal" on his CV, and has been living off that for years.
-
Duncan
Duncan certainly has abilities that make him an asset to the team.......but that ain't them!

GRETNA RESIGN FROM SFL
Surely they could sell the copyright to "Living the Dream" :016:

Michael Owen
You know how you always see Newcastle fans bare chested in the stands no matter how cold it is? Its not because they're hard, its because they're embarrassed to be seen in Newcastle shirts!

GRETNA RESIGN FROM SFL
Reported on BBC that Gretna are holding what sound like crisis talks tomorrow, to see if and how they can can make it through to the end of the season without Mileson ploughing more money in to cover the spiralling losees. It appears that Mileson Jnr is in charge of the family purse strings at the moment and he has not been particularly willing to pour his inheritance down the drain.

All Time low?
I agree, Dundee Utd should be sent back to the First Division.

On a positive note
He's no Paul Ritchie! If he doesn't break through and consistently demonstrate abilities that we have only seen at first team level in a couple of the 50 or so opportunities he's had, then it would be in his and the club's interest for him to be released from his contract this summer. He could then go out and find his level, wherever that might be. And ICT could then give a promising youngster like Wood the chance to step up.
-
On a positive note
I think it is fair to say that if Rory doesn't break through between now and the end of the season, when there is nothing to play for, and at a time when other players are underperforming, then he never will.

Baz Leaving ICT
Barry said in the local paper here that his days at ICT might be numbered, but he still has another season in him as a player before hopefully moving in to coaching.

GRETNA RESIGN FROM SFL
What surprises me from that article is the statement that Rowan Alexander's compensation claim is for ?750,000, which being 5 years notice suggests they were paying him ?150,000 a year.

What went wrong..?
Alex, I agree that we had a transfer window that we will regret for the rest of the season. But what puzzles me is that at that time we were the form team in the league and on a great run of results that took us from relegation to top 6, achieved : - with Brewster as manager - with Niculae - with McGuire - without Dods - with Duncan - without Wilson playing regularly - without Hart playing at all Yes we lost Rankin, but we have lost far better players than him in the past and just kept getting better. The only thing that has really changed is the rise to prominence of discontent in the dressing room from some key players. With contracts and earnings being at the heart of the problem, what could the manager do about that at 2pm on Saturday, or again this coming Saturday?
-
What went wrong..?
I believe that Brewster did his best on Saturday. Can the same be said for all of the players? Yes the manager has to take responsibility for the poor performance, but the reality is that there's only so much he can do.
