  1. What if the wages saved by releasing Barry are being used to secure contract extensions for Blackie and Cowie? Would fans still be complaining? (Where's that "rhetorical question" smiley?)
  2. They should have let them protest on the runway, but let flights operate as normal.
  3. He is still our most creative player and a real asset to the team. Wrong decision IMO, unless they can use his wage to bring in someone spectacular.
  4. First goal in 13 months? Got to be pleased for him. If he goes on a run he might catch up with Woods, Barrowman and Rooney.
  5. Andy Murray will win many things in his career, but anything with the word "personality" in the title is surely beyond him.
  6. I thought they'd wait until later in the season before deciding whether to extend. I suppose there is some logic in doing it before the transfer window - it determines whether Brew takes a short term view and targets players who might save his job over the following 4 months at any cost, or whether he builds for next season and the longer term.
  7. You are right. But on reading the article again, the ?250k figure is just the journalists estimate, not backed up by any quotes, and I can't help thinking he has just assumed the same amount per annum. I would be fairly certain that we are getting less than before, and would suggest that Flybe probably wanted to renegotiate the amount due for the rest of this season as part of the deal to extend. Times are hard for all airlines.
  8. I was pleasantly surprised that this got extended. However, when you look at the figures mentioned in the article it appears that we are getting half the amount we used to get (?250k over the next 2 years, compared to ?500k for the previous 2 years, if the article is accurate)
  9. Correct. Or guys of the same proven quality, at least. We will just have to continue the recent strategy of taking chances on players unproven at this level, and hope that we unearth more Imries than Djebi-Zadis.
  10. Agreed. What I was saying was that there are some companies out there who do give directors expense allowances with no accountability, and in those cases it is reported in the accounts in just the same way as salary.
  11. For the avoidance of any further doubt, the type of expenses you refer to here are NOT included in the directors emoluments reported in the accounts. Legitimate business expenses (eg travel, meals, hotel bills incurred in the course of club business) are excluded. The text quoted above above refers to "expense allowances" of the type whereby a director is given a load of money to do whatever he wants with, with no accountability or receipts required, and is therefore indistinguishable from salary. One thing I'm not so sure about: is it just an assumption by CaleyD that the director receiving emoluments is actually and solely Bennett?

Libor Sionko played in qualifiers whilst a Rangers player, and as he was at Euro 2008 that entitles them to something.
  13. It really doesn't matter when the talks take place, it's the amount of money being offered that matters. A club with 3,000 regular fans isn't really in a position to offer as much as anyone else in the SPL (except perhaps Hamilton) unless we live beyond our means (Livi, Gretna etc)
  14. BBC reporting that Paul Hegarty is the latest manager to walk through the Almondvale revolving door. And that ICT target McPake has signed a PCA with Coventry.
  15. Sounds to me like your scales are faulty!
  16. To be fair, I think D was probably working on the assumption that Mike Smith would get confused with the VAT and make a hash of it.....
  17. Nope, the VAT on a ?20 ticket (which is actually ?17.02 ticket + VAT) is currently ?2.98, it will fall to ?2.55 giving a saving of 43p.
  18. I don't see the need to pass on the VAT saving. Surely if you are happy to pay ?20 to get in, you'll be even happier now that more of your ?20 goes to the club and less to the VAT man. And then in a year's time it all goes back up again, probably even higher than it was before. Crowds certainly won't be boosted by a 43p price cut. (What's wrong with his maths btw?) Will the caterers be taking 3p off a pie?
  19. The mismanagement of Livi over the last 5 or so years is in a different league (literally!) to any criticisms that can be directed at our club.
  20. The rapid demise of Leeds is remarkable. Only 7 years ago they were a major force and in the Champions League semi-final. Their downfall arose from spending ridiculous money on poor players. A very fat Thomas Brolin is one that still brings a smile. But with the size of the city and fan base, I'm sure that one day they will be back in the top half of the Premiership.

He's been celebrating the launch of the Same Difference album.
  22. Is it true that Air Canada have been asked to donate a one way ticket?
  23. Not sure if it's been mentioned here already, but Brewster has passed his UEFA Pro coaching certificate. This officially confirms his status as one of Europe's top managers.
