Conceding 4 is what I expect pretty much every week with McGuire, but I never thought we'd score 3.

I wouldn't shed any tears if Brewster resigned, but I would have concerns as to whether we would get anybody who would do any better under the circumstances : the problems CaleyD mentioned above, factors outwith a managers control, that any new manager would be subject to, the Niculae factor, and undercurrents of player unrest due to feeling financially undervalued. Sacking the manager would give a short term boost but wouldn't solve our clubs underlying problems. And of course it would be very expensive use of our limited funds. ?100k to pay him off? A similar transfer fee to get a new manager? What a waste if it doesn't lead to any real long term improvement. This summer we should lose Niculae and finally replace Dods. If there is no substantial improvement by September, sack him then. But for the time being Brewster just gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

Come on guys, there's room for all views and posters here, including people who have particular areas of interest within the world of ICT. And Stevico is certainly not the only poster with a Marius obsession! But an ICT player scoring an international goal in a game between 2 highly ranked countries is certainly worthy of discussion. :022:

True. But David Sutherland, controlling the largest shareholding, still has his hand on the club's tiller even if he is less involved day to day. He chose Savage. He chose to reappoint Brewster, apparently. He has a say in every major decision, so you'd have to add him to your list.

It's hard to imagine a manager taking that sort of action that unless the player's opinion was insulting or disrespectful.

Scotty's interpretation is probably not far from the truth. The only thing I'd argue with is that you can't really place too much reliance on the positive comments a manager makes when a player is being offered a new contract. He wants to make him feel valued at that point, and is unlikely to say "Wyness is OK to have as a back-up striker, because there aren't many strikers with SPL experience who are as unambitious as Dennis and happy to be on the bench most of the time!"

A rare bit of positive news. We know how much the call-up meant to him, and a goal is a real bonus. And will help us get a transfer fee for him this summer. (PS Hasting scored a vital goal for Canada in the Gold Cup, in 2000 I think)

Like most players, Wyness appointed and authorised an agent to act and negotiate on his behalf. The club can justifiably believe that the agent was acting on his client's instructions/consent.

Watt has played for 4 clubs, amassing a grand total of 8 competitive games. You'd have to imagine that if we was at all looking the part in training and the reserves, he'd get the nod ahead of the rather ropey McGuire. Ironically Watt seems to be here just as injury cover.

A staggering 46! I would imagine that includes cases where a club has gone into administration more than once, but still! Equates to roughly half the clubs. Most of those clubs have much bigger crowds and income than clubs like ourselves, but too many seemed get carried away in pursuit of the riches of the Premiership.

Heard on Five Live this evening a feature on Rotherham, who have gone into administration. They mentioned the number of cases of administration in the Football League since the Premiership started in 1992. I'll give you a few seconds to ponder how many you reckon there have been.

Perhaps at the time that Scotsport interview with Brewster was conducted, ICT were maintaining a diplomatic silence on the conduct of Wyness/his agent. Bennet then decided to publicise ICT's version of events? Who knows. Lets wait and see which bits (if any) of the story Wyness and his agent refute.

The club usually keep details of contract negotiations quiet, and I think most of us would agree that that's how it should be. It was Wyness who went on the attack in the press. When that happens, coupled with the upsurge of hostile sentiment from fans, the club have every right to defend their actions. I suspect though, that they have only done so because it has now become clear that there is no chance at all that Wyness will be staying.

Bennet and Brewster will be extremely busy this week going through all the written apologies from posters here who didn't even contemplate that there could be two sides to the story. :tic01:

Yep, but what I'm saying is that it still took a helluva long time for Wyness (or his agent) to agree the terms if all along he wanted to stay. If he'd signed a month or two ago he wouldn't have this problem. It 's like when you sell your house, if you hold out for more money your potential buyer might decide they want a different house instead and you're back to square one.

Glen Mhor, sooner or later past legends have to get replaced by future ones! We have 4 months to find players equal to or better than the ones we are losing, although we will have to do considerably better than we have done in the last couple of transfer windows if we are to reverse the decline in fortunes.

I would be surprised if Wyness and his agent could claim to be totally innocent victims in this situation. When did the club commence contract talks with them, 2 or 3 months ago? Perhaps part of the problem is that the club have often allowed players as much time as they want to consider the contract terms offered, with agents often dragging it out as long as possible whilst they seek alternative offers. Sooner or later the club was going to lose patience and catch someone by surprise, and it was always going to happen to a player who was seen as nice to have rather than an essential part of the team.

Brewster was brought when were bottom of the league to keep us up this season, and build for next, when considerable improvement will be expected. Phase 1 accomplished comfortably, and for that reason I can't see him being sacked. Phase 2 I am not at all sure about. His transfer dealings in the summer will have to be significantly better than the ones so far for him to keep his job beyond September.

Can't be that bad if Rossco, Duncan and Wyness were all happy to agree contract extensions this month, can it?
