HA HA - Look at Elgin City now!
I see David Robertson, after making a mess of Elgin, has been sacked after making a mess of Montrose. Can't imagine many chairman queueing up to give him a job now. Stewartie for Montrose?

cheerio mark
I feel far happier about him leaving us for Celtic than I would if he was going to the likes of Falkirk or Dundee Utd. Good luck to him, and thanks for all the saves.

New keeper - who do we go for?
With Broonie going, we will be signing another keeper, the only question is will it be back-up to Fraser or a new first choice? At the very least, it surely needs to be someone who can provide competition for a starting place at SPL level. So who do we go for? Taking into account the fact that we won't want to pay much of a transfer fee, I wonder if the likes of Bryn Halliwell (currently warming the bench at St Johnstone) might enter Charlie's thoughts? Or can we do better than that?

Mark Brown signing for Celtic
in the next 24 hours, according to Radio Scotland. David Marshall is going on loan to Norwich and Broonie is being brought in as cover. Hope it's a decent fee we are getting. :009:

Our most prolific goalscorer on the bench???????
A bit of advice for you ITSAGOALCRAIGDARGO - never adopt a username idolising one of our players! Players leave, and when Dargo does you'll be ashamed to show your face. There used to be a right t1t on here called Robsonisgod, but he disappeared shortly after the ginger whinger and has never been seen or heard since. :004:

Marcus Paatelainen...
Likewise, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait a good few weeks to see him on the pitch. It's not as if we are playing badly and prepared to try anything that might improve out fortunes.

Caff - "Not up to it"
Based on what I have seen of Caff in the SPL, it pains me to say that I think we would concede more goals with him than we do with Dods. Perhaps Caff just doesn't have the presence or strength needed in a league where the players tend to be bigger than in Div 1? However, he has not had an extended run in the team at this level and has been played out of position a few times, so if given the chance he may well step up to the mark. I really hope so, he has been a great servant, and has more pace and general footballing ability than our other central defenders. I just don't know if those are the skills that are needed to do the job these days........

Next Scotland boss
I agree - but he would only be using the Scotland job as a short term stepping stone back into club management.

Hibs game - change of date?
I see Ian Stewart is playing for Locos since being punted by Peterhead.

Aberdeen V ICT (matchday thread)
You always feel crap after conceding an injury time equaliser...........BUT a point away to the 3rd place team isn't at all bad.

Squad Problems (U21 Players in matchday squad)
At the very worst, Charlie could name U21 players as subs even if they are at home in their beds.

Is anyone else...
He agreed to the terms and conditions of his contract, and was more than happy to sign it. And then even happier to rip it up when a better offer came along.

Dons rejects
Dennis Wyness Russell Duncan Stuart McCaffrey Rory McAllister and now Marcus Paatelainen. Can we assemble a whole team of players that Aberdeen offloaded?! We've benefited hugely from most of the players who moved along the A96. Another success story will be very much appreciated, as will a victory over their former employers.

Marcus Paatelainen...
It's about time we had someone with "proper" footballers hair.
-
Liam Keogh
He was excellent in our promotion season, and might even have got one of the player of the season awards. But since then we've seen little to suggest he is good enough for the first team. (Just struck me - exactly the same could be said about Caff!)

Aberdeen on Saturday
Brewster always looked slow but tonight he was slooooooooooooooow. But he still has the vision and touch to be a huge threat.

Next Scotland boss
Two questions : 1) Who should it be? 2) Who will it be? The BBC suggests a fanciful list of contenders including David Moyes, Billy Davies, Alex McLeish, as well as the usual suspects of Tommy Burns, Joe Jordan, Kenny Dalglish and Graeme Souness. International management these days seems to appeal to experienced managers looking for semi-retirement (what do they do for the other 357 days a year?) and I cannot imagine any rising star managing at a high level being remotely interested. You will also get decent mid-level managers looking for a pay rise. So managers likely to be keen would surely be Jimmy Calderwood and Jim Jefferies (and probably Ian McCall :015: ) Not sure if Levein would want it yet, and I think Sir Alex has unfinished business. I'll be very disappointed if they play the "continuity" card and go for Tommy Burns (who led us to a 4-1 defeat to Sweden in his only game in charge).

Smith Confirmed, SFA to sue.
The SFA versus The Crown, with Rangers fielding Donald Findlay in defence!
-
St Mirren use fake money to get into TCS!
Someone tell Graeme Bennett to be wary if St Mirren bid for Dargo and insist on paying in used notes!
-
SFA
The SFA have to be SEEN to stand up to Rangers. But behind closed doors everyone involved understands exactly what will happen next.

Out with the old...
I wanted to join in with "Went to mow a meadow" but found it all too complicated. Could someone write down the words for me?

STIRLING V ICT - matchday thread
Mifthebino, did your team play poorly today? I expected a lot more from a team that has been having a great season and would surely fancy their chances, but couldn't work out if it was just because we were atttacking so well.

STIRLING V ICT - matchday thread
Agreed, I'd have happily paid £30 for the entertainment we got :003:

STIRLING V ICT - matchday thread
Excellent attacking performance, and a great travelling support. Great afternoon's entertainment. Dargo looked sharp, and scored an absolute beauty that even the Albinos were applauding. For the avoidance of doubt I'm talking about his second. The first one ain't gonna win any awards! But for me Wyness was clear man of the match. He was a constant threat, picking up the ball in midfield and running at them, shimmying, and linking up neatly with anyone in the vicinity. A joy to watch. :021: Sadly I have to mention that Rory still looked well out of his depth, even against a defeated and demoralised 2nd division side. He is destined for the Highland League, the sooner the better.
