  1. Can't believe anyone would suggest losing a game for tactical reasons. Don't forget, every place in the SPL is worth money (c£80K?).
  2. I suggested Jamie Cureton on here 2 years ago, when he left my local club, Reading. At that time I suspect, hardly anyone on here had heard of him. One reaction on the forum was that ICT should not be interested in English players but only home grown Scots. How parochial and short sighted was that? However, I agree that we would have no chance of Cureton now as he is probably on a few grand a week these days.
  3. You're right ,Mantis, it does look as though I'd had a skinful to suggest the team I did. But I was only 12! The team I quoted was the Caley all conquering team of c1951/52, when I first started watching them, so it is dear to my heart. Going back to the Celtic game, the Caley keeper, Jimmy Smith, was very well rated and moved to play for Stirling, when they were much stronger than they are now. A propos nothing at all, another memory I have from the early 50's is Caley playing 2 league games in one day (and winning them both) due to fixture congestion at the end of the season. That happened on at least 2 occasions.
  4. I can remember that game, although not too much about it. Certainly the score was 2 all, and Celtic did have a strong team out. I remember some typical Willie Fernie dribbles. Can't remember the whole Caley team but probably something like Bruce, Mcgillivray, Maronski, Bolt McKinnon McIntosh, Mcbeth Jamieson, Mitchell, Mckenzie and Fraser.
  5. Was pleased to see Sandy Lyle complete 4 rounds and pick up c20,000 Euro in prize money. I've always felt that despite his 2 majors and umpteen other tournament victories worldwide, that he missed out on the really big money particularly because of his complete loss of form for the last 15 years or so. So I've always felt slightly sorry for him. However, I've just finished reading his autobiography, to find his current abode in Scotland has 170 acres (worth £1m or £2m ?), he still has his house on the Wentworth estate in Surrey (worth £3m or £4m ? ), and he also owns a house in Florida. So perhaps he manages OK.
  6. Really hope its true that Hastings has signed his extension contract. In my book he has been our best defender consistently this season. Generally underrated by most fans I think.
  7. 8 league goals this season - I repeat, not exactly prolific!!!
  8. Maybe I'm out on a limb here, but if this rumour is true, will we miss him that much? He hasn't exactly been a prolific scorer this season. I know he has been injured but nevertheless his goals/game ratio must be way down on last year. I'd settle for a fully fit Wyness back in the team.
  9. Although I've read all the posts on this thread and Sophia's original thread, I've not felt the urge to reply until now. I've been amazed how this whole thing has escalated into a whole sale slanging match between posters (including moderators), resulting in at least one poster (and I suspect more) giving up on the forum for good. IHE makes a very good point on a recent post when he asks what Latapy might have thought about the comment. I too believe he would have thought it fairly inoffensive, much less offensive than what he gets most weeks. Not that this makes it right, but I do feel that several posters on here have blown the whole eposode out of proportion. Before anyone now accuses me of being racist, I would point out that I've been married for 40 years to a girl from India. Time for everyone to calm down maybe?
  10. I'd rather see ICT win the Scottish Cup than Scotland win the World Cup, and we've got more chance of doing it!
  11. And then there was the girl with two breasts in front, and another one on her back. She wasn't much to look at, but she was nice to dance with!!
