  1. Just for the record, I’ve never said I agree with the announcements being made, but the club is using local youngsters to do them which is community engagement. All I was highlighting was that, if we are going to do them, we should at least try to capitalise on them. I am a Highlander and proud of it, having been away for work for a while and coming back to the area it has changed immensely and our economy, whether we like it if not, depends greatly on tourism. Anyway, I’m going to shut up on this and respect the views of others.
  2. That’s harsh! Everyone is slagging the club off for not trying things. If they are going to do bilingual announcements, given the level of tourism in the area and the criticism of not having a shop in the City Centre, why not link the two things. It will only cost some commission and if it gets a few extra into the ground, visitors or locals, why not?
  3. They’ve been better of late. Having read the piece on the club website, it is youngsters doing the Gaelic translation, so we should encourage them. I would like to see the club exploit any financial advantage they can get from this given the number of visitors to our area.
  4. Hopefully our decision makers are tucked up in bed and no late outgoing activity takes place..... unless they are working on a late incoming signing to surprise and excite us.....
  5. Ayr drawing with Partick means we can get back to being 3 ahead if we can win tomorrow.
  6. Could we make money out of this? Promote it in the Tourist Office and sell tickets there and we may just appeal to foreign visitors looking to do something different and bring in some well needed cash and increase attendance. Possibly do an add on when matches are on to a Jacobite Tour with free travel on the shuttle bus from and to the Bus Station to make it easy. Just a thought!
  7. HT 1-0 FT 2-1 ICT Doran Alloa O’Hara Crowd 1914
  8. Yes, 2-2 the week after we beat them in the Caramel Wafer Cup. If we’d closed out the last few minutes, that is the day we would have gone top. Feels like an age ago!
  9. Just been looking at recent form: Alloa have taken 10 points out of 12 since Christmas including away wins at Dunfermline and Queen of the South. In that time, we have 3 points out of 9. With our poor record against teams at the bottom end of the league, this is set up to be a tough game, so hopefully none of the complacency we feel we have seen on occasions this season. I see Keatings is a doubt for this one.
  10. We will be away to Dunfermline on 25 March and at home to Queen if the South on 10 March. As we are at home to Morton on 3 March, that is midweek games in three consecutive weeks.
  11. Harper recalled from his loan to Elgin. May imply we should not expect any more defensive arrivals.
  12. I was looking at 19/20 as the latest gauge of form. Shows Mckay with 6 from 25 and White with 7 from 28. Thats pretty even to me!
  13. Went to the port tonight intent on sampling Gringo’s cooking and enjoy a juicy steak only to find it..... closed!
  14. Mckay and White have very similar strike rates. I see Mckay has started for those OTB tonight so doubt they would lend him out. McCart has gone from our bench to the St Johnstone bench, at least for tonight’s game. Is the Rooney news from a reliable source?
  15. Both fair points. I’m normally accused of being a “happy clapper” but I’m not as optimistic as normal the way the last few weeks have turned out. I just hope I’m wrong!
  16. No, didn’t count any of them.
  17. As things stand, our first team squad is now only 19 players, with only 5 defenders to cover 4 positions. Rooney, Mckay and Tremarco have all missed games through injury so we really need more cover or, at the very least, to recall Harper from Elgin. Whilst if McCart wanted to go we were as well to let him go and get some cash in, I agree with others: our chances of getting up have reduced this month. However, if we do manage to go up, do any of us think we could build a squad that would keep us up?
  18. Mckay was meant to be our saviour in our relegation season and it didn’t work out so I’m not in favour of that.
  19. That announcement was over a week ago now. Any idea when we will learn more?
  20. I wish McCart well. He was pretty consistent for us in a no nonsense way and on occasions picked out some good passes. He always seemed to care, and impressed even in his loan spell. I just hope the stories of a fall out are unfounded as, if true, they could deter players from coming up here. As others have said, we have taken players who were going nowhere and let them progress their careers. Not just McCart but Donaldson and possibly Rooney and others like Walsh. Hopefully that means we can uncover some more potential gems, if not now but in the summer.
  21. I think that’s naive of him. McCart didn’t play on Saturday so may feel he is being punished by others underperforming. That is hardly likely to motivate him, or any others there is interest in.
  22. Thanks for that. I wondered where he was now. What level are Warrington at? Good they are close to home for him. With our coaching rumours, wonder if we’d ever have a role for him??
  23. Taking on board January transfer activity and feedback from the Ayr game, do we need a shake up for Saturday? If Welsh and Walsh are fully fit, both should start and probably worth giving Toshney a start, particularly if McCart is off to Perth. What about this as a starter for eleven, with Storey playing off White: Ridgers Rooney Toshney McHattie Tremarco Welsh Vincent Walsh Storey Doran White
  24. Just watched the highlights. If it wasn’t for the comments of those there, I’d have felt it was quite an even game. It was a bad goal to concede and Ridgers had a couple of good saves, but we had a goal disallowed for very little, one effort off the bar and we could have had a penalty. One of those days possibly and we can reassert our place in second if we beat Alloa next week before we have a couple of weekends on cup duty.
