  1. Ach, Ross and Christie not starting again. Top 6 is guaranteed, cup business is done and to be blatantly honest I don't really care about Europe. If we get it great, but I wouldn't be too dejected, Like to see the team freshened up to be honest and get them a run. When Ross plays I feel we keep the ball better and Christie may as well get some good game time against the bottom 6 teams. We created plenty of chances versus Well but again our profligacy in front of goal showed up again. Always knew we'd struggle to score if Mckay had a barren run and we need to look at other options.
  2. Seems a bit odd to highlight a loss to Celtic at parkhead as the final straw. It's not like we're the 1st team to be hammered there. From the sounds of it we matched Motherwell for large parts, though some slack defending and a brilliant long ball saw us fall behind, and we never come back to gain points when we go behind. This was the same under Butcher as it was under Hughes. I think we were always likely to struggle if Mckay went through a barren run as we've become too reliant on his goals. Now is the time for others to step up. I'd like to see Ross and Christie start more games.
  3. Was that the snooker club that looked more like a peep show club?
  4. Went to the paradise bar, found it closed (apparently opens at 2), so walked round to the LRT, found a queue of sheep outside. Wandered back around to the Paradise Bar, and then went to the snooker club across the road. Good even split of ICT to Aberdeen fans in there. Seems the "owner" of the bar was probably either a Celtic or Aberdeen taking **** taker. Annoying but dire patter which was easily rectified.
  5. I'd like to see a few taps to the side and straight drives at goal. Some of those attempts, from just outside the box as well, were woeful. Even I could close my eyes and put if fairly close to goal and I've got a broken left peg.
  6. Got to hand it to the lads, they couldn't be faulted for effort. Sadly we did lack in the final 3rd and even when we did get the occasional chance from a set piece it was completely blown. But great effort, tight effective tactics and a top support. Dougal, why do you even bother. Such a negative killjoy.
  7. I wasn't entirely confident in Mckay when he stepped up. I knew where he was going to put it before it was taken and Langfield seemed to read it too. It was a weak penalty. Tansey, well he went for the top corner and on another day that goes it and great penalty. Keeper is not going to have a chance with it. Ross again showing nerve and ability in a shoot out situation with a very well taken kick. And Dorans was nice and confident. Nick Ross would be my 1st choice penalty taker. I agree with Renegades assessment on penalties. Those teams who work on them, study opposing takers and keepers, pick their best takers tend to win shout outs. There is an element of luck, but that stands for all football. You make a lot of your own luck. I was never confident going into a shoot out with Mark Brown in goals as he never looked like saving penalties. Good keeper, but useless in that situation. Billy Mckay, for all his prowess in front of goal doesn't fill me with confidence either. Likes of Pepe Reina, Dida, Ricardo. Every time you think they'll save it if they have a chance. Likes of Gerrard, Le Tissier, Shearer, Alexander. I'd always be confident they'd score, or fear them against my team.
  8. How about Scott Hogan from Rochdale?? 19 goals this season and still only 21. Could be exactly what you are talking about. Just an opinion... Is he available for free? Because if not, it wouldn't happen.
  9. I think the main reservation for clubs over a 16 team league is that it would only offer 30 games which is 8 games of lost gates. However perhaps 16 teams. Play each other twice to 30. Then have a play off finals to determine Europe and relegation in a home/away knock out format. Need many more teams going up and down though. Or the potential for it.
  10. No chance I would have chucked my stub for the game, regardless of the score/result. It was a great day out and a great memory. Wish we could have won but hey, lets just sort it next time. Not sure if I can make this game though :-(
  11. Sweet! So glad to get him signed up. Just get the best youngsters sorted and all is ready for next season.
  12. Typical fare from old Hugh. Surprised anyone would take notice of it. It is true a few of the chants kind of ended abruptly. Not lasting very long. I think perhaps we do lack in songs. I for one like Inverness is fabulous. It's a cheeky mick take at ourselves to a degree. Which is refreshing But Aberdeen, aside from the occasional very good loud chorus of When the Reds go marching in etc weren't exactly drowning us out. And the game as a whole had a great atmosphere. Not sure what the numpty is on about really, but then he talks tosh so I would take much of what he says with a pinch of salt.
  13. Is Polworth to become the next boo boy favourite then. Thought we'd learned a bit since Rory McAllister. Lets get his confidence knocked early doors eh!
  14. It's going to happen at some point or another. The quicker we get on the score sheet again though the better,
  15. Teams only really make a loss in terms of travel when it's to some far off corner off Europe with no planes that go there unless they're chartered. Avoid that and it's not so bad. I'd still take the cup every time though. Europe would be nice but it's realistically not going to last long.
  16. Will either of the 2 nearby pubs have the Utd-Liverpool game on at half 12 on sky sports?
  17. Does the pub have skysports? Simply because the United-Liverpool game is on at half 12. Wouldn't mind catching a bit of that before heading to the ground.
  18. - Brill - - Shinnie - Meekings - Devine - Tremarco - - Draper - Tansey - - Ross - Foran - Doran - - Mckay - Subs: Esson, Raven, Polworth, Williams, Watkins, Christie, Evans. (If only 5 take out Polworth and Evans) Still trying to keep it tight as Aberdeen are a far better team than Hibs at the moment.. Maybe a lack of width too. Not sure what to do defensively. Would like Tremarcos more defensive game and not sure about Raven recently. We have to go 4-2-3-1 though. 4-4-2 is outdated. Mike Bassett kind of stuff that.
  19. Well I'm glad to have got this one right.... And I pretty much went for a 4-1-4(2-2w)-1...... They say these things come in threes.... .....I do hope we can win on Sunday and send me back home happy as larry. ;-)
  20. Should all turn up at the game wearing 1980s sports shell suits and if he says the flag isn't allowed due to fire regulations, just strip to the y's
  21. Travel through from the Burgh early, get a wee bevvy for the vocal cords, head to ground early and catch the build up. Watch the game. get yaldi!
  22. I'm so excited. And I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.
  23. Dougal, Ross County play in bloody Dingwall. How is this possibly a better stadium location, than well, ANYWHERE?
  24. Some folk are going to Rutherglen, near the ground there's also the London Road Tavern and Paradise Bar (which is child friendly in its lounge). They've said they'll be ICT pubs for the day! Maybe shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  25. Meekings was terrible for those 1st 2 goals. Caught badly out of position for the 1st and put all the pressure on the keeper for the 2nd. True, Brill could have just kicked it out, but so could Meekings, instead of the backpass. He had no chance with the penalty and little with the others. Only really one of 4 goals he can really be blamed for. The same with the Celtic game. But when you're getting peppered with shots with no real protection there's always the chance you might make one mistake. Goalies are in the worst position for blame as 1 mistake can lead to a goal against so easily. But Brill has been, well, brill' this season and 1 or 2 errors do not change this. He has been a great signing considering he was relatively unknown. Even the best make mistakes.
