Sorted, players are not the culprits. The clubs are. A player of the standard required by a club finds a bidding war going on. He can choose where to go and can ask a high recompence for his services but the fact is the clubs agree to that very price. In other words they get their man at any cost. The clubs are willing to pay so the players get big deals. This is a true story......Gary Caldwell was very happy at Celtic. Doing well. Club captain. He was on £8000 a week. Half a dozen players at that club were brought in on wages above £20,000 a week. Gary's contract came up for renewal and he wanted to stay at Celtic. He believed that, being club captain he should be a bit closer to other players but he didnt ask for anything near to the others. The fact is that Celtic thought they could extend his contract cheaply so they could sell him on to Middlesborough for a big amount. Instead Gary said stuff you and went to Wigan. Celtic were happy to pay high wages to foriegn bench warmers yet at the same time thought they could profiteer from a home grown and it all backfired on them.

I dont think its really such a big deal for John. I seem to recollect that, as Renegade says, he was there as a stop gap. He lasted longer than expected. East Fife are a part time team. John was a part time manager. I think he was still doing work for Orion and that will always be his fallback. I wish Butcher could find a way of maybe bringing the guy in a day a week to work with our strikers.

It is a condition of membership of the SPL that clubs have an U-19 team. That is the bit that is crippling a lot of clubs at the minute. Our own club are very much feeling the pinch as well. The axe will fall on a number of players at Rangers tomorrow and rumour has it that McCulloch, Alexander, Heally, Broadfoot, Goian and Papac are top contenders for the axe. Others will be offered new contracts at severely reduced wages. Rangers must get out of administration by end of this month to have a chance of competing, and earning, from european competition so the axe is going to cut deep. I know many, including myself, have no sympathy for the situation Rangers find themselves in but livelihoods are the price that will be paid now. I remember how I felt knowing some of the people who lost their jobs at ICT when we were relegated and I feel for the people behind the scenes at Ibrox who will lose their jobs. We moan about the quality we sign, we moan about prices at the gate, we moan about pies. The reality is that were things not the way they are at ICT, and the club are finding it very hard to balance the books, we could just as easily be facing a similar situation. Love or hate Rangers they are an institution in Scottish football and they are a very marketable product worldwide yet they are now on the brink of becoming one of the other, barely surviving, average clubs in the country.

I believe a lot of that series was filmed in Glen Affric

Thats a good tune if it had appropriate words. Bit of useless information on that film. Only the harbour and phone box scenes were filmed in Pennan. All the beach scenes were Morar, including Bens shack. The church was at Lochailort and the pub was the Ship Inn in Banff. Another good tune if words could be put to it is Vangelis = Chariots of Fire

My cousin Billy McKenzie is not your brother

No. Mark was in the Ross County youth before joining Hearts. Ally Ridgers was at ICT. Dont know if they're related.

Penalties from shoot outs are not classed as goals though. Had a good game did the former Staggie. Really!!!! What are they then? Wickets?

Who did Shearer make an FA cup final with? I know he reached a play-off final with Swindon. He won a league cup winners medal and a Scottish cup runners-up with Aberdeen.

Well said Davie

Dougal, I do not profess to having a fondness for Rangers or for that matter any other team in Scotland, other than Elgin City cos my wife says so, but I am beginning to become offended by your constant use of the word ORC in describing them. To me the name calling is tantamount to bullying.

From what I watched today I wouldn't be dropping Ross. He was one of the few who were actually trying. A bit of a change of tack methinks Esson Tokely, Williams, Gillet Proctor, Hayes, Foran, Ross, G. Shinnie McKay, Tade No doubt controversial but a defensive side that can turn to attack

We got beat.....in fact we got torn to shreds. That was nothing to do with Butcher having once played for Rangers. Indeed it really riles me that some folk can think that way. Terry took their wages for three years. Why should that make him a Rangers man any more than anyone else who's ever played for them. He done a job at the time and thats it. We got beat because we didn't go out there and play football. In fact we didn't go out there and play anything. Whether thats to do with tactics, poor quality players or the choice of players on the field I dont know. What I do know is that we have a squad of very good players. Players who can turn it on and play as a team. Yet for some strange reason it aint happening. Is there some underlying reason akin to to demise of Brewster. I hope not and I hope they will all give each other a kick up the ass and come out fighting in the next game.

It happens to even the best teams. We just got to pick ourselves up and get over it.

Not sure why you'd need a ticket on the day if, as you claim, your an ST holder but your statement is very untrue. It was well publisised that tickets would be on sale till 11 am today. This was an all ticket game, as requested by the police, and all purchasers of tickets must be registered. That can't be done if pay at gate. As for your statement at the lack of 'real fans' get a life and learn about life mun. We were about 1400 short of a full house. The game is being played on a sunday at a ridiculous time. We actually have fans who follow their own religion and will not go at such times. We also have many fans, like myself, who dont live in Inverness but who couldn't get to the game because public transport on a Sunday is totally crap. Your so called 'real fans' of ICT are the 2500 or so who turn out for every game regardless of wind, weather, time or tide and that will never change. All the rest, every other week of the season are the 'jonny come lately's' you refer to. Thats the real world.

And maybe a new management team as well.

Top six aspirations????? Our defense wouldn't see us top six in Div 1

Proc on for Meekings........WTF!!!!

No it isn't. ST holders make a saving of around £5 a game over pay at gate. This offer, if I was to take it up, would give me a discount for uncovered section of main stand only if I could find a couple of kids to accompany me. The other part of the offer, if I was lucky enough to be one of the hundred, would be cheaper for me but the full price would still be paid to the club. And if I was a 'real fan', as you so put it, I wouldn't be complaining about schemes that get ICT fans through the gates.

I dont see Elgin overhauling Alloa but they should make the play-offs. As for County, they are in a position that only they can blow. They are not dependant on other results but they have to turn draws into wins. Falkirk will be there at the end as will Dundee so its going to be a good finish to that league.

Thats what retirement does for you Mr McK
