Pitch Inspection***GAME OFF***
I think, in the heat of the moment, many things are said by many fans and officials of both sides, and yes, it is embarrassing for any club to have a game called off but have a look at reality. We have had USH at this ground since Jan 2005. We have had rain, snow, hail and wind every year since then. How many games in all that time have we had to call off? Very few. Generally, we are able to cope but sometimes, unexpected freak weather hits and we cant cope. Is that the clubs fault? And yes, an inch of rain in an eight hour period is freak weather. If that same rainfall have been over Elgin the Lossie would once agaoin be over its banks. Its nobodies fault. Celtic should be thankful that this postponement made Rangers take their eye of the ball and lose.

Games until the split
A bit harsh :annoyed: This will be the final table Celtic Rangers Hearts Dundee Utd Kilmarnock Aberdeen Motherwell Hibernian St Johnstone ICT St Mirren Hamilton dougal I realise you always love to be contraversial dougal but by my reckoning, in order for Motherwell and St Johnstone and Dundee U to be in the positions you'd like two out of three of them need to win two games. Considering St J have Rangers and Celtic as well as DU then I cant see them going above us. DU away to rangers today then away to Motherwell and home to St J I'd be inclined to think St J will not pick up the points and Killie will have the better chance of the fourth spot.

Ayrshire away day
For us to overtake Motherwell all three games are 'most important'. Killie are looking to top DU. They know they are safe in top six so have no real pressure on them so thats going to be a hard one for us. I can see Well going 4 clear of us today so the fight will be tough. Mind you my predictions have been wrong in the past.

Pitch Inspection***GAME OFF***
If the SPL had any common sense and gumption they'd realise that the forecast is good. The camera's and studio are already set up. The refs and teams are in Inverness and the only problem is turning back fans and getting them to travel tomorrow instead. Announce a 24 hr postponement and all is sorted. I cant see celtic being asked to play on 14th, that would mean 4 games in 8 days, but who knows.

New League Cup Sponsors
This is money made from crime and taken from the criminal. The Scottish government have pledged to use the cash to help the youth you describe. Part of that help is to sponsor the league cup for a season and use that competition to promote the work they will be subsidising. The football clubs will be a part of the programme. It is hoped that clubs will give the kids a platform to help themselves and get them of the streets. As to finding sponsors, it has been known for over a year that CIS were pulling out but nobody else came along. Just like the Scottish cup which had to have a year of government sponsorship before it found a new sponsor.

Local derby planned for september
Isn't the plan for the season to start in July?

Local derby planned for september
What a great idea, its good to hear of our local clubs giving something back to the community, the real winners of the game will be the Hospital, the fans who have kindly donated and the clubs who have donated their services, so the way I see it there will be no losers at the match. I wonder how Sir William Beveridge would have responded to this but it is, I suppose, a sad reflection of our times that the public are being asked to subsidise, over and above the taxes we pay, for what was once seen as the greatest institution in the world. The national Health Service. I seem to remember that when the Tony Fraser Trophy was first played for it was going to be an annual event. Such a pity it hadn't continued. Still it will be good to get to a derby game again.

Least favourite team
I think, judging by the red dots, that my command of the english language has wooshed right over the heads of a few people. For something to be your least favourite then in must be in your favourites list. i.e the lesser of your favourites.

Dundee Utd -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
You mean like its done in England? My understanding is that English refs must declare their allegiance and do not officiate at matches involving their own team. Nor do they officiate within 50 miles of their home town.

Least favourite team
I enjoy watching any football but, as I have only one favourite team, I cant actually have a least favourite. For the rest of you I assume you all have a number of favourite teams and you are now discussing the least favourite of those favourites. So what about the teams you dont like?

Scotland v England at TCS
Not something that has been well publicised but, for all you who wish to go along and support Scotland Schoolboys U-18 against England in the Centenary Shield competition, the match will be played at TCS on 21st April with a 1935 kick off. The game will also be televised live of Skysports. I discovered this info by accident whilst looking up on the Vicory Shield on the English Schools FA site Here I would have thought that at the very least ICTFC.co.uk could have published details of this one. On saying that the Scottish Schools FA website doesn't make it easy to find out things either.

League cup final
From a neutral point of view it was quite a good game and the one thing I like about the result is that niether of the two can now boast of winning a treble.
-
Refuseniks
Call them Kingsmill Telford FC and there'll be even more. I dont think many statasticians would make sense of this poll. To me the results would say that 24 people think there are refuseniks but none know how many. The other thing that makes the poll invalid is the banding within each choice. Choice 1 is 0-50 so if I think the answer is 1 I have a possibility of being 49 out. Another choice gives 900-1500 so if I think the answer is 901 I could be as much as 599 out. Then there's 1500 to infinity. The truth is that those who chose to refuse to support the new team are a small number whereas there are probably a good few others who found themselves faced with the choice of supporting the new scottish league team or sticking with the scottish league team they had always supported. The highland league team in Inverness being the team they went to watch on a saturday when they couldn't go and see their scottish league team. There is no evidence to suggest that one or other of the two teams would have had an increased support had they gone it alone. I was a Jaggy in the early 70's but when I moved away from the highlands I didn't attend football much. I didn't actually start being a regular until ICT,s 02/03 season in div 1 so it could be said that I became a new fan. It is unlikely that I'd have made journeys from central belt to watch Thistle in the highland league and I dont think I'd have travelled up the A9 to watch Thistle as a lone team wallow in the lower leagues. I am a realist and know that thats where any one of the two teams would be now had they gone it alone.

Team for Celtic
Personally I feel Foran plays better as a striker. Esson Tokely, Hogg, Munro, Gillet Hayes, Cox, Duncan, Doran Foran, Rooney

how many people are interested in abstainers
Here's me sat at home with a bottle, depressed as hell cos my team were sh!te and failed to get a result in a game that was there for the taking and what do I find? Not solace. Not sympathy. Not even apathy. Just some stupid poll about some stupid subject. How good it would be to be back in the days of sportsnetwork.

Dundee Utd -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
Roger you seen it as I seen it. I dont know whats going on with our team but somethings amiss. There was no communication among players. Indeed it was like watching ten guys who'd only met today for the first time. Something is very wrong at ICT. A couple of weeks ago there was talk about how the managers and players got round the table and had an open and honest discussion about the problems and the word was that all had been sorted and everyone was friends again. After then we went out and hammered Motherwell and were close to beating Celtic. Today we're back to pre then. Where is the team that works for each other? The team that fights for everything and anything? The team that punches above its weight? Where is the TEAM? The last time I seen an ICT team so disjointed was when Charlie Christie was struggling to get everyone to play around Niculae.

Dundee Utd -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
We're 1 point away from 6th with 3 games left. We haven't blown it yet. Three games against Celtic, Hearts and Kilmarnock. Personally I dont see Motherwell dropping points against Aberdeen and I think they'll take at least 1 from DU whereas I dont see us take any more than 4 from the last games, if even that.

Esson
He did for about ten mins of a game. Think it was Brown sent off and we had made all our subs. Never saved the penalty either.

Dundee Utd -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
Just home from what was a pretty rubbish game. The team selection and tactics left a lot to be desired. Odhiambo was his usual cr*p. No ball control. Poor passing. Should have been hooked after 20 mins. The referee was abysmal. And why when we need to win a game did we hook Rooney in favour of Gillet? All in all the game was pretty scrappy. Too many needless stoppages and too many mistakes from both teams. We were lacking in ideas and any attacks we mounted came to nothing. Dundee U were no better but our big problem, and ultimately their goal, came from a failure to clear our box with any authority. We lacked communication and too many times found two or three players staring at a loose ball with nobody acting. For me todays performance was not one deserving of a top six finish and I think we've blown it on that score.
