The person who shows he's the best for the job obviously.
  3. Dont think that remark was called for. After all the ring might have extreme sentimental meaning...............would probably take more than 150 odd quid to replace it anyway.
  4. All right Craig..............want a beer.............then I'd likely chat about the weather and holidays and all the things folk chat about. I dont talk about my work when I'm away from it so I wouldn't expect anyone else to talk about theirs.
  5. I'd wait and see where my favoured players ended up. Hopefully St Johnston. But so long as I have but one share in this club it will never die.
  6. That came through quiet and clear on the radio today. well done to both sets of supporters. unlike elsewhere where a minute's applause had to be observed to drown out those who would disrupt it. Well maybe things are not so clear cut, and maybe some among that support would have little cause to celebrate the memory of lost British soldiers, who until very recently had been considered an occupying, enemy force. We no doubt all have relatives who have died in wars, and we honour them, but other people's experiences are not necessarily the same as ours. And of course half of Glasgow's citizens dont have relatives who died in war. And no soldier of the Irish Rifles was killed either. This rememberance is about reflecting on those who fought to protect the Islands of Britian and Ireland and should have nothing to do with anything else.
  7. Alex, am afraid i read Brewster's statement with my own eyes at the time, as i say, twas about 2-3 weeks before he turned his back on us. Ironically, he went up in my estimations ten fold at the time! As for Shearer, I honestly cant see him EVER being back in charge of ICT, so cant see it being an issue for me. BUT, can you remind me of what he said. Am not sure i recall this episode at all, but often hear it referred to. Dont remember the exact quote but he was on Grampian news on the friday night after Pele accepted the Aberdeen job telling us all how much he loved ICT and the fans and how he wasn't going anywhere. On the saturday he signed on at Aberdeen. I believe he is already back at the club as Youth Development Coach.
  8. Second best Pittodrie was louder. Great, noisy, singing, away support today - obviously appreciated by the team. Nearly as good as at Pittodrie in August but that was different as that was a 1st win against the Reds. No wonder so many of our "away" fans enjoy the away games better than the home games - the atmosphere is SO different. At away games everyone is grouped together so even 100 can sound like thousands. At home there's no unison between the two stands. In fact sitting in the main stand, depending on wind, its not always possible to hear the north stand. We need an oval stadium.
  9. No! no! no! He hasn't deserted anything, as you well know Mr Mannie. I was never a fan of bringing Brewster back but I accepted it and got behind him and the team. I always said he should get the chance to build his own team and show what he can do. Last saturday I didn't jump ship. I jumped overboard. Right on the half time whistle. I was disgusted by what I'd witnessed at the Bronx and vented my frustrations. Two or three consistantly good results and I may even buy the guy a drink next time in the Heathmount but thats what everyone wants to see. Results. No he didn't. He just left. At least Brew negotiated a decent compensation package before he went. I take it even if Brew leaves you won't be coming back because Shearer's at the club. Some of us remember his interview the night before he signed for Aberdeen.
  10. Maybe, just maybe, if Brew was to choose two strikers, and stick with them, they would gel as a partnership and succed in the last third. As it is he chops and changes so much each game. I notice today it was the turn of Dougie and Garry up front. Do they look like a partnership?
  11. How did Esson perform today?
  12. For the record ICT do run soccer schools during the school holidays. The only teams I know of who run travelling schools are Man U. Celtic and Rangers. The majority of other clubs invite kids from around their own area. The highlands, although all probably agree, are a big catchment are, are a big area with very poor transport links so it will always be difficult to attract fans from outside. The easiest way always is to be successful on the park. Get our home record, especially, improved and gate will slowly increase. People want entertainment not heartache.
  13. Bobby and Mrs Wilson go to most, if not all, games. Well done today Mr Brewster and the lads. Good to see a win. Not that I seen it in the gale swept north sea. I think the real test will be wednesday night. Falkirk are poor just now so its important to take the opportunity to turn them over. Two wins back to back then build on it between now and january.
  14. If that was true, why then is it that there are bus loads of Old Firm Fans traveling further every week form the highlands to watch their teams? Because those supporters clubs have been established for many, many years and they can offer subsidised buses because they can fill them. I cant see a Wick ICT supporters club forming and being able to provide 48 passengers on a bus no matter how much publicity ICT display around that area. We'd be lucky to be able to fill a bus from the Innes let alone further afield.
  15. Mark who??? To be fair to Mark when he went to Celtic there was talk of Boruc wanting away so perhaps he felt at the time that he'd have a good chance of the No. 1 jersey and a crack in the national squad. Good luck to him in every game over the next couple of months except on 29th.
  16. Whats classified as the Highlands of Scotland ----take a line from Loch Fyne up through parts of Stirling-shire to Perth then up to West of Forres ---- has a population near to half million. Highland Council ------roughly a line from a little south of Fort William, up around Speyside to East of Nairn, and all the way to the North coast ----- population 217, 000. Ross County have a big part of that whole catchment. We probably have as many travel from Dingwall and surrounding areas as we have from Inverness to them. Wick and Thurso folk prefer to go to Glasgow. Maybe one or two travel from Ullapool and the likes. Consider the cost for all those people to travel.
  17. So if the 10 replies to my post was a representation the 200,000 people in the Highlands, then the 3 posts who stated that the travel to ICT games, ( 30%) kinda proves my point in a non-scientifical/economical way that there is an untapped market for supporters in these places, who dont have an incentive to go to games. I gaurantee there are thousands who travel to Inverness from around the Highlands for shopping throughout the year. ICT could easily offer a lunch/match deal for couples/familys who do travel to the City for Shopping. Trust me when i say there is an untapped supporter base out there, so i cant believe why ICT employ a commercial/Marketing team if they cant see this. Where do you get your 200,000 from? Inverness population around 65,000. The next biggest, within the Shire is probably Fort William at around 11,000.
  18. Jesus Alex - do you really think that in the long-term that would be most financially prudent thing to do? We have to take a financial risk this year and reject any January offers for Blackie or Cowie as they could be the difference between staying up and going down. With the fanbase we have we need to be a selling club to survive.
  19. Last season the club ran at a loss. If I remember correctly, from the accounts, there is around ?250k in the bank so we are in the black. For this year what money there is from Niculae plus tv enhancements plus the money from the excellent run we will have in the Scottish cup will be reflected in next years accounts. Perhaps we may even manage to sell a player come january to boost the coffers. Wages and matchday costs are the biggest expenditure for any football team. Looking at the hoardings around the stadium I'd say we've increased our sponsorship. So all in all we're probably ok. ICT is a Private Limited Company. They provide, to shareholders, a breakdown of accounts but dont have to detail where every penny came from or went to. Generally only the accountants and account auditors see such detailed information.
  20. Cant see many from Stornoway willing to spend ?200 + for a return flight and whatever for two nights accomodation. also considering a day off work on monday. Targeted catchment has to be realistic and, I would say, concentrated in and close to the city.
  21. How many times have you actually watched fraser play this season? I have watched him plenty and to suggest last saturday was a one off is nonsense. There have been plenty of other games he has cost us this season . What is the point in having competition for places if you are not punished for poor performances. Regarding what i have read in an earlier post about Michael being a great athlete, what great athlete would be out in the city centre on tuesday night drinking along with several of his teamates. That sums up how much last saturdays defeat hurt them and the lack of disciplne being imposed by our management team. I've seen seven league games this season. Where in my post do I suggest last saturday was a one off? So the players get a wednesday off and go out tuesday night for a drink. Dont you think even Ronaldo and Van der Sar go out for a drink one night a week? Do you not have a social life? Lets look at the first two goals last saturday:- 1. Dubious free kick........shot on goal........Mike saves but spills..........Novo in space...no contest. Where the feck was Novo's marker? 2. Pass back to keeper............poor clearance under pressure...........why the feck pass back in such a situation? Yes Mike made mistakes but so did every one of our outfield players. All I'm saying is why make Mike the scapegoat.
  22. Is This The Story If thats the story being referred to then I dont actually read anything, other than a journalists supposition, about Mike being dropped. Incidently, how do you read the back page of fridays courier on a thursday?
  23. Obviously CD still has to calculate the monthly winner but looking at the HN, and remembering that Blackie and Imrie looked to be the ones getting all the votes over the month I've come to the conclusion ICT have two sets of supporters. Those who post on this site and those who read HN Link to HN poll
  24. Here's the link for all who want it
  25. I've not seen Esson in a competitive match so cant really judge him but, considering he has a great deal more experience than Mike, I cant see him being a better keeper. If he was would he be signing as No 2 for us. I think it would be unfair to punish Mike on saturdays performance and it would be a bad hit to his confidence if he was made the scapegoat for that disaster. Drop Mike then I suggest you drop the other ten who started that day.
