Paterson Checks Into Rehab
Unless you've experienced any form of addiction, or been involved with those close to you who have, then I dont think you have a right to comment on the problem, especially to make comments like 'nobody pours a drink down an alcoholics throat, nobody forces a junkie to shoot up and nobody forced him into a bookies'. There is a very very thin line between control and addiction and when the control becomes an addiction there is no control. Maybe one day Mr Asterisk, or anyone else for that matter, will find themselves having to deal with addiction. I sincerely hope they dont. Last night I watched a programme about an 8 year old girl who was being treated for anorexia. Anorexia being basically an addiction to being slim. This little girl didn't have the life knowledge or maturity to know what was happening to her or why. Something in the brain makes the anorexic person see themselves differently to how anyone else see's them. Should we just say, in this girls case, 'nobody forces her not to eat'? Or should we show help and support. I have been in the priviledged position of having chatted to Steve Patterson and found him to be a very likeable and interesting person, with a real enthusiasm for his new job, and, until last wednesday when I read the Daily Record, would never have thought there was a part of him that wasn't in control. I am, however, quite confident that, given the treatment and councilling, and reading the messages of support from all who have crossed his path, he will beat this illness and come bouncing back to a happy life. I seem to recall gazza also attended this clinic. Could be wrong though.

Contract talks
Sorry people but I didn't start this thread so you can slag of Mike Fraser. IMO he's as good as the majority of SPL keepers and is doing very well for his age. Most keepers don't reach there true potential till they're nearer 30 than 20.

Contract talks
From the Highland news Would appear that Grant knows his offer and is almost happy. He'll also have the added incentive of a testimonial.

Ian Black
The present team at Scotland HQ do look further than the OF. Also managers will flag up a player who they think could do a job at national level. Unfortunately for Ian at this time there's too many to choose from in his position. Not sure that I can make comparrisons between Arfield and Black. Arfield is 5 years younger and very enthusiastic at the moment Ian was the same at that age. Maturity shows differences. I think Ian probably reads a game a lot better now.

BENI Display for Celtic game
After telling them not to bother and that they would embaress themselves. Indeed. You really should read whats been posted. I said it would be embarassing if only a few turned up with flags after publicly announcing a "display". I'm all for big banners like the ones the Red Ultras have for example. Perhaps you should take your own advice. Read whats been posted. We haven't publicly announced there will be a display. We have stated our belief that it would be a good idea to have one, and suggested some possible means of achieving it. But you have publicly announced there will be a display. OP states that the pair of you have decided BENI will be doing a display for the Celtic game. DALNEIGHCALEY, do you really need to nit-pick on what the young supporters of this club are trying to achieve. They put a lot of effort into trying to organise themselves and dont need to be put of by constant negativity. I'll be in main stand for game so cant join in with you guys but however you go about it remember to be seen to be acting in a responsible manner and show the club that creating an atmosphere is done in good behaviour. The more they see of jollity and the less of confrontation can only bode well for the future.

Rory McAllister
Ross, do you have absolute proof of that allegation. If not then please refrain from making slanderous and libellous remarks. I very much doubt that if the lad was an alcoholic at sixteen he would be given a chance by any football team.

Support all thats been said. I had a chat with Stevie a few weeks ago and he was really enthusiastic about his new job in Banff. Hope they hold it for him. And I'm sure we can all say 'there but for the grace of god'.

Suggest a replacement
And I started the thread with, as RiG say's, tongue firmly in cheek. From the list thats been produced so-far I dont see anyone who could do the job any better than the man in the seat at the minute. And that includes Colin Henry. At the end of the day, for 90 minutes on a saturday, its the players who are performing. Tactics can be discussed before the kick off but once they are out on the field its them playing the game. When they play as a team it works well. The ball stays on the ground and they can beat anyone. When they dont start playing as a team, and they're under the cosh, panic sets in and the long ball appears. On saturday I watched each and every player on the field play football together as a team. They played for each other. Some stood out more than others but there were no prima donna's. The skill that Craig Brewster or anyone else needs is to get that sort of performance right every week. At the beginning of the season I said I would watch how Brew builds a team, watch how they perform and see where we are after 22 games. I will then decide whether or not I think he's the right person for the job. If that makes me a happy clapper then so be it. But if anyone see's me unhappy after a game they will also see I am not clapping. And just to add...............10 points from the first 7 games on the season is the best we've ever achieved. Is that not progress?

Tokely on Saturday
Not sure that Proctor is deemed to be 100% fit yet. I have always supported and defended Rossco's runs up front. All good teams have defenders that do exactly the same as Ross and, to an extent, Dickie do. In fact some teams allow their central defenders the same scope. The difference between a good team and a great one is that in the great team every player will be attacking when it comes about and every player will be back there defending when it goes the other way. Ross does what Ross does and when the team are playing well he is covered. Its only when the team are doing bad that he gets singled out.

Ian Black
I like the following few lines taken from an article in Teamtalk.com As soon as the young midfielder finds himself anywhere near the opposition box, he only has one thing on his mind and that is to have a strike at goal. Occasionally, the 23-year-old will produce a thunderous finish, and sometimes he has the spectators behind the goal ducking for cover. One thing the 5ft 8ins midfielder is not renowned for is his heading prowess, so he surprised everyone when he ventured into the box to seal Saturday's impressive 3-1 Scottish Premier League home victory over Kilmarnock by nodding home an Iain Vigurs corner. Black said: "That's the first header I have scored for Inverness and my first goal of the season so it was extra special for me. I think I was one of the smallest players on the park at the time so to go and win the ball amongst all those big boys was absolutely brilliant."

These things take time, especially where agents are involved, because a persons livlihood for the next period of time is being sorted out. I'd be very surprised if talks weren't ongoing at the minute.

Section G 1-0 Stewards
In the past we've had Ace and Rock Steady doing the stewarding and IMO those companies were not too fussy about who they employed. Now, it would appear, Group 4 Securities are doing the job. It is my understanding that all their personell are licenced, though even with a licence they cant actually do much more than ask the police to assist where there are problems. They can request that a person leaves the stadium but I dont think they can physically enforce if. One thing I noticed in the last couple of home games is there are far less stewards watching the home fans. On saturday I saw no more than 4 at any one time looking after the whole North Stand. Looking at the incident on saturday where the stewards did come and speak to the lads at the back, I believe they listened to the gentleman who spoke out, then with advice from the supervisor and an assessment of the situation decided no harm was being done and so left well alone. It may also be that the match commander had some input as well on assessing the video footage. I dont think any one side won a point over the other and I would advise that nobody gloat but instead acknowledge that common sense prevailed and show that no harm is meant, nor will come, from the section G brigade.

Fasten your seatbelts.....
Todays game was indeed strange. Players come out, start poorly like every other week. Mike makes a mistake that results in an early goal for Killie. Same poor play continues for 15 - 20 mins then its like someone threw a switch and everything changed. It was overdrive from then on in. Some really good play from all the team and a very deserved victory. And once again Blackie is the man of the day crowning it all with a cracking goal. How he got up that high I'll never know. And the lads in section G. A big hand to you. You were well on song today.

Suggest a replacement
Seems to me that almost every thread has some footballing expert calling for Brewsters head but I dont see any suggestions for a replacement so this thread is your chance to come up with a replacement. No off topic.......No personal abuse please..............And bear in mind the likely salary. My suggestion is Colin Hendry with Barry Wilson as No.2

League position after next 4 games.

ICT's Forgotten Heroes
Steven Watt came to us on loan, played in one game got injured and never recovered before his loan term was up. Swansea never renewed his contract and now, I believe, he's at County. Tom Parratt signed a two and half year deal with us but never played in SPL. he was released from his contract in 06 and helped Accies win div 1. He joines Queen of the South this season. Ally Ridgers was deemed not big enough and I think is now at Clach

The fourth round draw is not seeded so anyone can get anyone. Rule 4.6 reproduced below 4.6 For the Fourth Round in either event, the eight winning Clubs will be inserted into an ?unseeded? ballot. These Clubs will play a single tie on the ground of the first named Club. The four winning clubs will qualify for the Semi-Final Round.
