  1. The poor guy's too nervous on 'home' matchday morning to put a razor to his face. He's so feart that someone in the stand might drop a pin and make him jump.
  2. Can I just point out two things Pele's failing at Aberdeen was not due to his managerial ability but to the ilness of alcoholism. Robbo did not fail at Hearts. He had no intention of being anyones Puppet so didn't fit with the Lithuanian philosophy. As for Brewster, he came to a team that was well established and hungry for success. He didn't actually do anything, other than develop added fitness in some of our guys, but he took all the accolades though. He's now experiencing what its like to try and build a team from next to nothing, and with a very impatient director on his back 24/7. If he comes through this season beating relegation then I think he'll go on to show up as a good manager. I wish him well.
  3. Most clubs in the premiership and championship have top class youth set ups that bring through excellent players. Unfortunately, not too many get straight into first team due to squad sizes etc. Coaches want to see how the lads will cope before committing them so send them out on loan to other leagues, including SPL. There are a few loan players playing in Scotland this season who are developing into top class talent by getting first team exposure and who will go back to their respective clubs and make their mark. The idea is a great way for teams like us, who cant afford the better players, to help other clubs whilst, at the same time, having the opportunity to field the up coming talent, be it only between windows. Any links of this type take time to come to fruition because the lending team will always want to be sure their lad is being developed. Would anyone bet against Falkirk getting another few players from Arsenal after Stokes goes back down south.
  4. Lets get things into perspective guy's. If one lad holds up a bank should we all do it. It is, and has been for a number of years now, illegal to enter a field of play during a match. Not a football offence, nor a stadium offence, but an offence against the law of the land. When someone does it we all think its funny but if the police choose to take action then accept the consequences. I have friends in the police and have spoken to them before about this very subject and they say that normally the perpretrator is given a talking to and ejected. An arrest is, usually, only made if there is a further breach of the peace during apprehension. i.e. being violent or lippy to the arresting officers. What went on in this instance I dont know but it is wrong to blame the police for upholding the law.
  5. Falkirk announcer slags Dunfermline and vice versa, DU announcer slags Dundee and vice versa, It doesn,t happen so much at Rangers and Celtic now cos they usually play on different days. Hibs slag Hearts and vice versa. It's called rivalry and banter. Thats the big boy football game. Get used to it. Its all part of the fun of the day. Are you also complaining when County get a slagging as their score comes through?
  6. No we are not. We are now on a par with any of the teams below us, barring maybe Aberdeen and Hibs. Just like all the others we are a mid table team with aspirations to achieve good cup runs and a top six finish. Unlike the others we dont have the big debts around our necks. As you can all see I'm back again. Drank all the Keo brandy in Cyprus to celebrate stuffing the Huns.
  7. Johndo If I were picking the team I'd have the three of them on: Brown Tokely Dods Munro Hastings Wilson Hart Rankin McAllister Dargo Bayne All out attack from the off aka HMS Sneck style.
  8. Yogi Hughes for Hibs.
  9. He's only 28. Theres no reason, especially if he's adopted the Brewster mentallity, he cant go on for another ten years.
  10. I'd put McAllisted in from the start. He has more hieght than Dargo and can hold the ball up a bit.
  11. Thank fluk I dont place my bets on those predictions. :015:

  16. Oops!!!!!!! Never looked at the dates. Just thought it was a new thread. :010:
  17. Hi Mee, nice to see you making a comeback, even if it is with a vengeance. Hope to see you at matches again too. As for Scotland, I have to agree with some of the so called 'negative' comments but I will say this. We are improving, we do have a few decent players and we do have a good mix of youth and experience. Also the National youth policy is showing success for the future. We are entitled, however, to be elated at the success over the last eighteen months. It's been a long time coming. Bear in mind, one and all, that, as we are improving, so to are the Bulgarias of the world. Most of those 'so called' Eastern Block countries are present or future members of the EEC and, as such, their players have more freedom to move within europe and to gain a great deal more knowledge and experience, from this, than they could have done in the past. As for the quality of the top teams from the world cup. Personally I dont think there's a team out there that could lace the boots of those teams who qualified in the seventies and eighties. The Brazil's, Mexico's, Argentines, Germans of that era would p1ss on any of todays bunch of cheats and divers and Scotland can be as good as whats on offer now. As for religious comments made above, and I hope mine is the last seen on this thread, every man, woman and child on this earth has a right to believe, or disbelieve, whatever they feel comfortable with and nobody has a right to mock that belief. Rant's over.
  18. There's always reason for seeking investors. The more income, the more that can be done to improve. Maybe even, one day, be in a position to give shareholders a return on their investment. i.e dividend payouts. Though I wont hold my breath on that one. This club could never survive on gate reciepts alone and there is a limit to what support people like David Sutherland can provide so its only sensible business practise to seek other avenues of income.
  19. It'll be worth the bottle just to see you grovel JB. True Scots BELIEVE
  20. The pipeband should assemble outside the Innes and march to the stadium with the fans following.
  21. And Liam Fox was an U-21 Internationalist.

  24. VIVE L' ECOSSE
  25. I see a few comments here about integrating with the community and promoting to the kids. Truth is, that is already happening. Thats what TeamICT is all about. The players do take the time to get around the schools etc. It takes years to alter the mindset of a lot of people though. What we need to do is to bring folk into the stadium in the short term. Make the day a day of entertainment with a good football match thrown in. American Football must be one of the most boring spectator sports but the game is made into a spectacle by fitting in other entertainments, cheerleaders etc. during the many breaks they have in the game. British football needs to get into the 21st century and provide value for money and if the Highland News really wants to get involved then lets see them get away from the editing table and out to the stadium. Sponsor something. Penalty shootout, kids seven a side at half time, (short pitch, five mins each half). Once upon a time a car dealership in Falkirk put up a prize of a vehicle to the person who could hit a particular target, positioned in the goalmouth, from the centrespot. Dont remember anyone actually achieving this but I did know loads of people who would go to the game just to have the chance of trying. People who wouldn't normally go to a match became hooked. Theres lots of things that can be done but someone needs to take the lead. Come on Highland News, lets see action and not just words.
