London Caley Jags..?

Good morning.

Any Caley Jags in London or Southeast of England?

Recent Caley Jag convert here. Watched 4-0 win over the Queens last week. Took advantage of the Black Friday hospitality package. Watching the footy was part of a city break I booked on a whim to Inverness.

When I planned my Inverness trip - i did so without checking footy fixtures first. That was after - when I was looking at what I could do that would be interesting to see and do.

I came to Caley Jags as 'merely' an experience to see two teams I have always seen as exotic by their names. Was happy to see that they both were playing each other and I could get tickets. Before I saw the Black Friday deal - was going to get a turnstile ticket anyhow. I honestly walked up to the Caley Stadium not knowing anything much - apart from the intriguing name of the Club.

Great to see that the supporters trust chairman now has a seat at the Club Board table and is a Club potentially going places. I'm no glory hunter though.

I am in Stepney, east London - any other Caley Jags in London or the Southeast of England?

Perhaps form a little crew or group of us?!

Welcome to the forum and to the club. There's a lot of history for you to catch up on - much of it documented here!

I'm Inverness born and bred, but have lived in the London area since starting work in 1978. Used to go and see Arsenal when I was first in north London, but couldn't feel involved. Have been a resident of St Albans ("Snorbens" to the locals) for 41 years amazed

As Gringo said, there are handful around - the clues are in their usernames!

Welcome to the forum.

Like Snorbens above, I too am Inverness born and bred, but living in Berkshire, near Reading for more years than I remember (about 60 I think).

There used to be a few more of us. Now I see Eagle for Caley every year or two but not many others.

I still follow all ICT's matches, and have several 'converts' at my golf club who do likewise.

I nearly went up for the QotS match too, but took the cheaper option when I saw that it was on BBC Alba. I hope to get up later in the season, especially if they do the hospitality at half price again.

I'm in the south-east of England. My story of why is in the fairly recent thread "Why suppport ICT?". I'm a former West Ham season ticket holder (gave it up after 26 years at the end of 2023/24) and am enjoying ICT's season far more than WHU's.

Well I think I live in the south east but the local Norfolk-ites would be horrified at the thought!

Most of my family ties are on the Moray and Aberdeenshire coasts but Dundee born and Aberdeen brought up until emigrating to Scouseland as a young teenager (hence I also have a Tranmere Rovers affiliation). When the CaleyJags formed in 1994 it was like the club I’d waited for all my life had been born - quite a rollercoaster since to say the least!

Don’t get back home much these days so the TV game against QotS was a big deal in the household - helluva match for yer first ICT experience! If you can manage it I’d recommend trying to get to one of our away games, they’re always a great day out with a cracking atmosphere amongst the travelling support.

Welcome to the club and forum LCJ 👍

Sorry LCJ I managed this to miss this thread when it was first posted. Welcome to the clan, and you picked a great first game to watch Caley live!

As Gringo noted I have been around for a while (2013 was my first live match v our rivals Ross County no less, which we won) and I also support Palace (53 years and finally a trophy!) and also Sutton United. (so clearly a glory hunter!)

I think I am part of a small but growing band of English Caley supporters, and its a great way to discover Scotland too, having done trips to Inverness (sometimes with my wife and even mid-week). Away trips have included Ayr, Dumfries (QotS), Dundee, Dunfermline, Livingstone, St Mirren, Airdrie, Queens Park, Falkirk and Partick Thistle {plus Birmingham City and Charlton for friendlies), missed out on Kilmarnock [Covid] and Hearts [Storms]...also made it to one League Cup Final, two Scottish Cup finals [inc the one we won] and two SC semi-finals [with Caley Mad}.

I live near Croydon so Gatwick gives me good Easyjet access to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, whilst I have also used Heathrow [BA when the ticket prices are sensible] and Luton Airport [I can get a direct train from East Croydon or St Pancras where I work] I have also trained it from Kings Cross and Euston, and coached it up once [Scottish Cup Semi Final when it was a 12:15 start and I watched Palace the afternoon before!] and back several times from Edinburgh or Glasgow from matches around the central belt. I think my family think I am slightly bonkers, but they also recognise I love the logistics of getting up and back. Definitely a case of planning in advance and playing the system, can I get a good hotel deal or is a day trip possible? So next on my list is East Fife away in April!

I have met up with a couple of fans in London in the past to watch Caley live on TV when we were in the Scottish Premiership , but as you can imagine since we dropped out of that league we have been confined to viewings on BBC Scotland and BBC Alba, which surprisingly London Pubs don't show on a Friday evening!

Are you thinking of an away match or two in the future [even Inverness home matches are 'away' of course'] Living in Stepney Glasgow and Edinburgh are do-able from London City Airport, or Stanstead, or Luton. A trip to Inverness usually means an overnight stay esp mid-week

Happy to meet up in the New Year if you fancy it for a pint in Central London [or Liverpool Street]

I'm another one from London - similarly I was on holiday in Inverness in 1998 when tickets were available for our League Cup game against Aberdeen and the rest is history. Managed to get up for most of the games in 2002-03, not much in recent years although hopefully soon...

Caley Thistle get into the blood very quickly don't they, maybe helps that Inverness is a great place to visit too.

Like Eagle4Caley I am also late to this party. I am from the North West orginally and grew up a Man Utd supporter through my dad. In 2001 my dad (working in the nuclear sector) moved us to Caithness for his job at Dounraey and after taking in a game against Ayr United with him (2-1 win) I was hooked on ICT.

I attended the first ever SPL Promotion from the Kessock Bridge and after that I got a Season Ticket when they returned to inverness after a half season at Pittordrie. My mate gave it up and my sister took over and we both continued to travel down from Caithness to every home game, while we were both at School. I left for Stirling in 08 for uni and continued my ST as well as increase my away game consumption. After graduation i moved back to Cheshire (my home county) and had to give up my ST.

I continued to attend big matches when i can (Scottish League cup semi with 9 men, the final that year and of course a year later 2015 against Celtic and then Falkirk) but my biggest regret was missing the trip to Romania but I had to work. After relegation I came up for a few derbies and sadly missed the play off run but watched it from a far trying to initiate some new members by watching with friends. I was there in 23 and I do try to get to matches when I come to my family that now live near Tain - including Alloa earlier this season. I'm here now but my parents have surprised us to have a trip away this weekend otherwise i was planning the Peterhead game on Sat.

I know live and work in Ipswich (current season ticket holder and done quite a few away in the last 4 years since covid) and met someone through Town, who also supports ICT having been on a work assignment in Glasgow in 2000 and decided to go to a midweek Scottish cup game at Parkhead - he went in the away end and was hooked ever since as well as doing the NC500 and seeing the magic that is the highlands. Hopefully will get re-promoted and i hoping to bring a few of my Ipswich Town mates up for a long weekend and maybe take in a Derby (if they survive hahahahaha). Ive got a great affiliation to Scotland especially the Highlands and saw Scotland in Germany in 24 in a fanzone - mate had a ticket - and wore my ICT 15 scottish cup winning shirt as my only Scottish item and ended up in the middle of the black isle Tartan Army singing going bust going bust going bust - well the joke is them hahahaha. I was at Hampden in Nov and although I will always support England when they play (rarely) I always want Scotland to do well all because of my time going to school, university and falling in love with ICT and the great people i have met through all of them.

Wish everyone a Happy New Year!!!!

Liam

. Yeah a bottomless coffee (I don't drink) in a pub would be good! Liverpool St is 20 mins bus/train from me.
