Away to Cove, Sat 10th Jan 2026

Morning all, not to put a dampener on anyone's weekend but living in Aberdeen I would be shocked if this game is on - this is the view from mine and MrCaleyjag's front door this morning in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

Here's the story so far...

Snow Show or No Show

That is the question? I'm afraid it's another weather permitting weekend as we are due to face Cove Rangers in the middle of the Arctic freeze at Balmoor. The Caley Jags have not played since the back to back defeats against Stenhousemuir and Montrose, the last game played at Links Park on 27th December where we squandered numerous opportunities to take something from a less than clinical performance against Montrose. That result, coupled with Stenhousemuir beating Queen of the South sees the Warriors top the table in the first week of 2026.

  3. Alloa 1-1 ICTFC✔️

  4. ICTFC 4-0 Accies✔️

  5. Stenny 1-0 ICTFC

  6. Monty 2-1 ICTFC

On the plus side, the break might have given Chanka Zimba the time he needs to get back to full fitness.

ImageCove team that thumped Peterhead in the North East Festive hammering.

Cove appear to be a recovering beast recently and have won their last two games with 11 points from their last six. The Caley Jags have 10 points over the same period. Those two wins saw nine goals scored in the 4-0 win at Peterhead and a brilliant 5-2 win at Kelty Hearts whilst we were going down to Stenhousemuir and Montrose.

Cove pulled off a superb result in the Scottish Cup dumping runaway Championship leaders St Johnstone out of the competition. Adam Emslie scored an extra-time winner after Mitch Megginson had levelled the match with twenty minutes to go.

These two are important players for Cove and it would be prudent to keep a close eye on them.

Cove Rangers website doesn't help. It hasn't been updated with even routine match information for a couple of months.

Richard Gordon (ex Sportscene) did their comms but left earlier in the season. Clearly a void that’s not been filled.

Did he? I must have missed that.

Ground will be rock hard if the game gets a go ahead. Usually such games are not great to play in or watch as the ball is difficult to control on hard surfaces and end up being skelpted about.

We have the players to go and get a win nonetheless at Cove IMO. It’s down to the mindset on the day.

That's what worries me. Could turn the match into a lottery, and/or result in serious injury.

Fingers crossed.

Advice from Cove:

⚠️ Areas surrounding the stadium remain covered in snow, so please take care and wear appropriate footwear. The overspill car park at the Technip premises is clear, so if you are unable to park in the stadium car park, additional spaces are available there.

ImageCove had a sturdy looking squad on the field with Chris Maguire, Adam Emslie and Mitch Megginson big threats up front.

ImageRoss Millen was suspended and Alfie Stewart's contract has still to be sorted. Chanka Zimba returned to the starting XI to lead the line with Sole, Mckay and Bavidge on the bench.

Really could do with winning this game. Getting a bit worried, especially with Stenhousemuir getting a big win.

Bit depressing at the moment, Scoring touch has deserted us... why? best players in the league? Can't see Partick getting worried.

Penalty cove missed. Got away with one there but should have won this comfortably going by the stats. Needs sorted.

We're starting to annoy/worry me a bit now. Scoring touch has deserted us just as the teams below us have picked it up and started to catch us up/overtake us.

The 9-0 win at Dumbarton was really an illusion that created the impression we were invincible. With lots of away games coming up, this will be a real test of character. In the circumstances this draw creates a base to rebuilt progress.

Be interested to hear the thoughts of those there today.

Undoubtedly a bad run, and we need to get back to winning ways.

Two cup games then we play East Fife in the first of our games in hand: win that and we are back at the top. That should be incentive enough to get the job done.

Fail to win that, though, and my worries will increase sharply.

On a positive note, getting a point from a last second penalty save.

On a negative, that’s 8 points dropped in 3 games.

It’s said we have the best players in the league. Tranent manager said we are a championship team playing in league 1.

Head coach/ manager ?

Wonder if AS is flicking through yellow pages at the taxi section.

We have to win this league, don’t fancy our chances against a championship side in the play offs.
