Pre-season Friendly @ Elgin

My Hellgin City supporting mate, who’s usually pretty well informed in matters of a black and white nature, has been advised we’ll be visiting Borough Briggs on Wednesday July 12th to resume hostilities with our formal rivals.

This date’s obviously provisional, assuming Big Brian has the lads back from pre-season training at the Scripture Union boot camp.

I went to our friendly v Elgin City in 2004. We won 5-0. Borough Briggs is a decent wee ground, it'd be excellent if we drew them in a cup.

it was on teletext that we r hopin 2 play th tinks on th 22nd o july at our place

Elgin City? Ross County? :012:

Games against our lesser neighbours may be a major coup for them but we've moved on from playing these diddy teams. Our appetites can surely only be whetted by playing English Premiership sides or teams from the major European leagues.

We need a pre-season challenge, not a cricket score.

I think pre season need to be a mix of relatively easy games to get match fitness and a few more challenging games to help the mental preparation. Personally lower league opposition isn't necessarily less challenging, we certainly didn't set the heather alight last season against supposed weaker teams.
