  1. I'm all for remembering and even celebrating our pre-merger history...and that includes stuff like LSM etc. However, that page does the memory of Caledonian FC no justice whatsoever. There's nearly 110 years of Caledonian FC and Inverness Thistle FC to be remembered, not just the "merger years". Yes, they are important and they should not be glossed over or ignored....but obsessing over them or hiding away from recognising our true history because of them only serves to deny the current generations the chance to celebrate them. And if I am honest....we're probably all as guilty for getting so drawn into this type of discussion every time it comes up.

  3. What a feckin brilliant "page" - a must read fer all the owder Howden Enders. Dont want to start of another merger debate but it does show how strong the bond was with the old teams - a bit like Wimbledon and MK Dons. For some the wounds run really deep and in the end it is their lives and their decisions - whether it is viewed as being stoopid or incredibly loyal to the cause.

  5. It is fantastic that Billy has hit a rich goal scoring patch. We should enjoy it but not get too carried away - yet. A few games ago his strike rate was pretty poor and many were questioning whether he should be in the side at all. Now he has a strike rate of 15 goals from 30 starts in the league which, whilst not bad, is some way short of the 44 from 74 starts Rooney achieved. It should also be remembered that he is playing as part of a very good side which is creating shed loads of chances. He has therefore got some way to go before bigger clubs will be prepared to pay serious money for him, but I think there are grounds to be optimistic. Last season he was largely wasted by the high ball into the box tactics which left many of us so frustrated last year, but this year we are playing to his strengths. He is a hard working player and a natural poacher. As long as we keep getting the ball low into the box, Billy will run rings round tall defenders and he will continue to score. His current purple patch will end (probably sooner rather than later) but I see no reason why he should not maintain an average of at least a goal every second game. A further 10 goals by the end of the season would be a good return and would put him on a par with the likes of Craig Dargo and Paul Ritchie. So, it's great to see him scoring but let's not pile unrealistic expectations on his shoulders - although a hat-trick against Barcelona in the champions league final next year would be nice.

  6. Because some of what he/she puts into that article is written to put Inverness folk down. Inverness is nearer Faroes than London. Whats the relevence of that. Newcastle is nearer to Inverness than it is to London as the crow flies. Inverness is the most remote city? How do you interperate 'remote'. To me 'remote' is somewhere very difficult to get to. "Due to its location and the sparseness of the population" What because its location is north east Scotland and not Essex? A small city with a population in excess of 60,000 can hardly be termed sparse. Sparse is the population of Wester Ross or Lochaber even. Cant really describe the city of Inverness as sparse. The use of certain words and phrases are there to belittle the city of Inverness. Nothing to do with Whisky battlefields and monsters. The attempt is to belittle the city. That's some chip Alex..................live and let live. It's all in the interpretation.........and the size of the chip. Are you still upset about Culloden? No chips on me mate...........as for Culloden, they got what they deserved. Had they not been so stupid as to listen to yon traitor Campbell they'd have continued the march from Derby and taken London. Incidently I'm 3/4 MacDonald 1/4 MacLeod.
