More than a little unfair. ICT have ZERO debt and any loans in recent years have been provided to assist with cash flow, not to fill gaps between income and expenditure. Monies over and above that have been invested and contributors have received shares and/or services in return....much the same as happens in any business. Whilst football doesn't generally offer any return by way of dividend payments, it does offer a higher degree of community "good will" than you would get in just about any other (for profit) industry I can think of and that in itself holds value. Many other clubs would be satisfied with that situation...i.e. they can balance the books at the end of each financial year...however ICT don't appear to have settled for that. Terry Butcher had the playing budget reduced by £300k last season. Based on the PWC figures and our turnover then that would equate to somewhere between 20% & 25% of his previous budget. The sum is also slightly more than the £250k (ish) additional investment that was required annually to balance the books. This would look like a major step towards the clubs desire to replace the £1 Million (or there abouts) we had in the bank prior to being relegated. It's also very prudent when we don't yet know exactly what the situation is in regards league income for the upcoming season. If we can continue to secure investment year on year then that speeds up the process of putting money back in the bank, if not then there should still be enough room for the club to have an excess to allow it to happen anyway and/or to absorb any reduced league income (should that occur) without the need for any further drastic cuts. Not owning the stadium and having sold other assets is unfortunate and not a situation I like/d or a course of action I ever agreed with...but it is what it is. I don't know if we'll ever own our stadium again or not, but I do know that it's far more likely to happen with the club being run as it is now than it ever has been.

Theres the Antigallican on Woolwich Road (very close to the Valley), not the best pub but a lot of away go there as its the first place you stumble across from Charlton train station. Personally Id recommend The Rose of Denmark a bit further down Woolwich road, has that proper football pub kind of atmosphere, and it welcomes away fans. Ill be at the Rose so it would be great to meet some of you in there, dont worry us Charlton fans are a friendly lot! There is alcohol served inside the ground but youre only allowed to drink it inside the concourses, and necking a couple of beers in 15mins isnt the best way to enjoy a bevvy... We are staying in the Antigallican on the Saturday night. Hope the locals keep the noise down, you know how I need my early nights. :party:

I hope Steve Marsella will watching the game, or will even be there in person to find us some new star players! Interestingly though, one of their players plays in Ligue 1 and has previously played for Nantes. They also have a rather eclectic numbering system. Number 8 and 10 are defenders, number 3's a midfielder and number 2's a striker! Interesting fact though: A Pacific Islander has won the World Cup. Christian Karembeu was in the French 98 squad and was from New Caledonia!

Yeah Darren Bent scored a ton of goals for us, was our top scorer the year we got relegated from Prem, and no surprises that he left just after that happened!

Didn't know Darren Bent was at Charlton! Anyway I'm a Chelsea fan aswell as Caley but yeah I have to admit that was a good time to beat Chelsea under Jose, fair play!

Fair play, its a valid question! I am a follower of Scottish football from afar so I was aware of how well your season has gone, Terry Butcher being the boss an all. I remember the headlines (Super Caley go ballistic...) when you beat Celtic in the League Cup back in 2000. Infact that was probably the first time Id heard of ICT. Since the friendly was arranged Ive been reading up on ICT, had no idea the club was formed from a merger... I guess I probably know as much about ICT as the average ICT fan knows about Charlton. I live in London (20 mins away from the Valley) and I get plenty of Londoners who dont know where Charlton is!

I feckin wish that somebody at ICT could show my feckin wife how to achieve this.
