  1. Hi Caley Jags Together are looking for some people to help out at a water station for the Loch Ness Marathon. The marathon is on Sunday the 29th of September and the station will be running 10am until 4pm, it's located on Dores Road near the entrance to Holm Park just in front of the power sub-station. You don't have to do the full 6 hours! (though you can if you're keen) even just an hour or two would be fantastic. It's just handing out bottles of water and energy gel pouches, nothing too arduous and the runners also really appreciate it. If you'd like to help out please post below and mention what time you could manage. Thanks.
  2. Yeah that's the fella. Good bloke - enjoyed his classes way back then and the Engineering Science stuff with Mr Fitzpatrick. They have a lot to answer for that pair. Never had much time for Chemistry though ;-) Anyway enough off topic.
  3. There would certainly be an increase but I'm not convinced it would be as big as that. Certainly a cup final would be a big "first" for ICT but I think there's a law of diminishing returns here, given that playing the biggest names in Scottish football has become commonplace in recent years. I think it was very diferent in days gone by when, for instance, Thistle played Killie at KIngsmills in 1985 or Caley played Rangers at Telford Street in 1984. These were the kind of opponents to which the Inverness football public had had very little exposure so seeing them up here was a complete novelty. In 1992 even the visit of St Johnstone had Telford Street packed out (and some say a bit more than that!) at a time when Caley only played in front of a few hundred regular supporters. But that's all changed now, although the novelty of a first cup final might well be a significant incentive. The reality is that there always have been glory hunters who only turn out for the "bigger" games in football and there always will be. The more I think about attendance levels at ICT (and elsewhere as well) the more firmly I come to the conclusion that this is a problem with many separate variables contributing to the overall situation.
  4. Is it worth the club conducting a survey or consultation and asking everyone in Inverness and surrounding areas why they do not come to the football and what would make them consider coming, I suspect the pricing structure could be one factor but you may get some other interesting reasons.
  5. Persons who say that the club cannot afford to lower prices when they are doing well on the park, in order to boost attendances, need to offer proof because otherwise they are condemning the club to obscurity and smothering it in negative thought. Give us proof of that statement. Have you seen the financial Books? Have you had a private confidential interview with the Chairman and his Board? I will warrant not. Now is the time to be positive, not negative. A river, taken at the flood, leads on to greatness. Embrace the challenge and don't look back. Life is short. A smile is worth a thousand gurny faces. Set your sights high and even if you don't achieve your goal completely you are going onwards and upwards and, hopefully, inspiring others by your forward-looking thrust. If the pioneers who risked life and limb to colonise America wrung their hands at every footstep and cried the blues at every rest for a pot of coffee in the middle of nowhere, then where would the most powerful country on this planet be today. Answer non-existent. Most of these hardy folks had no money and faced trials and tribulations that none of us could ever imagine in out soft, comfortable and feather-bedded, modern existence. Nor did they have a cell phone to call for help or a TV to remind them of their past more civilised life. They had only one way to go and that was onward and upward or perish.. AARGh! Invest now, oh Great ICT, or ..be condemned by the negative posters to the third division and obscurity...
  6. I wonder how much not being part of a community has affected the support.
  7. It might actually be better NOT to spread the word abut that since being live on TV is actally a disincentive to people to come and pay through the gate. Its an away match Charles. Its a free taster of what ICT have to offer, not the same as being at a live match for the first time but its a step in the right direction. I'll have a word with your mate Tony Hall and see if he can give us a bit of extra coverage on BBC 1 Scotland prior to the game.
  8. I thnk you are absolutley right OCG and I also partly agree with 12th Man in the previous post. I wasn't at the game on Saturday since I was down south but I am following that, with a crowd above 4000 for the first time since the traffic lights were installed, the "system" (or lack of one) couldn't cope. I am also following that there was a larger than average but not huge travelling support trying to access the ground along the A9 and turning 270 degrees through the roundabout in addition to the normal home support and the roundabout plus lights couldn't cope. Certainly the times taken to reach the ground quoted by some other posters on this thread appear eyewatering. I just wonder what it's going to be like when Celtic or Aberdeen visit - or even Couny with just a 90 degree turn off the roundabout. The bigger issue is the siutation in general at the stadium roundabout even outwith match days. I am in absolutely no doubt that it is far more difficult to negotiate that roundabout since these useless lights went in. I don't normally use the roundabout at rush hours but one thing I have noticed is that since these lights appeared there are regular warnings of delays on Radio Scotland traffic updates whch there never were before. The impression I get is that it wasn't particularly broke but some clown somewhere has tried to fix it with these damned lights - and has made it a whole lot worse. It's a bit disappointing that councillors are not jumping up and down about this - possibly because they are completely preoccupied by the fracas and overspend on link road at the other end of town. Between one thing and another, the traffic situation in Inverness is a mess. But at least it will ease a bit quite soon when the tourists once again come to the conclusion that there really is nothing in Loch Ness and clear off home and leave us in peace once more.
  9. You know I've come to the conclusion that the club are doing almost everything they can to increase attendances already. I've come to accept we are a young club trying to grow its support. We already have the u12 free season tickets and free schools tickets. I would like this extended to u16s but I understand that this would cost the club money and they would need to replace this money if it were to happen. It's a long term project so must be given time. This suddenly has become an issue since we've been successful. It's as if we can't find anything else to discuss as everything on the pitch is good at the moment. Personally I think our core support is about 3000 very loyal folk who seem to attend regularly. Let's embrace that and move on.
  10. Chris Hogg played some pre-season games for Gateshead, but didn't get a deal in the end. Hereford gave us Ryan Esson and Marley Watkins, and also took Dan Stratford off our hands, so I know who I'd be supporting!
  11. Lowering ticket prices. I know we have the cheapest tickets in the league, but still, they're not exactly 'cheap'! £15-20 adults £10 concessions Under 12 free That is not unreasonable and would benefit everyone!
  12. Dougal, Dougal you do tread on dangerous ground! What is unglamorous about his name? and what is so wrong with being a local tradesman?? I think you should rephrase that post t!! or just edit it to the last line.
  13. The problem is not that we built a stadium so close to the A9. The problem is the traffic lights on the roundabout. I thought they were temporary whilst work was carried out on the bridge. I've driven to stadium from south when we've been sellout and never experienced the levels of traffic queuing like they were on saturday. Someone blundered there.
  14. A fourth stand for flags and visiting supporters Alternatively we could use any increase in revenue we may get to consolidate the club's financial position and invest in the playing staff in order to get the best product on the park. In that way we at least have some chance of filling some the empty seats we currently have
  15. Aye, 23 v 19. Lennon said last year Hooper was worth £35m. But Billy scored 21% more goals, so obviously he is worth 21% more. That makes £42m.
