In order to follow the French theme and not to upset any feckin Jeggies - how about Calais, Calais, Calais, Calais, Calais, Calais ??
  3. Or maybe a few parents will think....I normally don't go as I can't afford a ticket for me and my son/daughter and I wouldn't go without them, but this offer removes that obstacle? Ok, so it's only one game and I wouldn't disagree that it would be great if U16's got free football all the time....although you also have to look at the risks of an increased number of unaccompanied minors in the stadium....but it's initiatives like this which, if well supported, will encourage the club to look at making it a more permanent arrangement.
  4. I went to Meadowbank last season prior to our semi-final to calm my nerves watching Edinburgh City play Gala Fairydean Rovers. The amount of stoppages there was while players chased lost balls over the running track was nuts! Also, in the second half, the Gala manager watched the match from the sport centre cafe. Very strange!
  5. Great to see this has been re-introduced . The same initiative was in place since the club relocated and it was sad to see it discontinued in 2001. Maybe our paying support would be far larger now if the decision to stop it was not made at that time.
  6. John H had to overcome more than just the reluctance of players to buy into his methods, he had also the negativity and severe criticism to absorb, consider, reject and stick to his guns. It was his way or the highway which I think shows the mettle of the man. -Courage, tenacity and belief. These are all valuable traits in a person. What I did not particularly care for with Mr. Butcher was a sense that he was insincere and a bit too angry on more than one occasion to be altogether believable. This seemed to precede a revelation of unpredictability and a bit of imbalance, perhaps, in his personality. For sure, the way he acted in the final analysis was so self-motivated and such an awful way to treat both the club in general and the top Management as well revealed what he was all about. With John Hughes I get a strong feeling that what you see is what you get so you can predict with more confidence what the actual goals are for him and how he will react in adversity. I shoirt I have confidence and trust in him. For me that means a great deal.
  7. This one isn't seeded. Nairn county away.
  8. The scoreline flattered Dundee United. Apart from a brief opening salvo from them, which led to Erskine hitting the post, they looked disjointed and created very little. That was mostly down to our midfield. Draper's muscle and Vincent's tremendous industry meant we had control of the middle of the pitch all day long, and that meant that Tansey could spray passes to his heart's content. The three of them were absolutely brilliant. Huge credit to the boss today, who tinkered with the tactics. Watkins played so far forward that he was effectively alongside Mckay. The midfield was so narrow that often it looked like a diamond, with Draper at the back and Vincent at the front - and it worked because Hughes knew United's full-backs would be rubbish going forward. It was amusing how we kept goading them to pass to Sean Dillon, safe in the knowledge that he wouldn't threaten us. In contrast, Raven and Shinnie were great going forward, particularly the latter. Given that Meekings hit the post, and that Mckay, Watkins and Vincent all wasted one on ones, we should have thumped them. A great effort.
