The club has not been the most adept at hanging onto our own players during transfer windows, especially when it comes to those out of contract at the end of the season who we have lost for pennies in the window or for nothing come the end of the season. Time for us to use those negative experiences to our own advantage, to cough up a few quid for the remainder of Storey's contract, and to offer him a decent contract with us.2 points

Yes, in the first half things fell for us, despite County looking more dangerous although failing to bury any of their 3 or 4 decent chances. They were making inroads on the right against Tremarco and Wedderburn, who didn't look up to it and was wisely subbed early second half. After recent form, we were all expecting an onslaught in the second half with some nervy defending, but strangely it never came. Caley actually improved, passing much better, dominating the game and unlucky not to score more. Storey was a joy to watch, his ball skills creating options on both flanks, twisting and turning, leaving defenders in his wake. County obviously missed Boyce, but I thought the hype was they were a team. I was actually surprised at how poor they were when they needed to step up. Great result for morale, and for things to come this year.2 points

Just checked through the BBC match reports for league bookings, and according to them Devine is only on 5. Draper is on 6, but his 6th booking was Hamilton on the 30th, so shouldn't appear til this week's suspension list. However, he isn't down as being booked against Aberdeen, and it looks like he was from the highlights. The only thing that is clear is that the whole thing is a confusing mess.1 point

Here is the full article in the Swindon Advertiser where chairman Lee Power talks about the future of Miles Storey THE future of Swindon Town’s two strikers Miles Storey and Michael Smith is still undecided according to chairman Lee Power. The duo have had contrasting experiences away from the County Ground, with Storey having netted seven times during his time at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, while Smith failed to find the goal for Barnsley, having made just one substitute appearance since mid-November. Lee Johnson will not be extending Smith’s stay at Oakwell, with the 24-year-old due back with Swindon next week, while Storey will only stay in Scotland if both clubs can come to a sensible arrangement. “I know Miles would like to stay up in Scotland so we are in talks with them at the moment to see whether we can extend his loan until the end of the season,” Power told BBC Wiltshire, as he looks to reduce the numbers of the squad during the January transfer window. “We have got Smithy (Michael Smith) looking to come back the first week of January. “Until they come back it is very difficult. “We have had people phone up and certain teams want to buy certain people, both Miles and Smith we’ve had clubs on for. “Miles wants to stay there and he has done brilliantly up there. “We’re loaning players and we have to pay the going rate and certain things and that is what we are in negotiations with Inverness over. “Hopefully, if everyone is fair, then he will stay there until the end of the season. “He is out of contract then. We’ll re-engage him again because he is under the age stipulation and then we’ll take it from there.” With Momar Bangoura already being let go by the club, Power has suggested that more will leave before he sits down to sort out who needs bringing in. Share article “We’ll sit down and go through what we need to do then, but you can only do that once you know you have moved on or sold certain other people,” he added. “There were 28 training so it needs to be narrowed down a little bit.”1 point

Now that I agree with especially the give him a contract part. WE are now a top Scottish Club and in order to stay that way we have got to speculate, we don't have to go overboard but we must try to make better use of our main assets than we have in the past. When John took over we saw good contracts given to main players I was hoping that trend would continue but we are being much too hesitant in securing our players. I have no idea whether or not offers have already been made and the players or their agents are stalling hence the hold up. If so we can't do much about that but if it is the Club that is not forthcoming with contracts, then as Scotty says, we are losing good money by giving them away for pennies------------------or less!!1 point

Storey is so good that he is worth shelling out for if that is what it takes. He will repay it handsomely.1 point

I don't think Mutombo is on loan. And you do realise that terminate by mutual consent means that both parties have to agree? May well mean having to pay up Lopez's contract.1 point

Would be a very short sighted decision on the board's part if true. Storey's goals could potentially be the difference between us finishing in the top 4 or languishing in the bottom 6. The differential prize money would be a massive net loss over the money saved on wages. That's before you even take into account the potential money to be made from another deep run in the Scottish Cup. To cap it all off, given his age and potential, if we got him signed up on a 2 or 3 year deal we could easily land a large 6 figure transfer fee for him in the future. If he's available and wants to sign, get him signed up ASAP. This is an absolute no brainer.1 point

To answer the op I think 2016 will bring great change unfortunately. With so many out of contract the team may have to be rebuilt in the summer for the first time in several years. Let's enjoy this team whilst we still have the chance....1 point

Phew. He wobbled a bit but came through in the end. Back to back world titles. Well done Gary Anderson.1 point

I think it's what JV does when we don't have the ball that is impressive. He chased everything down all game yesterday, forcing rushed passes and Fox to miss-kick clearances - this helps to keep the pressure on. When we do have the ball, he's always making intelligent runs to leave holes for Storey and the midfield to exploit. When he has the ball at his feet he wins a good number of free kicks. What he probably lacks is finishing....but let's not forget that he did score the most famous goal in our history!1 point

Can see us retaining the Scottish Cup defeating Celtic 3-2 in the Final after Steven McLean awards a controversial offside winner for Inverness in injury time scored by Wedderburn. The ensuing Sun headline 'Nat King Goal'. David Raven will make a deep run on Britain's got talent, leading to a solo album which will break into the top 10. He'll then face an agonizing decision as Yogi insists he abandon his music career and focus 100% on football, as he did to Scott Arfield at Falkirk. Richie Foran will sign a new 5 year contract. Miles Story will break into the England squad and start dating Katie Price.1 point

Great performance. Would go as far as to say on todays showing there isn't a single County player who would get into our first 11 bar perhaps Jackson Irvine. Pleased to see the manager shake things up tactically and abandon our usual possession game for a more direct approach better suited to a derby game. It was almost as if we carried on where we left off from the League Cup meeting in that respect - the same tactical switch turned the game in our favour that evening. Today was a textbook example of 'defending from the front'. Story and Vincent ran their socks off. Their left back could barely even get within 20 yards of the halfway line before being closed down by Polworth. Gardyne was shut down completely by Wedderburn and Tremarco doubling up, so much so that McIntyre switched him to the left to little effect. When we won the ball we got it forward FAST and had the County in full panic mode. Tanseys long passing was top drawer. Great energy from our midfield constantly getting forward to support the front 2 who held the ball up superbly. In the end it could have been 4 or 5, we were completely dominant. On current form only a matter of time before we leapfrog this lot and Saints IMO. Great start to 2016!1 point

I think Barry Wilson was spot on when he said 2 nil flattered us. We scored the goals in the half we weren't very good in and failed to score in the half we absolutely dominated, County were out of idea's as to how to get through us in that second half though which was to our credit so can't complain. Great atmosphere in the North Stand today, awesome effort from the singing section along from me. Thought Storey put in a mega shift up front, Polworth showed up well again and good performances from our entire back 4. It just wasn't Wedderburn's day today and he rightly came off. Sitting quite pretty in the league now after our recent form and with a game in hand we can put County back where they belong.1 point

Thought we were awful first half. Couldn't string two passes together, and constantly giving the ball away. County had three excellent chances in the first 20 mins. No idea how we ended up going in 2-0 up at ht. Second half much better, especially after Vigurs came on. County ran out of ideas, we could've added another couple with better finishing. Good start to the year. Hopefully we can now put a few wins together.1 point

Excellent result. How satisfying to hold on to a two goal lead, especially against County. Well done to all concerned.1 point

That's 5 games in a row that we have scored 2 or more goals, going 2-0 up in 4 of them. Today we could really do with one of those 90 minutes performances that we've been longing for and perhaps even a clean sheet. Remember them?!1 point

I see Ronaldinho is desperately trying to have one last rendezvous in football with his agent attempting to flog him to clubs in Australia. Christ knows what his wage demands would be, but I reckon we should offer him a deal.......you know, just for the lols and that! Imagine the worldwide press coverage! This'd be the most bizarre football story since Carlos Teves was linked with Limavady!0 points
