  1. Dougal much prefers Lemon drizzle cake, Lemon tea and Gin and bitter lemon to follow, And a pint of bitter from his fridge later on.

  2. Stand up and be Counted A visit to Somerset Park is on the cards for the Caley Jags who are winless in their last five games. The new manager bounce has long gone and the honeymoon period is over. We have been dire of late after defeats to Morton, Arbroath and Airdrie with draws against Partick Thistle & Morton. The report card reads 'must try harder'. Unfortunately we are woefully short of the required standard to compete in the Championship. What's next for us? Unless we sign some decent quality soon, it looks like we will be dragged into a relegation battle. If that happens, it could be something that we will not recover from. Dead wood needs to be removed from this club ASAP, and that includes the hierarchy. Time to shape up or ship out! With neither set of fans looking forward to this one, it could be a long day. Here's hoping something happens or the fanbase will shrink instead of growing. As Robbie Williams once said; "let me entertain you".... Ayr United had Logan Chalmers, Jamie Murphy and Anton Dowds as a triple threat up front. Despite this, Inverness cruised home without having to get out of second gear. Three goals inside the last ten minutes of the first half ended the game as a contest. Two from David Wotherspoon and a penalty from Billy Mckay. Ayr got a consolation penalty in a poor second half, but it was an important three points for the Caley Jags and Big Dunc. As comfortable as it was it was still a poor second half where we should have gone on to put Ayr to the sword. As it was, the result was huge in the context of our season and we can overlook the turgid performance in the light of three excellent points and a step up the table to eighth place with games in hand over some teams. It looked like we were starting to move in the right direction after we beat Ayr United 3-1 at the Caledonian Stadium back on the 11th November. Those games in hand are now gone and the likelihood that David Wotherspoon will also be gone doesn't fill the fanbase with any confidence as he has been our only bright spark recently. Without Spoony we will be in big big trouble. Last Time Out We slumped badly away to Airdrie on 2nd of January going down 2-0. Second half goals from Todorov and Fordyce sealed our fate in a lacklustre performance that ended with Duncan Ferguson being red carded, again. Seems like he still has his naughty boy streak in him, that's two red cards in a month. Last Five Games: L L D D L Ayr United also slumped at the weekend being turned over 3-0 by a rejuvenated Morton. It was the perfect hat-trick from Robbie Muirhead that did the damage. Both feet and his head netting him 13 goals for the season as Morton hang on to the tails of the top four with Ayr just a point above Inverness. 7. Tomorrow’s is (another) big game. A win takes us above Ayr and gives us a bit of relief in our relegation fight before our games against Dundee United and Raith. A draw leaves us treading water but at risk of losing ground when we play the two leaders. A defeat cements our relegation struggle. We need to show more intent in front of goal, and have a shoot on sight policy. The tippy tappy shirt passing stuff we play in the final third is not working so let’s trouble their defence and goalie and look for a win. That said, I’m very nervous about the game.

  8. Well said lizi I always applaud the blue rinse brigade they are always upbeat regardless of the performance and they are there through the good times and bad so I’ve given you a well done Do you lot still dish out the home baking the shortbread was to die for? Dougal

  9. Raith have had a decent amount of cash pumped into them recently which goes some way to explaining their reversal in fortunes.

  10. I don't want to sound harsh but the best thing we can do is, as @Robert says, completely rebuild whenever that is possible and build a team capable of promotion in whatever league we are in and we should look no further than Raith to see that IS possible because they were struggling last season but look at them now, you could say the same about Dundee and Kilmarnock too so it IS possible and we have to trust (I know, I know) the board to support the gaffer with this!

  12. I get the doom and gloom, and have been critical of our recent performances. But let’s turn the clock back to 26 September. We were bottom of the league with 1 point from 6 games and had failed miserably in the League Cup and Challenge Cup. Fast forward to 3 January. We’ve climbed to 8th place and have 18 points from 19 games, with Big Dunc having got 17 points from 13 games. There is progress, but not as much as we’d all have liked, but where would we be now if we’d not brought him in? This season is now all about survival in this league and hopefully laying foundations for a successful 2024/25 campaign. A bit of a run in the Scottish Cup would be a welcome bonus. We need to see who we can bring in this month and the impact they have. We may see some players depart and probably a lot will leave in the summer with a large part of the squad out of contract then. We will start to see what the Manager can bring to the club as the squad changes and hopefully we see enough positive signs to give us confidence we are on the right lines, and that we can build a competitive squad during the close season. It is early days but we also need to see improved performances on the pitch, much more intent when attacking, and good results that ease the current relegation worries.

  13. Actually it was a quite a happy bus home with a lot of laughs! We forgot about the result, had our quizmaster extraordinaire with his footie questions, then a singsong. Home before 10pm so - all ready for Ayr on Saturday - we are nothing if not resilient!

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.
