Duncan Ferguson & Who was in the running
RednBlackComeback replied to bdu98196's topic in Caley Thistle
Oh well, predictable background ! One win in 18 matches for Forest Green prior to their relegation !!! . . . sounds like just what we need !! From BBC Duncan Ferguson has left his role as Forest Green Rovers head coach after less than six months in charge. The former Everton assistant manager and player was appointed in January with the club bottom of League One. They were subsequently relegated to the fourth tier in April, with Ferguson overseeing one win in 18 matches. The 51-year-old had signed a five-year contract with the Gloucestershire side and had talked about his and the club's long-term plans after their relegation. "It's been a privilege to work with Dunc these last few months and this was a very difficult decision to make," said Forest Green owner Dale Vince. "I'm grateful to Dunc for joining us in such difficult circumstances and for all of his hard work at the club. "But I feel this is overall the right decision for everyone and I wish Dunc well in his next coaching role. We are parting as friends. You can't ask for much more than that." Ferguson scored 73 goals for Everton as a player in two spells between 1994 and 2006 and was also capped seven times by Scotland. He joined the Toffees coaching staff in 2014 and twice acted as caretaker manager before leaving the club last summer to pursue his first managerial position. While Forest Green returned straight to League Two after one season in the third tier, Ferguson had been talking about rebuilding for next season - with three players brought in so far this summer transfer window. Newly appointed chief executive, Marcus Reynolds, also spoke about the club needing "stability and progress" going forward. They open the new season at home to Salford City on Saturday, 5 August. -

Bound to be someone with a rangers background. -
Banner for Gardiner ?

We never really looked like scoring. A utd winner seemed inevitable even when they went down to 10 men!

What a fantastic decision to award him a 2 year contract! Who was responsible for that and how much has it cost the club? One more head, at least, needs to roll!
-
I'm finding myself in agreement. Talks a great game but what has he actually achieved, other than alienate a lot of local businesses from wanting anything to do with the club after the concert fiasco? All that orange kit and 12th july nonsense was the final straw for me, the club should never have let itself be lowered to that level! Seems like the chairman has given him free rein of the club to run it as he likes? Might his final act have been, what's becoming blatantly obvious, the mad decision to award dodds another 2 year contract?

First half we looked comfortable. Second half was dire. Felt like we were just waiting for the equaliser, and no surprise when it came.

Just noticed the DRoss comment !

Well done on a good-looking and thorough presentation. Just a shame that only 316 people completed the survey. No doubt the club will view this as unrepresentative and ignore it!?
-
So did the club extend the loyalty price until the 12th !? sake!
-
I get the feeling that might have been the plan?!?!
-
Was it a conscious decision by the club to release such a kit on such a date? Really have no time for this kind of sectarian nonsense, personally!
-
Now that I like . We've finally managed to get the 'c' out of ICTFC and the eagle has flown, leaving just the thistle and ITFC
-
Disgusting way for the club to behave . What is going on in there?

I think the last two posts above sum up the game perfectly. Shaw through the middle didn't work, and he seemed to be exhausted early doors? Though I can see the thinking behind putting him there with his height maybe giving the celtic central defenders something to think about, but he really had nothing to work with! Special mention to the singing section. . . . they were awesome throughout Just goes to show that this west terrace project should be put to bed and the singing section moved into a completely unallocated section B (or wherever) of the north stand. That would create the best possible atmosphere at home. Mon The Jags !

Why the secrecy? Was the same in 2015. Seems crazy that the club won't tell us. It will only put people off trying to get tickets cos they'll likely take the view that tickets are either sold out, or so few sold that there won't be a good atmosphere! It'll be clear to see on the day exactly how many tickets we've sold so I really don't understand the club's stance on this?
-
I faced the same issue. Seems the only way to book kids tickets for the bus is in person at the ticket office, as I did today? To be fair to the staff, when I was in there was a queue so no chance for them to answer any calls.

Tonight was the story of our season. Didn't turn up for half of it, then when we did finally get ourselves into a position to progress we left it too little too late ! Most disappointing thing is that this was the 'easiest' Championship for years and we've finished 6th!! Time for major changes methinks (though that'll be happening anyway as most of the squad are out of contract). Bit of a worry as to where we go from here. We don't have the means to spend our way to promotion so need to get lucky with new signings/new management? Don't think I can take another season of some of the square-passing pedestrian turgid pish we've been served up this season. We must be more imaginative and much faster. Really hope we don't play like we did first half tonight in the cup final, or it could be extremely embarrassing!

Can you imagine: we reach the cup final, and win it on penalties! We reach the playoffs and make to the playoff final. We win that on penalties too, against ross c#unty ! Nah... me neither

10.04 'inverness caley' . . . Dear god ! I'm sure even the caley fans on here would agree that's wrong on so many levels!! ffs !

Even if Dodds was removed, I don't trust the powers that be to make the next managerial appointment! It would likely be another 'jobs for the boys' recruitment!

Same. I've had to change my mentality to attend nowadays. . . .now I expect a defeat and anything else is a bonus!
