  1. Just saw on Sky Sports that Robbo is up for the Motherwell job. Think he could do a decent job for them.
  2. Yes...i too have seen the same. You think of a beheading to be a quick and precise exercise....but the one i saw, was pretty horrendous, bleak and sickening. the poor buggers probably drown (on blood in their lungs) before the whole thing is over. Its an eye opener. Ad quote happily hang the people that do this!
  3. so how do taxi fares work K? is it distance or time the meter works by? And DC......is that ?3 you mention for the day ticket the price for an adult or does it apply to everybody?
  4. Without wishing to appear a complete ****, there is the old...freedom of choice argument. NOBODY is forcing the taxi drivers to do the job! Likewise nobody is forcing you to take a taxi, you could always walk.. I'm only pointing out the costs involved in running a taxi, because until I became a cabby, I had no idea how much it cost to put and keep a cab on the road and that in a nutshell explains why fares are the cost they are. Well.....unfortunatley Kiltarlity..... there are no other practical options available to me to get shopping home, so am kinda stuck with having to get a taxi! And as far as the prices go....am pretty much nigh on 100% positive that all the running costs/conditions apply to other taxi drivers accross the country, yet, in my experience (and a few others on this thread) you get a lot further for your money in these places. Maybe, taxi drivers in Inverness are now getting the real picture of how life driving a taxi is in a city. As i say.....up until a few years ago....they made quite a good living from it, when they had things stacked in their favour.

  6. In my opinion.....public transport here is simply way too expensive. Lets take me getting home in a taxi from Tesco with my shopping. It equates to a 15 min walk. (or maybe 3-4 mins in a vehicle)If i was to get the Bus....its about ?1.10. Taxi costs 5 TIMES AS MUCH! I disagree with you Kiltarlity about prices here being "average"......or mayybe it is just by sheer fluke that ANY other place i have ever got a taxi.......I have got a LOT further for LESS money than i do here! As far as the number of taxis in sneck...from a customer point of view...it can only be a good thing, but, i know all the longer established taxi drivers are hacked off, but thats because.....they had it soo good for so long in the past.
  7. in saying that...its getting close eh. Need to get tix sorted....normally have them by now...but going to see Bruce Springsteen and u2 thissummer......so been trying to get that organised.
  8. Sure am looking forward to footie again Birdy. Lost my passion in the SPL.....so much so....i think i only bothered with about 3 games in 5 seasons. But...there were other circumstances too....like my Kids and Price etc. But that aside, it just lost its appeal for me. Am fooking buzzing about this coming season tho! As for Bella......ad use up two of them days you got saved up. I love my Belladrum weekend
  9. Dont worry birdy...that call will probably get made....but...not yet...as the way things are suit me for now...untill after belladrum festival. She should be ok about it...as i have taken the wee ones a few times so that her and her man could go abroad on hols etc...not to mention social functions (ie...wedding last weekend) And not ONCE in 6 years have i never had the wee ones when i was due to have em. So...think its time I called in a wee favour. as i say...the wee ones still get the same amount of time wi me...just I get a wee bit of dad time too
  10. Dont get me wrong Birdy.......IF need be...the kids would come first....they always will....its just, with the way it is, i have every other weekend to myself, so, as with the original question, should i change it to get a wee bit more footie (including 3 games vs county as opposed to the one at the moment) Just means changing the weekend i have them, as nothing is writ in stone.....as they have been with me the last 3 weekends in a row. So its not like am putting the footie ahead of my kids. Just means i get a couple of extra weekends to look forward to things i enjoy if i did change, as well as have my kids as normal.
  11. They just seem to jump from one financial mess to another. Maybe the whole concept of another team from Lothian is doomed or cursed. First it was Ferranti Thistle, DOOMED.....then became Meadowbank THistle, DOOMED and then became Livingston FC, seemingly CURSED
  12. Neither of them have really shown much interest in football ever...other than claim they support the same team as me Plus....if i iwent....ad have to scrounge a lift wi mates, and there would be no space for the wee ones at the end of the day...they wouldnt miss out on time with me, as it would remain every other weekend they stay...as well as holidays and the occasional bonus when mum has a social event.
  13. I have just gone throught this seasons fixtures. I have gone through all the weekneds i have my kids staying and discounted them games. So...as it is.....al make 9 home games (and one County away game) So question is...put im my position..would YOU change the weekend you have the kids meaning you still get 9 home games, But two are against County and also will make one away County game, or leave things as they are?
  14. Aye......wonder how much our highly experinced DoF played in the whole Marius debacle
  15. I like this bit..... Mr Sutherland's drive and determination saw his firm Tulloch built two new stands in 45 days to enable Caley Thistle to meet the SPL deadline and take up their place in the top flight in 2004. Amazing that...considering his company took about 15 months to fit a kitchen in my old work! :)
  16. Listening to a real blast from my teenage past....Big Country Steeltown album. Think am gonna start collecting Big Country and The Silencers stuff again. Some Braw Scottish moosic
  17. Ad go for a laptop and I would just go to PC World. Cheaper and better choice. Ad avoid acer tho. In Saying that, Dell do quite good offers too.
  18. Bit of a debate goinging on on the inverness Courier website regarding the guy who set fire to the school (see comments at the bottom of the story) http://www.highland-news.co.uk/news/fullst...to_public_.html Bottom line....it was a deliberate act of arson! Stress is no defence for breaking the law IMHO!
  19. he is in a no win situation. because...............way back in the 80s....Aberdeen had a run of four years relative sucsess. Problem is...because of that...Aberdeen fans reckon they are a world footballing power, and refuse to accept their real position in the food chain!
  20. been to hampden a few times before...but it was someone else driving. Pressures on this time. We will Probably just hop on the train to mount florida
  21. Thanx Maimie. As long as we get there, my mates sis will drive in to glasgow and collect us after the gig...and take us back to the car. Is Hampden easy to get to by car then? I have sat nav...but get a bit stressed driving in big cities!
  22. Can anyone tell me how easy Hampden is to get to by public transport. I am going to see U2 and Bruce Springsteen gigs there, and was curious if the stadium is well served outwith footie match days? I dont fancy driving to the stadium...so will prob park at my mates sis house in Glenboig, then catch train into Glasgow. After that...am stuck! If anyone can give me info...cool.....and even ball park figures for costs from Glasgow City Centre to Stadium would be even better.
  23. Well...you can get a rover ticket here...for ?7 for 7 days unlimited bus travel within inverness...so thats quite good i guess!
  24. ?2.60 for a 2.5mile trip :004:
  25. Lets reserve judgement untill we see the guy in action. I think Tel has a good eye for talent! I never saw much of Vigurs....but he very much got mixed reviews from my mates, who are/were season ticket holders at TCS. The views ranged from Ok to pish!
