Ah yes - tattoos. Chaps used to come home from National Service and impress the **** outa the burds with them. Seafarers used to be heavily tattooed; at least the ones who had been anywhere. The secret is that Brewster is a one-team manager and ICT is that one team. The only time I can think of when he wasn't good for us was when his mind was on the DUFC job, just before he left.

Interesting stat., and there's always the chance that Darren Fletcher could play for Man U. It seems that the top players in the English PL are generally foreign and the top teams are largely populated by foreigners which is probably why the English national side is so pish. A country with as big a population as England has should have a much more successful team than they do. Almost as bad a record as Spain! They're just as bad at producing managers too - see how far down the EPL table you have to go before you find a team managed by an Englishman. As the table stood on Sunday morning, I believe Portsmouth in 7th place is the top team with an English manager.

Despite my hatred for both Celtic and Rangers, I realise that it's usually to our advantage if they win in an SPL match, unless of course it's against us. And I always like to see Gretna lose, for some inexplicable reason!

It's because all ICT supporters used to be Aberdeen supporters, as Aberdeen was the nearest "big" team when Caley and Thistle were in the HL. And we're no longer in the same league as Ross County. Or Elgin City.

I hate these Rangers supporters' threads on our forum. Suppose there'll be one from the other side tomorrow if Rangers lose. I hate Celtic supporters' threads too. :008:

The best mascot we had was Johnny the Fox, sponsored by the pub of similar name. I think he only made one appearance, against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup after we knocked Celtic out in 2000, but he was a star. At half time he strode purposefully towards the away end and wiggled his arsh at the Aberdeen supporters, winding them up terribly. The stewards hastily ushered him away, thus preventing a pitch invasion and a riot and a dead fox! :015:

KoB - I was at that Proclaimers gig too. They were the support act for some other band (from Fort William I think) and ended up playing 3 encores. There was something about them! I must have met you too beachcomber - I was at that Theatre of Hate do at Aviemore - brilliant it was. Thin Lizzie (Ice Rink), Errol Brown of Hot Chocolate (Eden Court), Wolfstone (think it was Ice Rink), Nazareth (Ailsa Suite - Ice Rink). Also some excellent local bands over the years - can't remember many names but Vizion, As The Crow Flies, BIRO, and Shoe spring to mind. And some pish local bands like No Reaction and just about every band that turned up for a heavy metal night in the Hay Loft about 15 years ago. I made a note in the diary to see Fish in September this year at the Ironworks and forgot all about it. Ironically I was out catching fish the day I should have been watching Fish. Did anyone here go?

Did they not do something similar the last time the two sides met, in Lithuania. I seem to remember them equalizing through a cheatin' divin' penalty and holding on for a 1-1 draw in a game Scotland should have won. Edit: It wasn't the last time they met (about this time last year) - it was a few years ago.

In my humble opinion, that's probably the best way to deal with attention-seekers!

This is going back a bit, but I'm afraid I do remember a Jags league win at Telford St. It must have been mid or late 60's and Caley were flying high - played 13, won 13. Thistle were struggling near the bottom of the league as I recall and an easy 2 points was expected, but they managed to win 0-2. Can anyone verify all that? ****, I was near in tears on the way home - absolutely devastated! :019:

I think it was the very last Caley v. Thistle game before the merger - evening kick-off and I was flying out to the Far East the next day to do a few months work. So I knew it was the last Caley game I'd ever see. Billy Urquhart headed the only goal in the second half. Come to think of it, I was at the Distillery End at the time. Must have been in the Howden End in the first half. And the occasion was marred by the fact it was a pretty pish game! That's how I remember it anyway.

Football songs, of the sort sung by footballers and released as a single, are a curious blight on modern society. They are unanimously awful, yet despite their consistent awfulness, clubs keep making them and supporters keep buying them. Curious!

Anyone remember the euphoria that greeted Brewster's arrival last time round, when Robbo had left us in the lurch? I seem to remember we weren't very far up the table then either!

I've said it once and I'll say it again - whether or not you approve of his appointment, we need to get behind our team and give the new manager and players our full support. (Brewster's appointment confirmed today.)

TM4TJ - as I get older I find it gets harder to convince myself that it was all a dream, although, believe me, I tried this morning! On further reflection, I was very disappointed with Dundee United. Despite this great start they're supposed to be having to the season, they were absolute pish yesterday. And then we presented them with 3 goals. It's no less painful today. :009: :019:

It was a tale of two half-time team talks - ours was clearly less effective. I saw some real quality in blue and red today - we dominated the 1st half and were all over them. Niculae, Black, Cowie, Tokely and Bayne were spectacular. What a pity we didn't score! Still, I felt that a goal would come if we kept playing like that. Second half though - well I didn't see the 1st goal because a wide wumman with an armful of pies was passing in front of me looking for her seat. The goal seemed to knock us off our stride. Giving away the penalty was unfortunate - I thought Fraser had it covered and that tackle was unnecessary. The second penalty shouldn't have been awarded. Am I the only one who thought Russel Duncan was gash today? The number of times he gave the ball away! Anyway, the quality IS there. All we need is a decent manager to manage it. With Brewster we had a team that was very difficult to beat. That'll do me!
