How would a bigger league give teams leeway to reduce ticket prices? It wouldn't at all! 16 team league, as has been said clubs would be losing about £1m. We would have 8 fewer games than we do now so if anything clubs would have to slash budgets which affects the level of player that can be brought in. Ticket prices would not reduce on top of this. Same goes for an 18 team league where we would be playing 4 less game. How on earth does that give clubs leeway to reduce prices?? And as for this myth that clubs will suddenly start playing entertaining football, what a load of nonsense. The standard will be exactly the same in Scotland, you won't suddenly see Barcelona esq style football in the SPL. The amount of meningless games would be huge and that is the opposite to what is needed. Meaningless games aren't exciting bringing in bumber crowds, there has to be something at stake to draw in the crowds. Having 20 meaningless games a season for some teams is not the way forward unless you want to kill Scottish football alltogether.

That kind of backs up what I said! For that you would have to go into the second division as things stand just to make 18 teams. Then who...6th placed Airdrie in division 2 and two teams at the bottom of the 3rd in Queens Park and Clyde. As for the teams who would then be challenging to get up we just do not have clubs of a decent size to sustain it so meeting any ambition would start killing off clubs. As the league stands right now Cowdenbeath would be top of a new 1st division. A club who got 500 at their last home game and there are plenty more of their size who would be near the top end of a 1st division. and it is not the same as 'every one else' as the cowdenbeths, Stirlings and Brechins are never battling for promotion to the SPL at the moment as they are not big enough clubs to reach that level, have an 18 top league and then they will be among the next level of team. Not to mention the tedious amount of meaningless games that would be created, we don't have the level of european places to make it anywhere near interesting outside the top 5, bottom 5 and no reduction of a 'fear factor' will lead to silky football with the standard of player in Scotland. Crowds also drop in meanigless games so that would affect the league as well. The games need to be worth something to bring the crowds out, that is shown in football every year with relegation threatened teams seeing a rise in crowds for big games.

Firstly I don't know how to multi quote but to Tug- It is not the time frame it is the losing 8 games from the season. 4 home game per team, it doesn't generate enough games in that respect. And before someone mentions an expanded league cup, groups, just look at the crowds in the competition just now, even in derbys. It would never make up the shortfall. As for not having enough good enough team, I ws refering to an 18 team league and we definitely don't. For a start you would have to get rid of any stadium requirement whatsoever as at the moment you could only make 18 teams that meet the current requirements by going down to the 2nd division and then into the 3rd. At the moment we could just about get away with 18 teams but then we would have Cowdenbeath, Morton, Brechin etc at the top of the 1st battling to get into the top league. There is just not enough quality and enough big clubs to sustain an 18 team league. Also there would be so many meaningless games in an 18 team league that it would be so dull. At the moment only 1-3 qualify for Europe, it would create far to many dead games in the middle of the league. The only options that will be seriously considered I think are 10, 12 or 14 team league.

We don't have enough good teams for an 18 team league and 16 does not give enough games. Also some people keep going on about taking away the 'fear factor' and without fear of relegation then teams will open up etc etc. That is just rubbish imo, you will not suddenly see silky football in Scotland without a fear of relegation, the standard will be the same. Also if there is less pressure with more teams that will be because it will create many more meaningless games. The football will be of the same standard but the crowds will drop if the games have no meaning. You see this when a team is in danger of relegation, crowds increase, they increase where the is something at stake not for meaningless mid table game where teams have nothing to play for. The only viable option for change would be to move to a 14 team league or stay as we are but introduce playoffs at the bottom of the league/top of first.

They get them made quick enough after the split so there has been planty of time.

Thought it was better than it has been in recent years. But Macavenie jokes have past their sell by date, maybe using 1 setch of him a year is just about ok. They need to freshen up the characters and make it more relevant to Scottish football today and the year that has past. Macavenie isn't even a Scottish football personality anymore and anyone under 30 probably can't remember him as a footballer anyway!

Do you think Rooney will sign a new contract?
Joe DiMaggio replied to KingBeastie's topic in Caley Thistle
4th place only gets into the Europa league this season if 2nd or 3rd place wins the cup or if 1st place wins it against 2nd or 3rd. If the league winners win it against someone below 4th then the runners up take that place. Just have to make sure we finish 3rd and win the cup this season! -

I think he owes it to the club to sign a new deal, Then if a club is after him then they would have to pay a fee for him, helping the club and if he keeps going the way he is there will be plenty of clubs in the championship willing to pay a fee. Walking away for free is of no benifit to the club which has helped him get to this level. -

He had a bad game, wow. Every player has them now and again where nothing works for them. At least he got it out of the way in a game we drew. Here's hoping he's fit for saturday because this is a game where we really need Hayes as he could do serious damage to a team like St. Mirren and could be a match winner.

Jeezo, I must have missed all this despite not being far away from this. Doofer, the guy with the flag and his mate were on the wind up. Flagman was just conforming to the "hun lite" stereotypeand the odd surreptitious nazi salute kinda gave it away. I'd suggest that that flag has other, almost universally understood, connotations in the central belt but hey, If you give it, you gotta take it. I don't think that "ten quid in tesco's" was a terrible thing to shout at some rotund ned in a vomit yellow trackie top. We need to chill people, it's that time of year. Not one person has said it was!!

Please don't try to sing that!! It's awful!!

No big name player from any league would go on loan over thier close season. It wouldn't keep them fresh at all, it would burn them out. No club would allow it and no player would even consider doing it. And don't use Beckham as an example becasue the MLS has a shorter season and longer close season than the leagues in Europe and he was only doing it to try and force his way into the england side. It is a totaly different scenario in Europe.

What is the case it says Niculae has against the club in Inverness Sheriff Court ?? Is this on a different matter?

Why am i fishing? Check the photo's on the Caley Nostalgia site, Telford St was festooned in union jacks at home games and you still get a few on display these days IHE claims they were the Celtic of the North now thats what i classify as fishing!!!! IHE also claims to be a so called Caley Animal however if thats the case how does he not get even one mention on Mantis's site A fantasist who probably was a regular at Parkhead back in the day Today we will see a capacity crowd at the Caledonian stadium where there will be as many Ork fans in amongst the home supporters but there will be NO trouble due to the underlying togetherness of both supports I personally will be paying close attention to all supporters around about me and i will be reporting any orks to the closest constable to get them ejected dougal I did think before that you got a hard time on here but after this im 100% sure you are a wind up merchant and bring nothing to this site so would happily see you banned. Saying that 'there are still a few union jacks on display' at ICT is a total lie of mark wright standard. If you are a season ticket holder as you 'claim' then you will know that is rubbish. Please at the next home game can you take a couple of pic of these 'few' union flags and post them up...

I gave a scarf to a sports bar in Charlotte NC which they put up on their wall back in 2004. Wonder if it's still there.

Think it's quite clear he just made this whole story up. He was prob never even in Glasgow to start with

He has plenty of football/english defence league/anti muslim in one magnets as well. Saying that this ones not bad http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Inverness-CT-patriotic-saltire-fridge-magnet-/260702210805?pt=UK_SportsMemorabilia_Football_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item3cb3100af5 Wont be buying anything off him though.
-
He doesn't need to say a thing. Im 100% sure he would not be interested in the job and would not leave ICT for Aberdeen so there is no need for him to publicly say he doesn't want a job that he has only been linked to be a couple of journalists. Also 'he will have the money to do what he wants here anyway.' Don't kid yourself!! Butcher will never get money to do what he wants!

All the fans that came down on the train at 09.18 were on the 19.41 train home! Also says he phoned at 7.30pm saying he was going to have to take his dad to hospital but still somehow made it down to london after this...
