Diddy "Diddums." Poor lad, come here to old Scarlet and get a wee hug. You seem to have a bad case of the dementia tremens -that will hurt when you wake up from the torpor and pain. There you go, feeling a wee bittie better already I can see. But you do appear to have some staying power and we might be able to make a good ICT fan of you yet if you just stiffen your resolve and come back again before we win the Scottish cup this year. The way things are going after a very hairy start to the season augurs well for the grand finale. Wanna come along to Hampden for a classy day out? Anyway, hasten back , But now it's time for the sack and a wee restful night. And tomorrow you can wake up refreshed and over yer terrible fright. Cheers the noo to you and say no to more "boo-hoo."

Wow! Brilliant success story. You must be very proud, Alex.
-
Thank you, Alex. Just the information I need to pursue something important. As for costs I suppose it depends on how wealthy daddy is or how much the parents have put aside over the years to pay for their children's education. A prevalent rumour here is that you wont get into medical school anyway unless your papa or mama is, or has been, a doctor. But whether that refers to privilege or the fact that few ordinary people can afford the rather lengthy training periods involved without a wealthy parental background is open to question.

O K Mantis.. Mea Culpa. But, is University education in Scotland still free? Please advise at your leisure.

Well ,Barry would perhaps not be a bad assistant to our coach. Wealth of experience in both Britain and overseas. Knows where the goal is and is not afraid to go for it. Eh?

Inverness - the City of today
Scarlet Pimple replied to IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER's topic in Olde Inverness
Charles--er, what's a jakey? And, secondly, would you call your sarcasm withering , salty or just dictatorially dynamic? Either way, I must admit to it being trenchant, uncompromising, probably spot-on and.....it will have little or no effect since Councils are Councils the world over. -
Well this little recent speech by Mr. Doncaster should convince a few people that any delusions they ever had about local prestige and entertainment and fairness is like living in dreamland. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35557830 Football the world over ( especially in the dynamic money leagues such as the Premiership in England) now is, like it always has been for quite some time now, about MONEY and little else. Money can be such a pervasive , insinuatingly selfish and de-grading energy force that it can intimidate and seduce almost anybody except those with very strong principles.....or a very deep and abiding love for their chosen entity. And yet, some will continue to argue that , even in today's world, it has it's uses? Er. who is right? If Doncaster is right, then football is going to be in decline all over the globe because he is pointing out that it will cease to be all-inclusive from the tiny toddler to the Messi's and his bosses of this realm. Gawd help us, Charlie Brown...........! Comments ?

Naelifts--another somewhat controversial situation over here concerning free education prompts me to ask about what happens in the U/K? Education in Canada , and the States, is free only up to graduation from High School. After which, as far as I know, you have to have a rich dad or you work as much as possible because it's all fee-paying thereafter if you choose to go on to University. Grants are probably available to students, though, from private institutions and often students who are good at sports can qualify for bursaries in US Campuses if U.S. Universities want them for their sport prowess and the ongoing prestige of the particular University viz-a-viz their prowess in the sports arena. Going to University in Scotland was free when I left the Academy in 1955. Is it still completely free or what? Government sponsored assistance to aspiring students after they leave school is, or should be, a given for all children because it's an investment in the future of the country as well. That's something that I wholeheartedly agree with and in a T.V. documentary that I saw recently it was stressed that some countries are now definitely seeing this expenditure of tax dollars as being vital to their future progress and growth. To me it's a no brainer but unwise expenditures by Governments stymies that common sense idea since they simply then don't have the funds available. e.g. the United States who, just a few years ago, used trillions (that's right not billions but trillions) of tax-payer dollars to bail out the proliferators of the ruinous ponsie schemes pandered through the New York Stock Exchange and the CITY (Wall Street) brokerage houses and banks who defrauded the average citizen right, left and center but completely escaped jail just because the Government panders to the rich and famous and cried crocodile tears into their hankies that "The City is too big to be allowed to fail." Meanwhile, a huge number of people lost their houses and defaulted on their mortgages, house prices fell drastically to absolutely historically low levels together with bankruptcies and misery everywhere in the United States and ,back at the ranch, approximately 85-90% of the overall wealth in America is (i.e. continues to be) owned by a very low percentage of people, perhaps 5-8%. of the total voter population. i.e. Same old, same old. And that's why the brutally frank Donald Trump and down-to-earth barn-stormer slike Bernie Sanders (neither being pro-establishment entities) are looking more and more likely to dump the Hilary Clintons and the Jeb Bush's in favour of a complete sea-change in American politics since anger and resentment has risen to the surface of the volcano politic and is about to explode in a fiery crescendo IMHO. Ops, sorry, guys and mods -a bit off topic but ...watch this space.

Scottish Cup 2016 - our defence of the trophy!
Scarlet Pimple replied to Sneckboy's topic in Caley Thistle
Yeah! I guess so...but if it was nor for T V I would have been unable to watch last year's Scottish Cup Final--a thrill never to be repeated. -
You know ,Naelifts, since my son died in an ambulance a few years ago and the attendants managed to get his heart going again before they arrived at the hospital,I am in awe of such highly trained and dedicated people. Shortly afterwards he underwent a 6 hour heart operation which the surgeon told me would have cost $500, 000 in the United States. We pay $135 Can. per month to fund our Medical Services Plan but in the STATES you can go bankrupt from huge medical bills. Can you advise me whether all medical bills are still free in the United Kingdom? I believe you have a good Health Service there ?

Wouldn't mind having Gardyne of County in our team..... ?

Here, in North America, a favorite strategy of the National (ice) Hockey League teams, if losing by one or even two goals close to the end of the game, is to "pull" their goalie thus allowing an extra player be sent onto the ice in his place. This can be very risky, of course, but since they are losing anyway by at least one or two goals it often pays huge dividends. And if they can scrape a draw then they can win the match in extra time. EEEEEH! It's sometimes very exciting stuff. Especially when the winning team hits the puck down the length of the ice and the puck , instead of going into the empty net, hits the post and bounces off ...ha!

Wanderer--you are right about that. Smile ! From Beautiful British Columbia.. Rainy but cool. In the East of Canada they have been getting storms and huge snow falls. 30-40 cm. per day. Poor Scotty had to do some digging recently I think.

Imagine stumbling on this gem of a thread. I was 11 years old yet I knew Bob Galloway (tall and fair haired). Peter MacKinnon lived next door to me since he married the daughter of Mr Gibson my next door neighbour. Peter was a humble and kind man whose worth, even then ,I recognised and endeared him to me. I was a bit of a lippy squirt at that age but he never took any kind of offence at anything I might have said and , to be honest, he was a bit of a hero to me. All the other names are familiar in my memory banks e.g Frankie MacBeath was a right winger ,I think, and had got great ball control and elegance in his play. Oh my ,what memories for a wee squirt to still have. Toothless Bobby bolt who played centre half for the Rangers for years and his son ,Robert ,who also was at Caley for a short while before moving on. I know of one player who was a dynamic one who moved to Elgin City because the transfer money for his pocket was 50 pounds. Some of our modern players could remember this with gratitude remembering that their progress was a great advancement to what happened monetarily in these days. Thank you for posting these video. Sincerely appreciated by an older fella in red.

Help--my writing/posting box has lost all headings so no spell checker, no emoticoms , nothing. Can someone please help an old codger out of a deep hole ...."merci buckets". How do I reset the message to type. to submit box headings? Also, at the first access to the site a few moments ago, I was told that I could not give a reputation vote to Charlie Bannerman and another nice, new poster. Then it relented and the next time I tried it, it worked. ....? GLITCHES needing a wee look, Scotty, perhaps? What with one thing and another the old Pimple is bemused...OMG no smiley to be seen. Ha!? -

Thanks Rig--I'd never have been able to see it was it not for you posting this. Highlights no longer appear on our sites and don't play in Canada due to the BBC's strict restrictive policies.- 61 replies
