Whilst I agree that Rooney was not worthy of MotM it's a bit harsh to slate him for his poor play especially when trying to win headers against someone the size of Mensing. It would have made more sense to try and play balls in behind Hmailtons brute of a CB instead of lobbing them up in the air where he was easily going to win the dual. Basically I think you are being harsh on Rooney in an area where it was more the service he received that was to blame as opposed to anything he did.
  2. Yes Accies time wasted, yes they feigned injury but the biggest disappointment was ICT. We were toothless. Absolutely toothless. Monstrous goal from Imrie after about 40 seconds. No keeper was saving that although I would like to have seen him closed down before getting the shot away. He was given too much time and space. After that Accies defended and defended in numbers as you would expect and we couldn't open them up. We appeared to run out of ideas pretty quickly and I can't think of a clear cut chance that we created in the first half. In the second we threw everything at Hamilton but again failed to carve out a real goal scoring opportunity. Rooney placed a shot wide after turning his man (he was given as offside but I really don't think he was not that it made much difference) and Nick Ross fizzed a ball across goal with no one racing in to put it away. And that was as close as we got. Rooney looked to have a good claim for a penalty waved away. Hamilton looked dangerous on the break and Hasslebank could trouble defences with his pace. A few players looked well off the pace. Proctor looked ridiculously shaky at RB and Rooney got no change out of Mensing. We all saw from the first 5 minutes that he (Mensing) was winning all the headers against Rooney so why not try and change things around? It all seemed a bit odd. Both Tokely and Munro were troubled by Hasslebanks pace and my heart was in my mouth when he went to ground in a tangle with Tokely. I had flashbacks to the game against Falkirk. Just a bad day at the office for everyone really. No one seemed to be on the same wavelength. A hugely frustrating afternoon. Hamilton seem to have the "Aberdeen Voodoo Sign" over us these days. These are the games we should be looking at winning and given the build up to the game with Accies injury issues you had to think that it would be our time to finally beat Hamilton in the SPL but ICT never seem to do well when they are favourites and today continued that trend.

Disagree. With Hayes because he is so fast he can running at a left back on their strong side and then instantly cut inside and attack their weak defensive side with pace. After this he doesn't need to check back. However Hamilton were being clever. They had two men on him, one trying to force him outside and the other covering in behind the first defender trying to block off any attempt to cut back in.

What did he do at the final whistle?
  5. RiG replied to BA's topic in Caley Thistle
So it has and I looked right at Ross Ps post as well! Obviously still to early... Hopefully McCann and Proctor can make it.

SSN had McCann and Sanchez (I think) having late fitness tests and Tokely was out with a knee problem.

You should be confident as that is the reason why they were doing it. Picking up on Jagsters point certainly any time I have heard Imrie interviewed since he left us he has always been positive about ICT which is nice :)

When Imrie was with us Hamilton fans chanted "Die Imrie die!" at him during the course of the game.
  10. Celtic Wonder what Dornoch Caley thinks of Lennon now. In his only important games of note in his career as Celtic manager he has failed to register a win. Out of the Scottish Cup to Ross County and papped out of both the Champions League and the Europa Cup. In the league he has so far this season beaten two teams with a combined transfer budget of around ?0. So far it would appear that Lennon is on the way to eclipsing Celtic greats like Barnes and Mowbary
  11. Oddly enough he seemed to be decent enough for St. Mirren last season but towards the end of the campaign his form seemed to tail off. He has been dreadful for Hamilton though. Bit odd though that he has gone after just two games though. Maybe points towards a lack of harmony behind the scenes at New Douglas Park?

Ah well spotted! You are of course quite right it was 2003. For some reason I never remember that Challenge Cup run and that was the time we won it!

Anyone know the starting line up?

Challenge Cup Quarter or Semi Final 1999 I think. We utterly rogered them that thanks to some hysterical keeping from Raimero Gonzalez!

Tonight, as discussed elsewhere, sees the return of Wyness to the TCS for Peterhead. Personally I hope that he gets a great reception from the fans before the game but nothing more during the 90 minutes. I think it would be a shame if he was booed by anyone at the ground. Likewise, if Mann or Bavidge were able to play I would like to think that they would get the same reception. Both did well for us, to varying degrees, and I feel that neither deserves to be lambasted by our fans. We've had players do well for us and move onto teams who, when they return to Inverness, get pelters from the fans. Recently Vigurs got some stick from fans when he returned with Ross County and I seem to recall Mackie also receiving the same "treatment" after his loan spell. John Rankin and Craig Dargo seemed to generate some mildly negative shouts when they returned to face ICT for their new clubs as did Mark McCulloch and Barry Wilson when they went to Livi. This season will see Ian Black come back to Inverness with Hearts and Dougie Imrie play for Hamilton Accies this Saturday. I wonder what kind of reception they might get when they take to the field. How do you tend to respond when a former ICT player comes back to face us? Do you applaud his past contribution, criticise throughout the game maintaining he was never that good anyway or do you just not care at all?
  17. Mann has been out injured since the first game of the season. Hope Wyness gets a good reception again.

I keep forgetting that Elgin are even in the league. It's only when I check out who the team bottom of SFL3 is that I remember they are no longer in the Highland League.
  19. We should get Gordon Chisholm in. He's doing a good job at Dundee.

Must admit after a couple of views of the new top I find myself liking it a wee bit more. I think it looks better with names and numbers on the back as opposed to just leaving it bare.

Out of interest, what are you views on players like Ross Tokely and Phil McGuire?
  24. RiG replied to TopSix's topic in Caley Thistle
You'll never know unless you try
  25. RiG replied to TopSix's topic in Caley Thistle
Yes they are but they are not the place to go if you want something done about it. Discussing the matter won't get it resolved. You'd need to take action if you felt that any was required.
