  1. When was the last time any of our forwards had a good game? Foran, Imrie, Morais are all players who can play upfront but none of them are what you would call an out and out striker. They aren't ball winners and don't offer much in the air, when you consider we play long ball football we need at least one player who can compete in the air and chase lost causes. Why Rooney? because IMO the only other options to lead the attack are Wood & Barrowman... Let Rooney run his @rse off for the first 60 odd mins, hopefully it works, if not consider our options. I would try the chelsea formation 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 if things aren't working out... if it's good enough for Hiddink & Mourinho it's good enough for me
  2. I don't think I could pick a better draw for us.. Falkirk at home is a big one.. could decide everything
  3. Esson Tokely Pavels Munro Hastings Duncan Black Kerr Foran Rooney Morais Imrie as an impact sub... difficult to drop Proctor but would prefer Duncan & Kerr to help out the defence
  4. or not
  5. I would have liked to see him play there until we got Pavels, now I'm happy with him at right back but glad to see we have him as an option in that position if necessary.
  6. Not as tempted as I was to make an announcement that I had forgotten to include the Ref in the Hamilton Team line-up .....or to tell Hamilton to get the finger out when making the double substitution :thumb04: You could hear the annoucement of Barrowman sub over the radio... you sounded delighted :018: ;) Have you considered playing Caledonia at some point before the start of every match?? It should be inherited as an ICT anthem for years to come IMO. It's not exactly my genre of music but it fits perfectly and works brilliantly when played at Scotland matches.
  7. Yeh I've always tought that Tokely played centre half and was delighted to hear he had a good game there... I think it certainly makes sense playing Tokely in the centre & Proctor at full back instead of the other way round. I couldn't make the game but listening to CC on the radio he suggested that we missed Tokely's galloping runs down the right side though???
  8. this is horrible to listen to.. we deserve to go down if we can't win our home games
  9. You can blame Brewster all you want but how can Butcher justify playing several players in foreign positions for one of the most important games of the season?? Looks as though he has picked that team from a hat The one thing that annoyed me about Brewster was he tried to be too clever instead of picking players to play in their best positions... Butcher has carried on in the same way
  10. Good team mate I'd go: Calder Tokely Mann Munro Golly Wilson Christie Sheerin Robson Wyness Stewart Brown, Dods, Byers, Black, Cowie, Bagan, Dargo on the bench
  11. Esson Tokely Pavels Munro Hastings Duncan Morais Black Foran Barrowman Imrie Guarentee Barrowman scores!
  12. eh??? Glancy was a wee legend.... he never gave anything but 100% and he was more of a forward than a midfielder Allan... was never that bad Di Barros wasn't half bad either ... Les Fridge would have to be the worst keeper we ever had by a country mile
  13. Very fair Harry...I'm sorry I upset both you and TheKnowledge. I didn't realise you two were so close! he's my lover from another mother :thumb04:
  14. That's a wee bit harsh Chibby babe, and if I may so, not a very appropriate choice of words. As for psychologist's wet dream that is an extremely scary thought - especially taking into account who this website's resident psychologist is.... I don't think your apology is sincere enough.. thus the strong language make it more believable and I will apologise for wording my post so stongly.... fair??
  15. You've hit the nail on the head there. Barrowman needs to be given the ball to score (preferably in the box) and we have little, if any creativity, in the side just now. He doesn't run around like a headless chicken a la Imrie so is branded lazy and struggles to win much in the air against much bigger defenders when we hoof the ball forward. He's pretty much on a hiding to nothing just now completely agree, a lot of the time Barrowman is being asked to receive long high balls with his back to goal and that doesnt suit him. Barrowman is most effective in the box as a poacher and can hit the target when the ball is played in quickly behind the defence as he showed in the first game against Aberdeen. As has been mentioned before it takes players time to settle in to the SPL and i think we need to give hime to to adjust. I have faith he will come good in the end. the criticism he has been getting is unfair given the amount of time he has been given in the team and as long as he is an ICT player we should support him rather that berate him. absolutely spot on..... we could have Van Nistelrooy, Boyd or Barrowman... and it wouldn't make much difference to us because they do their best work in the 6 yard box and unfortunately we are lucky if we get into the opponents half never mind the box. I would like to see him play upfront with Morais or Imrie playing in behind him doing the build up work and see if he can pick up some goals but is he our worst signing?? so far, possibly but he still has 2 years to prove his worth
  16. I once threw a condom in someone's pie as they walked past, does that count... .... no :thumb04: ........ ok then
  17. Your just trying to hurt me. Thats not very nice. A thousand apologies Knowledge... It was an extremely ill advised and quite thoughtless post of mine. Believe me I was not seeking to hurt or offend you in any way shape or form whatsoever. I understand there are quite a few sensitive souls on here, like you, who make many excellent and worthwhile contributions to this website. There are also one or two cretinous tubes (well one anyway) who can be extremely offensive.... but that's another story. so basically, you have tried to make 'TheKnowledge' look like a pr!ck and then complain about someone else who has caused you some offence... you're a psychologists wet dream!!! "In colloquial speech, bullying often describes a form of harassment perpetrated by an abuser who possesses more physical and/or social power and dominance than the victim. The victim of bullying is sometimes referred to as a target. The harassment can be verbal, physical and/or emotional. Sometimes bullies will pick on people bigger or smaller than their size. Bullies hurt people verbally and physically. There are many reasons for that. One of them is because the bullies themselves are or have been the victim of bullying" ala Wikipedia
  18. ;) :thumb04: McGuire!!! :018:
  19. Think it was the repeat on last night... GREAT documentary although extremely byst He was a bit before my time but, by all accounts, sounds like a very interesting character. Only football can bring these guys to the front... it's depressing that the most interesting & unpredictable manager we have in the SPL at the moment is Strachan!! I would love to see more characters in our premier league but IMO we need to expand the league so there is more variety
  20. I wouldn't be surprised because he is an eye catching player, especially when he is galloping forward but he is murder at defending. The most important thing about any defender (feel free to argue) is consistency and the only thing that Zadi has done consistently is make mistakes. He definitely gave the squad a lift with some superb performances and I was happy to see him get a run in the team but we aren't scoring enough to be unreliable at the back... especially when we have so little games to fight for a place in the SPL next season.
  21. Here's a thought, how many last gasp challenges and game-winning-goals has Granty scored?? how many appearances has he made for the club?? He could quite easily have gone hiding on a few occasions (notably the Motherwell fresh air swipe) but he still turns out and always gives his all to the cause. It is far easier to point out the negatives but if you have seen the amount of effort Munro has put into ICT throughout his career you would understand how important he is to the club. Put it this way... how many mistakes has Zadi made since being in the ICT team?
  22. I've said before but I think Cowie was captain material and wish he was still at the club... I imagine he will go on to do good things in England... and hopefully in the Scotland team. His workrate is second to none and will provide goals from midfield It's good to see ex-players paying tribute to the club & fans... good on you Cowie all the best
  23. Looks as though we have a gay crusader in our midst
