Scotland Squad
Commons is out.... we'll be playing Marshall on the left wing at this rate f*cking typical... the idea of a squad is so that every position on the park has at least one natural replacement we are going to be crucified at this rate

Grant Munro
If we lose next week can I please pick the player to get the dog's abuse from this board?? it seems to change every fecking week... please accept the fact we have a gash team but this is the team we have and if we are going to escape relegation we need fans to get behind the players rather than slate them... Pavels & Munro will be a great partnership but it was a bad day at the office on Saturday, as mentioned earlier Granty is having to do more work with Djibber Jabber at left back and has been caught out because of it Munro is our leader.

Falkirk -v- Ict : Matchday Thread
Ref was awful but I think we could have played for another 90 minutes and wouldn't have scored a goal. I agree with alternative maryhill, Foran never stopped although could have easily been sent off, Pavels was the only other player I would give pass marks to! we have real problems if we are conceding the way we are and not scoring Stewards were a fcuking joke but you are never surprised by that now-a-days on another sour note... I don't know who it was but some f@nny from our own support was trying to get himself in a fight with Barrowman. I'm the first to admit that Barrowman has had a dismal season but the abuse he got from the front row of supporters was a disgrace... he wasn't even on the pitch ffs! I am yet to see a league win this season, probably best if I stay away for the rest of the season

Scotland Squad
Doesn't make much sense but fair enough, he is a left footed player who prefers to play on the right rather than what I suggested. When he scored against Man U in the cup he was playing more like a second striker than a winger but it's unlikely he will get us much freedom playing for Scotland. I'm not a massive Alexander fan, especially when he is played at left back but he's had a good season with Burnley and showed he was a match for several premiership wingers this season in both the FA & Carling Cup. Watched McAllister play on Sunday against Cardiff City, he had a decent game but the only reason he is getting a sniff at the Scotland squad is because of a real lack of options. I've not got a massive issue with Broadfoot but what has Barr done??? His team are currently propping up the league and you mocked me (and you rightly should have) about suggesting an ICT player should make it into the squad but it is just as ridiculous suggesting Barr merits a place.... I think the selection of Barr itself has pi55ed me off and shows Burley knows nothing about the current state of the SPL. He might just be a versatile bench warmer and possibly someone Burley thinks will become a player for Scotland but IMO, International management, if anything, is picking form players! Why limit your options on match day when you have already picked a player that isn't going to get a sniff of action? He is just taking up space for someone who has done a better job elsewhere and deserved a place i.e. Diamond, Kenneth, Wilkie, Reynolds.... I'd even prefer to see Robbie fecking Neilson at centre back ahead of Barr I was annoyed when I read this, probably because you're spot on. Caldwell will probably sit infront of the defence and have as bad a performance as every other time he's played there for Celtic and Scotland. He is a ball playing centre half, which is completely different from playing in the centre of the park. If he is not good enough to play in his natural position then the manager shouldn't be making exceptions just to get him on the park I would have liked to see Mulgrew make the team, would have given us a more left sided option and I would have put money on him scoring a free kick

Scotland Squad
Left footed outfield players: Commons, S.Fletcher, McAllister, Naysmith, McManus, Berra. Get yourself checked out if you think our players should merit a place in that squad! Esson and Black perhaps as backups, but GK and Midfield are Scotland's best covered positions. I'd gladly have any of those players in an ICT shirt (even Broadfoot!), as they are better quality than we have currently. I was being sarcastic about using ICT players Fair play with the lefties though.... is Common not a right footed player who can cover the left side though? He played right wing against the Argies! I am more concerned with Left back & left midfield... obviously Naysmith will be left back and McAllister will be cover/Alexander... but left mid we have Commons & he has maybe picked Teale to cover both not really natural left wingers though

Scotland Squad
Goalkeepers Craig Gordon (Sunderland) Allan McGregor (Rangers) David Marshall (Norwich City) Defenders Graham Alexander (Burnley) Darren Barr (Falkirk) Christophe Berra (Wolverhampton W.) Kirk Broadfoot (Rangers) Gary Caldwell (Celtic) Alan Hutton (Tottenham Hotspur) Jamie McAllister (Bristol City) Stephen McManus (Celtic) Gary Naysmith (Sheffield United) David Weir (Rangers) Midfield Scott Brown (Celtic) Kris Commons (Derby County) Barry Ferguson (Rangers) Darren Fletcher (Manchester United) Paul Hartley (Celtic) James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion) Gavin Rae (Cardiff City) Gary Teale (Derby County) Forwards David Clarkson (Motherwell) Steven Fletcher (Hibernian) Chris Iwelumo (Wolverhampton W.) Ross McCormack (Cardiff City) Kenny Miller (Rangers) Not impressed to be honest there is more depth and quality in the current ICT squad... Barr is a token gesture, no balance to the squad - I can count 2 left footed outfield players + Gordon I watch a lot of the championship footie and although Teale has had a good run of games he is far far far far from the quality we need to take on a world class team. Glad I didn't waste the money I was going to by going across to The Dam what a mess

Ict -v- Falkirk : Cup Day Thread
He gives his all and has more postive attributes than negative, as long as he is eager to learn he could become an excellent player for us. It was a ludicrous challenge today though and will probably give Tel a decision to play him for the next game or not I can't remember them having a shot on goal after we had a man sent off.. gutted because I live beside hampden so would have been an easy journey but it was obviously going to happen IMO

Butcher Manager Of The Month?
was in March.. so would have to wait until next month thankfully
-
From The Scotsman
Callum Murray :thumb04: It was an easy penalty to call, and I'm sure if it was a borderline decision we probably wouldn't have got it but to be fair to the guy he had to put the whistle to his mouth... and he did so well done that man Funny thing is I've seen numerous games with Murray in charge and he struggled to give us a throw in never mind a contentious decision... must have been evening things out

Terry Butcher Appreciation Thread
Had my doubts but delighted to be proved wrong (so far)... I am still not yet buying into the hype but after losing against Motherwell we needed to show some resolve and the team have done exactly that. Our problem has never been getting points against the old firm though but beating the teams round about us, if we can manage to do that and improve our home form then we'll be on to a winner
-
Doubters?
Obviously delighted with the result and the way things have been turned around by Butcher, also it's refreshing to have a manager who carries himself so well infront of the media. He is a legend in the game so should be able to attract decent players if given the finances. Don't get ahead of yourself though Brew did the same thing at Ibrox after Christie stepped down (Christie who also received my full backing at the time)... I think the board deserve full credit for making an excellent appointment because I couldn't think of anyone who would make such a drastic improvement but I guarentee (quote me if you like) that either January or May 2010 Butcher will have either been headhunted by another club or given the sack because our fans have turned on him Also, as useful as Kerr, Foran and Eric have been I think most people would agree it's Pavel who has steadied the ship and given us a fighting chance, if Brew was given the backing of the fans instead of us turning on him.... who's to know if he could have made things work?? but he wasn't and there was no way back for him after Hamilton and the rest is history
-
Pavels
what's wrong with offering a contract that has a relegation release clause? at least that way we would be guarenteed some money if he leaves Players like Pavels are hard to come across, look at McPake for Livi, he is decent but nothing special and ended up being signed by Coventry (I think).... there are next to no decent centre halves in Scotland outside the top six and if we secure a contract for him we could make a pretty penny.. or we could let him go for free and let some other team have the business Morais, Ghatuessi are players that might not be needed Pavels is a necessity if we ever expect to come back into the SPL.. that is IF we are relegated
-
Pavels
EXACTLY what we need.. it's been no coincidence that since he has signed we've seen a massive improvement in our defensive record and our points tally. I would go the whole hog and offer 4 years because trust me there will be plenty of clubs sniffing about next season I will be gutted if he isn't signed up for at least 3 years

Benitez Set To Quit?
Any manager that manages to put another star on top of the club badge has proved they are an exceptional football manager and in my eyes he is one of the best managers of our era... unfortunately he has come up against THE football manager in Sir Ferguson
-
Dougie Imrie
Riordan is a waste of space, the kind of player that us fans hate to watch because he has so much natural ability and the platform to demonstrate it yet he continues to act like a petulant child... IMO he has lost interest in the game Imrie on the other hand plays with raw aggression, you can tell he has a real love for the game and genuinely wants to impress the fans whatever chance he gets. He still has a lot to prove though, it's alright stringing a few good performances together but the key is maintaining that over a season and then improving the season after... I have high hopes for Imrie though

Butcher Manager Of The Month?
from past experience that usually ends up being the kiss of death.. i'd prefer it stayed with the evil sisters of Glasgow until the last month of the season

Butcher interview put a smile on my face It's great to hear such enthusiasm from a manager... essential win but still a lot of work to do

Djebi-zadi
What if we could combine Richard's composure with Lionel's sheer determination to make a super human left back who could only be known as Lionel Richie??
-
Djebi-zadi
fair comment but I think Tokely has no real competition for right back
-
Djebi-zadi
:thumb04: No .... does anyone else feel we are just waiting for Zadi to make a big mistake??

A Shake Up Of The Board
agreed... and I've dealt with a few going back to Alex's point about "buisness acumen" business is a massive generalisation for thousands/millions of different occupations, just because someone is succesful in an area doesn't mean they are generally a good business man. Most of these guys will work in the constraints of a company set up until they manage to work to the top (usually through kissing ass) and only then will they see money changing hands. Clive Woodward won the Rugby world cup and then thought he could easily apply the same methods to football... and look how that turned out. The same might be said about this guy, he may have been an expert in his field but he is clearly dealing with a completely different sport! Hopefully he can add something but I amn't convinced he hasn't just offered some buzz words that have swayed the board

Robbo Returns
:thumb04: good question

Robbo Returns
Robbo Have you any thoughts on the current league set up? I am of the opinion we should be looking to create a 16 team league that will offer more diversity to the fixture list. Any thoughts? also a wee sneaky question: What do you think is the most important attribute for someone to become a succesful football player?
