  2. I was one of the 32k that forked out ?30+ to see Diego-GOD-Maradonna make his managerial debut and obviously hoping for an upset but it wasn't to be I'm completely with Ross on this one, Ferguson and Hutton were 2 of OUR best players and was delighted they were both back in the team. I've given Barry-back pass-Ferguson a lot of stick on previous occasions about his contribution in Scotland games but he was the only player that didn't look in awe of the Argentina players and played his own game! My main concern was towards the end of the first half when the Argies had a lot of possession and some of the Scotland squad were counting down the seconds until half time... when losing a game players should be fearing the half time whistle because of the earful you would expect a manager to give them but I can imagine Burley's bark to amount to that of a poodles and this was reflected on the performance IMO They weren't even that good, obviously they were on cruise control after they scored but we were always in the game, if we had pushed a bit harder we would have got a point at least but instead we showed far too much respect and got what we deserved AND FOR ALL OF THIS I BLAME GORDON SMITH!! If he had reduced the ticket prices he would have easily sold out, the atmosphere would have been better they could have recouped some of the money through merchandise, food and programme sales... not to mention the 12th man on the pitch could have caused an upset that would have shocked world football... maybe a bit over the top but I felt aggreaved leaving the stadium not because of the performance on the pitch but stupidity off it!!! oh and McManus is gash!
  3. DOH - give Brew a break - his tactics won us the game at Hibs - He has kept us in the SPL - He has blooded the youngsters and is working on a reduced budget - he was a great player and he can become a great manager - let him pick the team and he will eventually get it right - he needs more time - He is right to persist playing Cowie, Imrie and Bazza on their wrong foot - that tactic is clearly working - Proctor is a Scotland central defender in the making - Black needs to be shackled - The more that I chop and change the three strikers the more I get out of them. :thumb04: :018: What a statement.... so you wanted us to lose ya mupped?? ;) Have to admit though I'm not impressed with 1 upfront at home, especially when crowds have been so low and we played 2 upfront against Falkirk away!!!! Seems Brew is always trying to be too clever for his own good... this was a perfect oppertunity for us to get on a winning streak with a side full of confidence after a great performance at the weekend and I think Brew inhibited the team by not playing a more attacking formation (not even attacking, a standard 4-4-2 would have probably done) obviously he saw the error of his ways at half time... which is encouraging but he NEEDS to figure out his best 11!! What the **** is a mupped ? A winning streak - TWO !!! How long does it take to establish a best 11 away from home and at home - bet even you could do that ya moped. :015: :D *muppet na not defending him, he should have had his best 11 sorted before he bought the players to fill the positions

  5. I know the season wont be played out by the next 5 games but I found it interesting reading to see Hamilton's fixture list for the next few games: Hearts (a) Celtic (h) Dundee United (a) Killie (h) Rangers (a) Hibs (a) Motherwell (h) it will be a coupon buster for Hamilton to get any points out of those fixtures, Killie at home is the only game that the bookies will give decent odds..... and to finish up the Motherwell game is a derby match If we can pull away then Hamilton could be a drift by Christmas Positive thinking maybe??
  6. To be honest I think Brew is still having trouble picking his best 11, once we have a settled starting team I'm sure it will be reflected by some decent results
  7. Didn't realise it has been debated before, don't have much time these days peruse the net Just seems crazy to have an other teams merchandise advertised on this site
  8. Esson Tokely Proctor Munro Hastings Cowie Black Duncan Imrie Rooney Barrowman
  9. Celtic strips on sale at Ebay being advertised on this site?? eh???
  10. Great win and delighted the team pulled it out of the bag (I for one didn't expect anything) but disappointed that out of the 2 scorers not 1 was a striker You either need a solid defence or an on form striker to stay in this division and just now we have neither I think Brew has a lot of work to do in January if we are going to stay in the SPL next season
  11. What absolute rubbish Hairy - wide players dont congest the middle of the park !! the best evidence of that was yesterday - when Brew compacted Black, Duncan and Vigurs - good tactics even if he did get lucky after the goal - but Cowie is obviously a right foot and Imrie is a left foot. Have a look at our second goal yesterday - created by Cowie's natural wont to go rite. Top European sides interchange - what do you think Man Ure fans would say if Fergie played Ronaldo on the left fer the whole game or Giggs on the rite - or Gooners about Van Persie on the rite etc., etc. They use it as a tactical switch not the full game plan. If we had used the interchange at Falkirk we may have won - another example of managerial arrogance. :thumb04: If a left footed player is playing on the right (or vice versa) then the only way they can get on to their favourite foot is by coming in field and thus congesting the middle of the park!! I was playing football myself on Saturday so couldn't make it along but that was certainly the case at Falkirk and it almost paid off... and it seems against Hibs it did! ... and Man U have gone through previous European campaigns playing Rooney on the left side of midfield and Giggs on the right so that they could stiffle the opponent before opening the game up and having a go, although Fergie had his critics at the time for using this style If you read my post you'd see I'm agreeing with you anyway you muppet, I'm not a massive fan of this type of play but I can see why Brew is trying this and against Hibs it obviously paid off
  12. Idea is probably to congest the middle of the park and make it more difficult for the opposing team to play through us and after we have sustained the pressure switch them back to their favoured sides and catch out the opponent. I can understand Brew using this tactic away from home, you see many top European sides doing it but IMO it is a very negative, expecially when playing at home. I thought when we played Falkirk it worked well and we would have had a comfortable victory if it wasn't for 2 of the worst referring decisions I've seen but it has obviously come up trumps for Brew this weekend so fair play to him.
  13. Totally agree McBain is a more than useful senior player that always gives 110% and never acts like a little girl when he is subbed or doesn't start every game He also has a better goal scoring record than the majority of our midfield Most importantly he is an essential squad player, I expect Vigurs to be his eventual replacement as a first team player but if anyone else can recomend a left sided player that offers consistent performances and SPL experience I'd like to hear it???
  14. Hope McGuire receives a speedy recovery, however, I think this will force Brew's hand in buying a new centre half in the transfer window
  15. Big centre half, pacey striker and a centre mid that will chip in with some goals... is Lampard available? we really aren't that far away from a formidable side IMO but we need a couple of fresh faces that will sneak us into the top 6
  16. I see what your saying i just think a 2 year deal is best. for instance look at cowie...great season last season...this season struggling to get started for whatever reason that may be. black has so far this season been top notch but he hasn't proved himself to be consistant...quarter of the season isn't enough proof...i hope he does sign but two years would be ideal I think for both club and player. you have to agree consistancy is paramount. on his part no player wants to tie himself down unless your talking tens of thousands of pounds a week and he certainly won't get a 5th of that at caley...we all know that caley pay the lowest wages in the league so a player with potential won't want to sign longer than two years. football is such a short career that you cant sign long term deals with low paying clubs and unfortunately caley are one of those clubs. Black has probably been one of our most consistent players since he arrived at the club, so in that regard I think he's proven himself as more than just a "short term" wonder and worthy of being offered as long a contract as we can get him to sign. I'm not arguing over what the player may be willing to commit himself too, I'm on about what is in the best interests of the club. Although, there's also ways of enticing players to sign longer deals without having to commit financially in the wage packet every week. They can be offered an enhanced percentage of any future transfer fee....effectively meaning that the longer they sign up for and the higher a fee the club can command, the better of the player will be....everyone wins. I am a fan of Black and have been since I first saw him doing tricks at the sideline after just arriving from Blackburn but for being one of our most forward thinking midfielders he hasn't tallied many goals or assists for that matter. He works hard, has great technique and an excellent first touch but for a player to merit a 3+ year contract the club need to justify that we can't find a player that would be more effective in his position, and also needs to take into account his disciplinary record and whether his attitude is a positive influence to the rest of the squad. I would love to see him sign a longer contract because I think you are investing in his potential but I think he still needs to prove himself at the club like every other player. Craig Bryson @ Killie for example bagged 4 goals in his first season in the SPL and already scored 2 so far this season...
  17. As good as a new signing IMO... great to see a player so commited to the ICT cause
  18. have to admit when he played the first half against Morton he was terrible but apart from Imrie most of the team played awful that game I still think he has plenty to offer the club but he is now competing with stirkers in the same age bracket so he has no excuses anymore Wood, Rooney & Rory are all very similar players so it's down to him to show he is the best of the 3
  19. so do you expect him to request to be re-signed with the club once he has recovered from his injury?? or he could have requested to stay with the club but reject his wage while being injured if he felt that guilty Most clubs have insurance for their players incase of injury so a proportion of the wage is covered, I doubt there would have been much guilt involved in his decision
  20. well has there been any threads about the Rankin & Brew rumour?
  21. is this about the Rankin & Brewster rumour? I've been off line the last few weeks so don't know if anyone else has mentioned it.... some quality stories going around at the moment!!
  22. signed from Cowdenbeath(?), there is no way he would be paid that much but agree does seem like a waste of money. I am more disappointed at the player than the club though, it seems he asked to terminate the contract after ICT paid money to help him recover, which is a big slap in the face IMO. I hope the club have agreed the termination in condition that he doesn't spring up at another SPL club i.e Hibs, in the next few weeks for what it's worth I thought he had the potential to be a decent player if he wasn't so injury prone
  23. got my top, perfect quality for a replica ordering another couple when I get paid :thumb04:
  24. I don't get it
  25. :thumb04: :018:
