  1. Damn - it should have been away to Stranraer and another nite out in PortPatrick - reckon we could have had less than the Berwick 17 or the Dumfries 14 ?

In the town that I was born - lived a man who sailed the seas And he told me of his life - in a Sneckie submarine So we sailed up through the leagues - till we reached our land of dreams And were going there again - to the Scottish Premier League All together now - we all sail in a Sneckie submarine etc. We Come On The HMS Sneck We lie drunk on the deck From Inverness town we Do Roam drinking All Night, Got Into A Fight well I Feel So Broken Up, I Want Go To Home so Hoist Up The Sneckie Sail see How The Mainsail Sets call For The Captain Ashore So let Me Go Home, So Let Me Go Home Cos this is the best/worst trip I've ever been on My old man said be a County fan I said feck aff bollicks yer a **** We took the Jail End in half a minute We took Elgin with the Staigo in it We hammered the Huntly and we ran the Blue Toon too So I'll always be a drinker And not a Dingwall tinker Thats what I told my old man. 3. Sounds purrfect.
  4. Well again - it is pre season stuff - if the two starting X1's played again in a competive match I suspect that the outcome would be different. I am surprised that Tokely has not been played at right back - I am equally surprised that McBain has not been tried out at left back. That evidently says that TB intends to stick by Rosscoe at center half, Jimmy at left back, Duncan in central midfield and Granty as captain - all of which I personally disagree with. But like I said - time will tell.
  5. I would agree to an extent - a good start is imperative. But it could all be about fitness, experience and tactics - of the first four games Dundee should be the one that tests us the most - after four games we may see the measure of the rest of the season.
  6. I had an interesting discussion at work with a fan of Wigan and a fan of Bolton today which really got me thinking. When I told them of my fears and perspectives they suggested that going in to the SFL may well be a way forward for the club - It felt to them - and I agree - that we may not have been ready for the SPL when we went up - especially in regard to the off field management and PR. When you think about it we survived for the most apart from a few wonder weeks but mismanagement was the name of the game throughout the SPL era - and now here we are - back in the SFL - with an experienced, charismatic manager who is good PR in himself and there are already changes happening off the field that perhaps should have happened a long time ago. Lets hope that the communication and the return to being a family club only continues. WE MAY HAVE NEEDED TO DROP INTO THE SFL TO REGROUP AND REORGANISE - WE MAY ACTUALLY LEARN HOW TO BE AN SPL CLUB IN THE SFL ?
  7. Not much choice when we have 5 or 6 players carrying injuries and knocks!!! I meant in the positional sense.
  8. I often pass on the therapeutic qoutation of "get a feckin grip" when I come across individuals who I feel are becoming withdrawn from reality, are over critical and have an overestimation of expectancy - well there appear to be quite a few sufferers on this site at the moment. I suapect that there are many who joined the cause as we headed in to the SPL and were not around when we were travelling around the outposts of the lower leagues. We are now looked at has been one of the bigger teams and lower league teams will be looking for our scalp and they will be upping their game and committment when they face us - not so long ago we were the Montrose and yesterday was like us going to one of the bigger clubs of yesteryear. We do not have a given right to hammer any team - these opening rounds of cup games will always be banana skins with everything to lose - look at feckin Ayr United yesterday - and Tinkerville. Lets lower our feckin expectations and wait until the league campaign sets off before we gather the knives. As I said in another post we have a large number of squad players with SPL experience - the first X1 should be clearer as we take the field at Dumbfarmlife. It should happen that the players should all be good enuff to hold their own in the SFL. I may not agree with Butcher on certain issues but it is all on his shoulders but it is also his responsibility.
  9. I actually probably said most of that last season and there is a sense of plageurism in this - but I will criticise when the league campaign begins - as far as I am concerned Tel Boy appears to be sticking by some of his questionable selections, formations and tactics. That is a big gamble BUT we are playing in the SFL this season not the SPL. There are enuff players in this team who should have benefitted from the SPL experience and should be considerably more adept in the SFL. Time will tell.
  10. Just when I thought we had turned a corner - it isnt fair to judge manager and players on such a game at an early stage of the season but there are real comparisons with last year and the managers perserverance to stick to certain players and playing them in certain positions.
  11. Just got in - 5-3 - sounds like a really feckin entertaining game - can anybody tell me about the build up to the goals. Annan or Stranraer away next :021:
  12. Sorry but I will miss you but you can leave a double voddie and coke "on the tap" and I will remember you the next time I frequent the Innes.
  13. Do you require a suitably qualified professional "helper" - I would be only too happy to administer a sedatory intramuscular injection and utilise control and restraint if necessitated.
  14. :022: Their anagrams are "To large beer" (he could end up being a big fave of mine) and "It is visual burn" which could mean that he is a hot signing.
  15. It was the feckin kids - I was tricked.
  16. Spot on - and I will get my first glimpse at Dumbfarmlife - when the season really starts - although I would cherish a wee cup run as well. I think that although peeple have their reservations we have a backbone of seasoned professionals who have fairly extensive experience of the SFL and we have kept the "spine" of the team relatively intact. I think that we are as good as anybody else defensively, we are as good as anybody else in the attacking sense but I fear that we are lacking in the creativity sense. I also fear that we may be in for some back to the wall, hit on the break away days - effective if not pleasurable - hopefully I will be proved wrong.
  17. Cant believe I am saying this but the muppets are learning and have got this one right as well. Unfortunately it may add a wee bit pressure as there is a "do or die" feel about this - lets hope there is a wee incentive for getting us back up. IMHO we are feckin lucky to have kept Tel boy and he has undoubtedly been the reason for the likes of Foran and Eric staying as well. Without them we would have been seriously fecked.
  18. Good points there - it is an individual choice in the long run - but I would suggest to SMEE that he takes advantage of the offer as he stands out a mile with the straight jacket.
  19. Jhesus - I thought that the old programmes were free to take out of the shop with you. :022:
  20. Well - that is two double feckin vodka and cokes to start with. I love meeting newbies.
  21. Juanjo at Easter Road, Hislop's winner at the Ice Station, Thompson at Love Street, Bagan at Tynecastle in the cup and Tokleys at the New Midden
  22. Bronson has been posting like that fer feckin years.
  23. Have you taken your tablets ?
  24. Im looking forward to this goal ;) It could be the classiest own goal ever.
