  1. Black was sitting in front of me at the game. With I assume his Brother - they looked like Bilbo and Frodo Baggins :003:
  2. I finally figured out how Brewster selects his team line-ups - he must do it like they do for the Scottish cup draw ie ball number 2 - Tokely, will play .... ball number 4 - right midfield. Then he takes on Hart and puts him left midfield!! Who in their right mind would play Tokely right midfield? I thought Tokely put in a power of work and had a great game despite being out of position. I suppose it could be worse he could have played McBain right midifield, surely not you say , but he did play him there against Rangers at home. We have a very good right midfielder at the club, oh no wait a minute we gave him away to St Johnstone Also, we are supposed to be at home against an average team yet we play the whole game with one up front. I thought Niculae played very well but he had no support and it was 4 against 1. That said, it was a good game and had plenty talking points. Thought we tried really hard in difficult circumstances after losing Duncan.
  3. That's the same team selection I would pick as well Icytea That said, I bet Brew finds a place in the team for McBain. He seems to think McBain can play anywhere - Left back, left midfield, centre midfield or right midfield (what was he thinking!!). I keep expecting to see McBain play in goals - as Brew says " Good players can play anywhere" :024:
  4. BTW this quote came from page 452, paragraph 12, line 42 of the book :023:
  5. CaleyD, I agree with most of what you said, my favourite bit had to be - "Anyway, in short" :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Glad you kept it short :015:
  6. "Is Brewster a bad manager?" In a word, yes ! Never liked his style of play when he was here first time - punt the ball up to me guys. Wasn't concerned when he left, in fact I was delighted we were getting so much money for him and the hanger-ons. I was concerned though that he would buy our best players - he bought Proctor - a constant sub for us. Then was amazed we took him back after his DU record. Still don't like his style of play or his man management. Is Brewster a bad manager? IMHO, in a word Yes !

Really chuffed Niculae scored. Hopefully this has increased his chances of leaving in the summer with us getting a healthly transfer fee into the bargain. Lets get back to what we are good at - all the players on roughly the same wages, great team spirit, great work ethic with no 'superstars'. Oh and we need a great manager as well, anybody know of one??
  8. Pele's fitness regime is the 3 B's - Bar, Bookies and Benson & Hedges :tic01:
  9. Or in charge of the nights out, or fitness coach :023:
  10. I certainly agree we need to get rid of Brewster, Thompson and Niculae ASAP
  11. As title suggests - If Brewster and ICT were to part company as a lot of people on here want. Who should replace him? Is there any decent candidates available ?
  12. Okay calm yourself we've all had a drink :023:
  13. I just hope if he is picked for Romania that all their games are at home :014:
  14. We would really miss his goals away from home, how many has he scored again? :015: :023: :024:
  15. You need to work on your poetry - it doesn't rhyme :tic01: Or is it a case of - your a poet and didn't know it :023:
  16. BTW, Pele's record with Aberdeen was much better than Brew's at DU - (Pele - 1.14 points per game), (Brew - 0.6 points per game) , so almost twice as good. Also Pele had a long history of success behind him in management but his legendary drinking definitely put other bigger clubs off
  17. Not when he was with us - He had a great record in the highland league, we took him and he had a great record with us. Unfortunately for him he went downhill ever since then. In a way you are backing up what I was originally saying - Pele was terrible at Aberdeen, consequently he had to go back down to the Highland league to get a job. Whereas Brew had a worse record with DU yet still got a job in the SPL - a VERY lucky guy IMHO !!
  18. Completely irrelevant?? Of course it is relevant - we are talking about his managment credentials. You could say that his playing career is now irrelevant, but not his management career !!
  19. Brewster (at DU) - played - 28, won - 2, drawn - 11, lost - 15. Points per game 0.6 Levien (at Leicester) - played - 72, won - 20, drawn - 26, lost - 26. Points per game 1.2 Brew was a great player for us - IMHO the best we had at the time. Unfortunately he will never play again and I have never believed him to be a great manager.
  20. Cheers So, his record was played 28, won 2 !! Can anyone remind me why this guy ever got another job in management ? Anybody else with that record would have to drop down a few divisions or more probably would never manage again. Yet he got to manage an SPL club, one that he left in the lurch for that matter.
  21. Can anyone tell me what Brewster's record was as Manager of Dundee United ? I remember it being pretty awful, but don't know the exact figures Cheers
  22. Any man that thinks McBain can play right midfield, (against Rangers) worries me tactically when we have players such as Wilson and Hart not even included in the squad.
  23. I know what people are saying - I used to be on the ICT website all the time 4 or 5 years ago and am now hardly ever here (as you can see by my posting count). This is not any refelection on the site which is just as good as it always has been, but more a reflection on me. I think I was more passionate about ICT in those days as it all seemed new and exciting, look at Scottish cup games for example - If say we had been drawn against Kilmarnock away (which we were twice in a week) for instance on a Tuesday night in January a few years ago I would have been there come rain, hail or snow as this was a 'big game' for us. Now, I wouldn't even consider taking an afternoon of my work to go down unless it was a semi-final or final. There was even one game - Partick away where in the morning there was a weather warning telling people they should not travel on the A9 as the snow was so heavy. Of course we went anyway, I took the car, skidded and crashed it, left the car where it was, got my Wife to deal with the insurance etc, got a lift from someone else and still made the game (which we drew). Today, I must say I would have stayed at home (in the warmth). I think this comes from the fact we are a mid-table team so each game is not 'life or death' whereas if you are challenging at the top of a table or fighting relegation every game is very important .

Personally, I thought a few decades loan at Peterhead would have done Rory some good :023:
  25. Okay I am going to say it - I do NOT want an Englishman as Scotland number 2 or number 3 for that matter !! That said, I didn't want a German to be the Scotland boss either. I think this is a mistake by Burley as it will give plenty fans an excuse to 'get on his back' if results do not go our way early on. Burley was just quoted in the paper last week saying that Scotland had a wealth of talent when it came to Managers and coaches and that England didn't have a lot of quality in that area and that is why they went for another foreigner to manage them. Seems a little ironic then that he has ignored this so called wealth of talent and selected an Englishman to be his assistant.
