Depends on what you were looking to be convinced about. For me, I was looking to see a team with a different shape and a bit more potential for this campaign....I've seen enough so far to believe we have that (both from pre-season and first two SPL games).

Whats the solution? What are you going to do?
CaleyD replied to caleytillidie's topic in Caley Thistle
The Board of Caley Jags Together....and I'm assuming that is who you are having a pop at....can only do so much without the help of others, and it is that which they try to encourage. Ultimately they are there to represent the fans, to take forward and try and execute the ideas they bring forward to improve things for the fans and to try and increase attendance and support as a result. They were responsible for the free tickets for schools and youth groups initiatives the club now have in place....they (the then Supporters Trust) spent several season purchasing season tickets which we made available to these groups and in doing so we proved the merits of such a scheme to the club who have since taken it on board and hugely expanded on it. They have supported Street League level football for as long as I can remember, they provided assistance with travelling for Youth level football at the club during a time or particular hardship...and continue to offer assistance as and when they can and when it is needed. They took up the fans case with the club over the summer over the whole Rangers fiasco (despite many fans letting themselves down by not following through on promises). They went to bat for the guys in (the then) section G when their was problems with over zealous stewarding. They've assisted with two very successful kids kickaround sessions this year which brought a total of near 250 kids on to the park and gave them the chance to meet and play a bit of football with the players. Many of the things the club are being praised for recently have also been driven and supported by Caley Jags Together. Individuals from within the organisation assist on matchdays with a whole host of things from selling programmes and half time draw tickets to stadium announcing, operating the clubs matchday media operations (previews, reports, videos and interviewing), as well as assisting with the website and driving it towards the product the fans want/desire. CJT members were also in there helping the club stuff envelopes at renewal time, allowing the club to get all letters out in a much reduced timescale (the result of other goings on outwith the clubs control). They sat down with the club when season ticket prices and packages were being set and advised where appropriate/relevant. And all of the above does not include the hundreds of hours put in to organising and running fund-raising events which are operated in order to provide the money which allows these things to be achieved. In fact, I could confidently say that there's not a day goes by when someone or other from CJT is not in communication with the club over something. All of the above has been achieved despite our only having maybe 15 or so "active" participants when it comes to doing a little bit more than buying a ticket and turning up at a match.....imagine what could be achieved if we had 100 people willing to do the same? I could (literally) give you a list of 100+ other things that we would love to do....but we can't do it by ourselves. There's some individuals who spend 20, 30, 40 hours (unpaid) a week (sometimes a lot more) doing stuff to help club and fans.....so please don't come on here all mouth and no action, questioning the loyalties of anyone within CJT.- 93 replies

Incorrect. Where were you sitting? Perhaps Main Stand folk wouldn't have seen it quite so well due to that angle and bodies in the way and what not, but I was in the North Stand had a great side on view of the incident. He did attempt to head butt him - or at least the motion that he intended to. Everyone in my area saw it, so much so there's was a big groan from everyone as soon as he did it. I find quite hard to believe some people seem to be quietly or indirectly justifying and condoning what he did! Stadium Announcers Box...but video was taken from the other side, so two different angles. Which part of my post suggested that I was condoning his actions?

Don't know for certain, but don't think any Fixed Penalties were issued today. Got the impression there was a bit of an amnesty going on, with "offenders" getting nothing more than a warning.
-
I doubt we'll be allowed to include the incident in any highlights, and I'm not defending his reaction, but there was no raised hand, attempt to head butt or grabbing/holding of the player. Every time I heard mention of it after the game it grew worse and worse. Entirely right to have been red carded for acting in an aggressive manner, but it was little more than charging and getting right into the face of the guy. No need for it, stupid thing to have done....but the guy had been niggling him the entire match...and that on top of the fact that OTJ has had near career ending injuries from such cynical challenges and you can perhaps understand his reaction a little more.

What happens on the pitch will take care of itself and the only thing we can do as fans is get behind the team and give them as positive and vocal a backing as we can and hope that spurs them on to the odd extra goal and point on the board. My only expectation for the team (as I say every season) is that they go out there and give it their best shot in every game. Our target should be survival, our expectations should be to improve on last season and our hopes should be for a top six finish. I also largely agree with 12th Man, insofar as giving a little more focus to the off the field operations. That is where the non playing side of the club and the fans have real opportunity and can make great inroads into improving the overall matchday experience (home and away) and get more bums on seats.....that in turn puts a few more pennies in the kitty to allow other things to happen and some of that inevitably rolls over into the playing budget and allows for improvements there. "TOGETHER"....should be the buzz word for this season.

There is/will be (soon as I get time to add it to the online shop) the option to purchase an annual subscription for £30....10 magazines at £3 each with free P&P. It is available now to buy (in person) from the club shop....£3 I've not seen a copy yet, but from the pictures it looks like a decent quality production. Looking forward to seeing loads of fan contributed content...don't think we'll ever see a return to the old fanzine style articles being acceptable, but I know I far prefer reading stuff written/contribute by fans than journalists.

I know we have our own "syndicate" for player sponsorship here on CTO - - but if there's anyone out there who is feeling a little more flush and would like to do more then the club have advised that theirs still opportunities to sponsor the following players..... Gary Warren Antonio Reguero Josh Meekings Martin Laing Liam Polworth Conor Pepper ....maybe you could even convince your boss or someone to sponsor them!!! Information and prices can be found on the Official Club Website - http://ictfc.com/commercial/sponsorship/player-sponsorship

Just to highlight....it was I who suggested giving the verge a miss, just to be on the safe side. https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q655.htm If you want to know "What the actual problem is" then you'll need to contact the police. The club are merely passing on a notice given to them to it's customers (which is good customer service on their part) so don't shoot the messenger.

Yeah, they're doing so much to inspire Scottish Youngsters that all the free tickets given to schools went to schools based in England only. It's things like that which get on my goat....all this talk of a "United Games, doing good for the whole country".....it's a crock of chit.

So much for the Bannerman Clan Motto "Pro Patria"....your ancestors will be turning in their graves!!!

Just a heads up as I know we have a few offenders on here..... Northern Constabulary have advised that parking on either side of Stadium Road is an offence and they may issue fixed penalty tickets to motorists parking on the double yellow lines. Obviously matchdays are one of the worst times for this, so you're advised to make use of the Stadium Car Park. Personally, I wouldn't even risk parking up on the verge further round on the other side of the bridge and such places either.

Where there's the will!!!! After all, let's not forget that TeamGB themselves are punching way above their weight on the medal count...especially if you are comparing likelihood of success on population of the nation competing. Acceptance of all competitors and competing countries regardless of race, religion, location, size, politics, wealth etc.....are these not the principles that underpin the entire concept of the Olympic Games? Surely if there's anywhere, or any event, where a country should be allowed to stand alone and on it's own merits and not have it's resources (especially when they are, as you claim, limited) ripped off to support those of another....then it's the Olympics.

You'll be trying to tell us next that he only wanted to shake hands!!!

The cash would come from us not sending it south to pay for things like the "LONDON" Olympics and the legacy which will be left for "English Sport"....to the tune of £135 Million for grassroots sports, not a penny of which will come north. SportScotland spent £6 Million investing in facilities on the promise of being allocated training camps....they got two teams who brought less than 30 athletes to camps in Scotland. More than £200,000 per (foreign) athlete!!! Tens of millions of regeneration funding redirected from Scotland to the London boroughs around the Olympic Park area. £150 million of Scottish Lottery Funding redirected to London. To top it all off, economists reckon that Scotland saw a sizeable dip in tourism as people either went to London or avoided the UK altogether. And that's just off the top of my head. Compare that to the Commonwealth Games where Scotland will receive a grand total of "ZERO" funding from the UK Government and a legacy programme valued at less than £7 Million over 5 years. To answer your question....Scotland would get the money from where it gets it at the moment, the only difference being that they retain it for themselves.
-
First chance I get I'll catalogue what I have and then we can work to fill in the blanks.
-
I think it's pretty incredible just how well Scots athletes/sports persons are doing considering that we're pretty much producing what we have despite the slim pickings we get in terms of investment in Sport and Sports Facilities.....investment that was, even before the Olympics, disproportionate. Surely the argument must be that Scottish representation is succeeding despite TeamGB and not because of it!!! Imagine what a Team Scotland could achieve if it was backed by an Independent Scotland who were investing with pride in it's own nation.

There seemed little doubt in the press area that Guy clocked Draper...and Guy certainly wasn't protesting the decision in any way, shape or form as he left the pitch. Looking at the video, the Ref had a clear view and was straight over the instant it happened. I believe Guy could receive an extended ban, depending on what the Ref puts in his report.

Don't think they'd want my crappy quality vids on their shiny new channel! All looks very promising. Like the idea of producing our own highlights too as long as they don't come with commentary in a broad Invernessian accent (like mine)! How far back does the archive footage you've got go? Pretty much right back to the beginning I think.
-
This makes me wet. :D Would there be a place for fans vids? Vids of the fans singing etc. Definitely, and I hope to have more news later in the week as to how this will be made possible.

Can't believe people are complaining we never sat back and defended....is that not what a lot of the mumping an moaning was about last season? Our strengths against St Mirren were in going forward, and it's better to "defend" by keeping the ball at the other end of the park....which we did fairly effectively. I would have been more than a little disappointed to see us try to sit in when, IMO, there was absolutely no need to do so. OK, so we lost a goal in the final minute....que sera....it could easily have been a loss if we'd invited danger by sitting back.

It's "The Rangers" who want to retain all the benefits of the old regime, but none of the punishment for the immoral/illegal operations which afforded them the position they held. They can't expect to take all that was "good" (position, power, titles etc) and carry on as if nothing happened. If they want that then they have to accept the bad that comes with it...the punishment and bad press. They asked for a "Transfer of SFA Membership" as this was the only way they could be guaranteed to remain in the league setup at all....if they had gone for a new membership then the process would have had to be opened up to applications from other clubs. They also needed that transfer to afford them full SFA membership (and the rights that come with that), and not associate membership. There's even talks now of them trying to get around the 3 year European ban because they are...as far as footballing authorities should be concerned (in their eyes)....the same club due to the transfer of that SFA Membership.

Was it one of the red tops that promised financial armageddon recently? Doncasters not a Ginger is he?

Nice idea but if 10 fans didnt renew then nominated each in turn we would have a £450 kitty from the club (not £500 as the 1st person cant be introduced). My idea produces a bit of spin, we probably have around 2000 st holders if we hope for 3,500 fans to turn up then only 1500 get the discount, equates to £9000 of a dip in income. figures over 3.500 is extra revenue from people being coaxed in from the cheaper price, including Killy fans making the trip. Giving fans their money back for buying a season ticket is more spin, as its just the same as selling at the early bird prices and the club has already come up with the voucher for the club shop idea. If the club cut the prices for the first game, in an attempt to fill the stadium, the team gets to show the fans that they are far better than last season, let the team be the best incentive to buy season tickets, £-9000, + £ from extra fans,+£ from progs, food etc, + £ for extra season tickets = +£? probably 4,500 fans would compensate for the minus figure,+ extra revenue from bar, progs etc, the team gets to show the stay aways what they are missing, and a promotion for giving fans their cash back, just 3 adults bring in over a grand buying season tickets, if they dont buy a st then the team have reminded them why they should come back again in the future. ' Would you like cashback sir/madam or would you like it to be discounted from the cost of your season ticket' ? I clearly stated "NEW" season ticket holders, so as to prevent people taking advantage of the offer. If someone has had a Season Ticket in the past then that would be a renewal, not a new sale. Ticket discounting has been discussed god knows how many times on here and it always comes back to the same conclusion....it doesn't work. To compensate for the £9000 you plan to give away, then you need need 450 extra adults through the gate (over 10% increase on our average gate) to cover the cost (there's little to no additional profit for the club from food and programme sales)...or about 40 additional season tickets (9% of additional fans attracted taking a season ticket?).....and that's just to get to break even. The idea here is to increase revenue. 40 Season tickets sold with a £50 discount generates £10,000 (ish) and costs you £2000.....net gain £8000. It's a "No-risk" incentive, whereas your idea relies on far too many "what ifs" and could easily end up costing money instead of making it.
